G Loomis GLX CR722C Casting Rod - Deal?
Yea, the G Loomis was a great deal. Also picked up another Steez last week for a little less than $200. Makes me wonder if the rods are HOT, otherwise why would they just return it for a refund since its new.

Reel Suggestion
I really like the steez and other daiwa reels but I thought it might be a good chance to try other upscale reels on this new rod. The Revo Premier looks interesting and I will make sure to check them out.

Reel Suggestion
I just picked up a new G Loomis GLX CR722C Casting Rod 6' M yesterday ($199 on eBay) and Im looking for suggestions for a new reel. I really like the lighter reels so what are some choices that I should consider? Ive looked at the Core and its nice but Im courious as to what others have used and the pros/cons. Should I wait for the new Core, is there going to be a big difference with the new model?

G Loomis GLX CR722C Casting Rod - Deal?
I found a G Loomis GLX CR722C Casting Rod 6' M that I can buy for $199. I dont know much about these rods but I hear a lot of great comments. I prefer 6' rods so I thought I might pick it up at a good price. I assume $199 a good deal since its $330 retail according to the G Loomis and Cabelas websites. Anyone have any comments on this GLX model ?

Had a good weekend pond fishing
Sounds like a great day for you! I have many of those days since I fish a lot of ponds and I agree that submerged grass is bass heaven. If you want to have even more fun early inthe morning or late in the evening, you might try a top water lure such as a jitterbug, hula popper or a lightweight frog that you can jerk across surface of those grass beds. It will make for some exciting fishing.

Basspro Pro Qualifier Baitcast Combo
I recently had 2 BPS sig series baitcasters and they were great reels. I never had any trouble with the dual braking system. I replaced both of them with Daiwa Steez combos (mainly for the reduction in weight) but I wish I would have kept at least 1 of them. The BPS sig series baitcasters were great when casting weightless plastics.

baitcasting line. help please!
P-Line CX Premuim, if you get hung up, you will straighten the hook on your lure and save the lure but the line won't break. 10 or 12 # floro in moss green.

So my wife tells me...
$900, hummm, thats a Steez combo (retail) and dinner for 2 to celebrate! Any fisherman would have to agree, (your wife) shes a keeper! All I ever hear is, "why do you need that?" and I keep buying.

Jig Help
I try to fish early before 6am when possible and there are some narrow areas where I can cast across to the oppsite shore. I learned the hard way if I tried to stand on the shore the big ones saw me and the next thing I saw was big ripples and the top edge of several very large bass swiming away. Almost made me cry. I love my plastic worms (and so do the bass), Im just trying to fish a variety of tackel so I will have more experience when I fish larger and different areas.

Jig Help
I fish a lot in ponds (and catch a lot of 2-3 lb bass). The ponds have a lot of submerged grassy areas and I do very well with both top water and plastic worms. I would really like to see if I could match my success with a jig but Im not exactly sure how to best fish the jig. Should I just cast it into the submerged grass areas and work it along the bottom similar to a plastic worm? Any help would be appreciated.

Mike Iaconelli
Im just like Ike, however, I talk to the fish when Im crankin him in, begging him to stay on the hook. Then when I land the fish I shout and talk big trash (but I always thank the fish gods). If its a big one I usually get so excited I have to sit and relax for about 5 min before I can continue fishing. If my wife is with me she gets scared that Im going to have a heart attack. I hope that excitment NEVER goes away! (It feels too good)

Fishermans Dream!!
6am should be fine, thats what time I usually start top water and I catch a lot of fish. I prefer my jitterbug or hulapopper but also catch a lot with my frog. Make sure you have a rig ready with a plastic worm so if you miss the top water hit, you can quickly throw that worm near the same spot and you will likely get a hit.

Fishermans Dream!!
tnbassfisher, Regarding "only 1 shot", I was referring to top water with my jitterbug, the fish always go for it early in the morning but I dont always manage to hook'em. Sometimes I can quickly throw'em a plastic worm and they will still hit it but its not as exciting as the top water hit.

Fishermans Dream!!
Early morning Fishin is BEST! I drop a hook in the water at 6am 3 or 4 mornings a week and always catch nice size bass. It's fun waking the big ones up early, pticks them off and they hit the top water jitterbug like they want to destroy it. I have a couple of spots and they are always there early in the morning. You only get 1 chance at each spot but if you hook'em its a blast! Caught both of 'em this morning (3 & 4 lb'ders) and was back home by 7am with a hot cup of coffee. Awesome way to start the day!

Finally tried a Curado E7
The Curado looks like a better product than the Chronarch and for less $$$. Ive looked and handled both the Chronarch and the Core and IMHO the Core is way far above the Chronarch.

Finally tried a Curado E7
Raul, "imagine the Curado but in magnesium", it already exist, its their "Core" model. BTW, I was talking to a Shimano rep last week at BPS and he said they will be introducing a new version of the Core at ICAST that will be even lighter. I asked him if they were trying to target my daiwa steez and all he said was, "no comment" and smiled.

Daiwa Baitcaster Questions
I agree with you J Francho, more brakes less tension. My Steez reels use the Mag-V braking system and after just 2 weeks of use I'm really starting to like the Mag-V brake.

Daiwa Baitcaster Questions
I really like the Daiwa Baitcasters, my previous reels were BPS signature series with the difference being the BPS had both conventional and mag brakes and my Daiwa has only mag brakes. It didn't take me long to adjust to the different system and now I perfer the simpler design, less parts to fail. It also allows me to readjust the reel quickly for different tackle. Since it has mag brakes only, I typically set the mag brake higher and set the spool tension lower (more free). That combination lets me make a long smooth cast with almost never any birdsnest.

High end rod advice
Nope, not made of money, just lucky to have a really good job, blessed with a very good income and a sucker for nice toys.

High end rod advice
Yep, it is a Daiwa Steez 6' M, just like my other on I paid $379 for at BPS. I was a little skeptical buying it on eBay but I won the auction for $179 + $20 shipping for a total of $199. The seller shipped it priority 2nd day, it arrived in a cabelas rod shipping tube. I checked it throughly and its flawless. Fished with it this past weekend and caught several 3 lb'ders with no problem. Wish I could find another one for that price! BTW, I also picked up another Steez reel for $325. Thats $155 less than I paid for my first steez reel at BPS. Ended up with a second steez combo for $524 !

High end rod advice
Dont buy anything until you at least try a Steez! Found a great deal on ebay and paid less than $200 for my second steez.
