  1. Correct...Rogers Cabelas does a good job keeping their bargain cave clear of junk
  2. This is a picture he posted on Facebook...They look great! I hope they compare to LC at a lower price..
  3. LF Live Magic Shad I personally think its overkill to put a swimbait on a spinnerbait, but I do like them on swim jigs, chatterbaits, sworming hornets.
  4. Lets just say my best days fishing smallies on the river are thanks to this bait.
  5. Don't feel like you NEED to use what others are using....It is a good decision to go get a longer rod, but anything that is long enough to horse em of out the thick stuff will work...If there is a rod, say 7'3" H that you feel more comfortable with, then use that....I use A LOT of different rods that aren't the "popular choice" with other, but they are perfect for my fishing style.
  6. How come I can never find deals like this around here!?!
  7. Berkley hollow belly swimbaits, and like everyone else said basstrix
  8. I've had luck with them in cold water situations when the fish are finicky
  9. There isn't a bait in that lineup that is "revolutionary"...kind of disappointing with Berkely seeing how they are one of the industry leaders.
  10. Don't over think it when it comes to color, it is a very small part of determining if you will get get bit or not. Like everyone else has said, in low light/darker water situation, use a color that will pop. If you are fishing clear water, use a color that is more natural to the fishes environment. With that being said, I also throw a chartreuse/blue no matter what the conditions are. This color looks a lot like a bluegill when it flairs its colors, and I found it works equally in each almost every situation.
  11. Really?? :-? I've never done any good with DD22's or the biggest Fat Free Shad, traded all mine to another member on here. I do like the Series 5 or 6xd though. With the way Rapala's break and now that they're getting up around $10, I probably won't be buying them anymore. PM me if you have any left
  12. Which one do you prefer for deep divers (16+ ft)? Wouldn't that be obvious from my post? I thought you were responding to earlier posts that said they used reels as low as 3.8:1.
  13. Generally I use a 4/0 EWG, but this year I am going to try out this Gambler Double Trouble Toad Hook
  14. I have used grubs for jigs, so I know they will work at times, but 98% a craw style trailer will be a better option. When bottom bouncing a jig, the appendages on a craw are what entices the bass to bite...The only time I will throw on a grub is when I am swimming a jig. ...i don't think i agree with this statement. Not sure where the 98% number is coming from. Grubs can be a GREAT trailer, but depends on several contextual factors. I know a few fisherman who stick MONSTER bass and use grubs exclusively. Just have to tweek them and know where they function best. Obviously its all opinion based through previous experiences. Single tail grubs have been a great bait for me on their own, texas rigged or on a jig head, but on a skirted jig I have had more success with traditional craw style trailers....The different opinions are what make forums so great
  15. The first of its kind, Saturday morning cartoon fishing show sandwiched between Doug and Recess (at least that's what I watched)!! That way it may be successful.........Probably not

  17. I use a MH fast action for most of my moving baits that have a single hook (swin jigs, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, etc.) This rod will give you a little extra power to penetrate the fish. I can't wait for swim jigs in spring
  18. Which one do you prefer for deep divers (16+ ft)?
  19. I have three of them, and there is a reason I continue to go back and buy more. They handle like a $200 rod. The sensitivity, quality, and feeling of the rod is amazing. Not to mention, the customer service is great at Fenwick I would also take a look at the MagTouch rods. They also have great sensitivity, and you can't beet the Cabelas warranty.
  20. Who uses a lower gear ratio for deep cranking? I have always thrown 6.3:1, but have heard a lot of anglers switching to a lower gear ratio...I still feel like the 6.3:1 gives me the ability to slow/speed up...Whats your opinions?
  21. I think ww2farmer is just trying to show that there are no "magic" lures. Most of what you post on here is in search for the lure that will make the an elite fisherman. Instead of paying so much attention on specific lures, try and focus more on your fishing knowledge and develop yourself into a fisherman that has a better understanding of the bass. From there you will develop for yourself a better understanding of what to throw. So much of what is our there is opinionated that you aren't going to get a clear answer anyways.
  22. NorthStar Custom Baits just released a line of plastics that includes the best trailers I have used. I have been killing the smallies on the river this year with the skinnier profile trailer; it has a subtle flapping action the fish cannot resist.
