  1. so glad i dont sunburn. i mean i have a few times as a kid, but it took long consecutive days in the sun for that to happen. i havent sunburned in over 20 years or more
  2. is the pond actually yours or is there a community of houses around it that owns the pond? just wondering. It will be hard for you to cull enough bass by yourself. personally i'd be happy to weed through a bunch of 2lbers to find that 5+lber...
  3. he clearly stated it was breaking while casting so i dont know why you would even bother to ask if it was " breaking when you cast, when you set the hook or when you have a fish on?" Thats why i asked if you even read the post. Doesnt sound like you really did...perhaps youre new to forums and only skim posts instead of reading the entire post...
  4. see, you guys are twisting what i said here. or just completely misunderstanding. apart of the problem is you are assuming. i've personally had a person several years ago point at my gear and say "that wont catch no fish, neither will that one, and that one might" and they were dead serious about it. wasnt a case of them yanking my leg. one of them was actually a zebco 33, one was a shakespeare tiger spincast, and one was a tiger spinning combo. yes, none of them cost more than $20, but i had pulled in a bunch of fish on all of them. the only one i still have is the tiger spincast combo, and that is one lucky reel/rod combo, i've since spent more money and have bought nicer gear myself. what im getting at is, i have nothing against someone spending what they want on their gear, its their money after all, but you do have snobs out there who think you cant catch fish on cheap gear. ive personally met one of those people. a couple days later we ran into him out on the water one morning, i had 2 nice stripers i held up for him to see, he was sitting there skunked...
  5. did you even read his post? much less the first line of it? smh
  6. a single 7" Medium GX2 can replace all that...
  7. sounds more like a case of the fish not cooperating on one hand. on the other, the only suggestion i can give is to slow down your retrieve a bit and give the bass a better chance of grabbing your bait instead of missing it...
  8. these two, and i would also add a zoom lizard and rage tail baby craw weightless as well...absolutely love the pit boss in ponds though, its killer. also i'd throw in a white spinner bait
  9. you would be surprised...
  10. yet some people will see this and still think no one can catch fish without the most expensive of everything available...
  11. to clarify on my post in specific, the bass was definitely eating bass fry, as the only other fish in the pond are bluegill and they had yet to spawn...though i dont disagree with you, youre absolutely right...

  13. shallow clear pond ive fished a ton at on my uncles farm. you kind of get to know the fish. i caught her when she was full of eggs. shes also the biggest bass in the pond...
  14. well, weather kept us off the lake boatwise as my friends boat isnt that big and just didnt seem safe to take it out with rough water. went and bank fished a spot friday night and caught a few catfish on minnows. plan to return in august when i have a wedding to attend down there...
  15. 7' Medium Ugly Stik GX2 + Pflueger President 6935 will cost around a $100 brand new for this set up. Should last you a long time as well.
  16. i've seen females eating their own fry by the mouth-full...
  17. easy solution: go to walmart and buy a couple lures and/or some plastics and a cheap $20 combo, it will do you just fine for a trip or two out if you have the free time, when youre done with it, give it to a local kid so you dont have to travel back with it...
  18. you may have to get a throw net and learn to catch your own bait...many stores that sell minnows often sell different sizes, not sure why your local stores dont...
  19. What kind of catfish? Personally i think Gaston is one of the best fisheries that not many people talk about. its an awesome lake to fish...
  20. This is what i have been hearing from the boys back home in NC. They've been fishing the Pea Hill Creek area and tearing up the bass, catfish and stripers. Anybody else been having good luck on Gaston lately? I plan on fishing it Friday or Saturday, maybe both, as I am heading to NC tomorrow night. If you havent been fishing it, you might want to give it a try right now. Whether for bass only or multi-species. We usually fish for everything, and they've had fish breaking off 25lb mono, and i'm not sure what size braid...
  21. fish them all, fish will hang out under both just for the shade alone
  22. Bass are hanging out around the bluegill beds looking for a meal, ive seen it in my uncles pond... id say most small pond bass feed on more than insects. theres frogs, lizards, rodents, perhaps crawdads, other fish and other things that hang out in ponds for the bass to eat.
  23. id guess its either worn out and not yet recovered from the spawn or theres too much competition for food in that body of water and that fish isnt getting its fill...
  24. doesnt look anything close to real, especially compared to a good skin mount and though im not a fan of replicas, ive seen much better looking in person and posted on here. the paint job is very dark and doesnt transition well to the belly either, also the shape of it just looks disfigured from the belly and the gills and mouth. probably one of the worst replica mounts ive seen. Also, it should be telling that one of the most knowledgeable members of the site, WRB, cant even distinguish the species of bass it is...
  25. yeah, re-catch the fish and get a much more realistic looking skin mount instead of something that looks mass produced in china...
