Throw some moving baits, then go for the jugular with a senko. These are the two baits I almost always throw in the spring time to figure them out.

IMO that's the perfect drop shot rod...I am about to purchase a 7'2" M Cumara for this DS 8-)

I have one on my finesse jig rod...couldnt ask for a better reel for this technique. Very compact, but handles the light jigs with ease.

That's not necessarily true..They are productive when fished like a jerkbait, but like you said they are a nice trolling bait as well.

They are a good bait, but not a great bait....IMO there are better options out there like the aruka shad, rat-l-trap, rattlin vibe, but you will be happy with them

x2...Are you using an underpowered rod? I use a G Loomis BCR803 GLX which is rated for 5/8 oz. Easily the best rod I've ever fished. I've also use a St. Criox Avid AVC70MHF which is awesome but like the shorter rod for this one. Fat IKA is my go to bait. Sorry to confuse you wonderlust, but the question was directed towards dday07...I'm guessing that is his problem if he is having hook set issues..
