You're kidding, right? :-? That thing is a spelling and grammatical abomination! I could probably find 30+ grammatical rules and spelling mistakes throughout that "apology". If I had legal representation, and I sent out something like that, I would have my own lawyer sue me on grounds of stupidity. Negative. But I guess it's hard to convey meaning in a post sometimes. I'm not saying the guy who wrote the letter was J.D. Salinger. All I'm saying is that it went from "gee shuks, eyem so blesed to have been gevin all uh them nice things by all uf'n your kind soles," to a letter that looks like it's written in english. I didn't spot any actual grammatical rules in the apology (i.e. Rule 7: Use a comma after phrases of more than three words that begin a sentence.) I did however, in my diligent search for spelling errors, count only 28 spelling mistakes. I'm not an english major though. By the by, thanks for 1. Choosing to bash my post because you're a human dictionary. 2. Deciding not to respond to my question with a "yes" or "no", or perhaps nothing at all. I here ya WII....I though their comeback was way over the top. I got your point on how much his writing style had changed I wonder if Valas had even read any of Basshunters old posts? LOL it allows you to jig or minnow fish while not being so close to scare off the fish. It also allows you to reach into brush piles and drop it in w/o having to cast. I don't know that much about crappie fishing but I thought the rod might be worth a try. I almost did the 10' but it was 3 pcs. For $16 what the heck I can sell it for $10 They even had 15' and 16'3 ' in another brand. I thought that might be a little much ( longer than my boat ). Good comeback RW

Good advice guys but yes I know it is a good buy as I bought one for $90 or 99 from Reeds a while back and that was shipped to my door! Haven't had a chance to fish it much yet. I still might go back and get one just trying to let the bait monkey calm down first. PS I thought the Avid / Zebco would raise some eyebrows like what the heck? LOL

The 2 casting were 6' and 6'3 both medium I think one fast one extra fast? The spinning's I didn't look as close at. By the time you add tax and ship no help to you as you are in MI and I am dead center of IL

My local tackle store still has some of the Avid's for $50 off. So around $90 - 100 depending on the model. I couldn't quite justify the $100 expense right now so I bought a Zebco 12' crappie rod! I'll sleep on the Avid though so maybe still?

Based on my recent experience with some Sahkespere equipment I'd stay away from them. You are virtualy asking the impossible getting a BC and a rod for $50 total. You'd be hard pressed to get a decent spinning for that. Ebay would be a possibility maybe and or coupled with a Wally world rod ( low eend Shimano rod or whatever they have. Maybe a used Pflueger Echelon BC but I have no experience with the quality of that reel. Maybe your best shot is to send $10 to fishtank and have him watch for deals for you LOL man those were bargains I just checked and BPS lists a Diawa Procaster with a BPS rod for $65. I don't know if it is the same 6 + 1 as Raul posted but Daiwa makes some decent stuff. Another option if nearby is maybe a Gander mountain series. You might be able to get them in the store for your price.

Last year I picked up several spools fo 17lb and 10lb Stren braid for around $3 ea. Man I should have bought everything I could get my hands on. I also bought 2 cup/tool/gear holders that mount to bass seats for around $4ea man those were worth every penny. This year I bought a Manns hardbait for 10cents I think LOL You always have to watch as you never know when they will clearance. They also clearance in 2 or 3 diff spots at my Walmart. Berkley Lightning rods on clearance last week ( only $5 off though).

#1 Muddy because I've gotten to know him on the phone a little. Mainly because he's like a living history lesson! I learned more NY, politician and baseball history in 20 mins than I learned in the last 48 years. Tin and Senko come to mind as being fairly young I *** their being so good at such an early age. Skillett, Redline R and Alpster... interesting people and classy posts. Cart AKA Carp and Daniel my ( name this week) as they are both from the Midwest, plus Daniel has laughed at some of my humor. LBH if nothing else just to listen to the accent all day. Also he seems to know open water bass fishing pretty well which I need to learn. Plus he is a classic. Farmpond1 ( Jeff Buck ) as I've been emailing him some and we share some enthusiasm. He lives reasonably close by so we'll probably make this happen. anyone from the broken fins fishing club as it would mean a least one healthy day for them. Also a bunch of them have been very supportive of my daughter's illness. Glenn - he is pretty quiet and the " Grand Puba " of the site. Plus no one else seemed to want to fish with him so the line would be short LOL plenty more this is the short list

used to be golf absolutely loved it but the price and 5 hr rounds of golf I pretty much gave it up. Plus my scores were so so. Thus now my hobby is FISHING ONLY. sort of a hobby as I spent many years with it was coaching my kids sports teams use to play some soccer in my "thinner days" would like to find something light and easy along tthose lines again It was a paid hobby but I umpired baseball and softball for almost 25 years ( started at age 12). In boys / mens did kids, to a few semipro games. I got into girls fastpitch and did that for probably the last 15 years of the run.

A lot of people post that they like the 6' for fishing tight quarter from the bank. It helps keep it out of the trees etc. I use 6' ML spinning for a combo crappie / bass rod. I've caught crappie and have caught several 4lb bass with the same lure on same day with the same rod. Very versatile for a bank angler.

The trip ones hard to tell depends, the first cast deal def stinks but the snag is a no no rods are not meant to pull out snags. Do it with an expensive Shimano or Loomis or any rod and you will be left holding an expensive toothpick. I find a piece of scrap branch and wrap the line around it. I use the stick to pull out the snags. This also saves from the line cutting into the joints of my fingers. Just my .02

Gander was in trouble or something way back when. Cabela's bought out Gander's online catalog and had an agreement of no GDNMT catalog for x # of years. Thus they don't have one and may not for a while. I saw another post here recently where Gander thinks Cabelas violated the agreement and is thinking of starting online again so maybe coming?

I know a tackle shop that has a few Fenwick HMG Aramid veil rods for $59. I've been thinking of buying a new BC hmmmm! maybe its Revo time?

What series of house brands ex. Cabela's, BPS, Gander, Dick's etc do you like & dis-like? Just rods & reels for now. No generic opinions just make it based on facts or someone you know well that has had good luck or bad. Make it series based so as not to trash eveything at a given store. I know LBH posted once about a POC on a model but I'm not sure which model.

First of all a bunch of new people to the forum on this topic. Welcome to all of you salad, Pal, Dog Kemist, 2000 ... and the ones I missed. Salad I think your post was perfect. He asked about Quantum reels in general. You posted from first hand experience what you've seen and a great comparison on what another particular reel solced for the same person. The reason I bring it up was although I liked my Quantum Mantra it backlashes easier. It was my first reel when I got back into fishing. It was also my first ever BC so it is kind of a sentimentle(sp) thing. When I bought my Shimano Citica I almost instantly eliminated most problems that I had with backlashes.
