  1. Ya, we've all heard that before. : LOL!
  2. Getting married then it goes " Do as I say not as WE do" Bucket, Put the $25 away like Muddy said then take bigger chunks and put it in an IRA if you don't have access to a 401K Trust us we old people are good for something if nothing else about teaching about our mistakes! lol Congrats on the check Wisdom says the longer you stay away from women the longer your check lasts!
  3. Speedbead great reply you bring up some good points. I'm not sure but isn't steroid use against the law? ( I honestly don't know). If that is the case then just because baseball doesn't have a rule against it then??? I would lean toward the fact that he having admitted to using " the cream " and " the clear " then in my mind positive urine test or not he knew he was "cheating" the system. Thus he tarnished baseball. If a class act like Roger Marris gets an asterisk then Bonds record deservers to be in miniature unreadable fine print at best. ( and sort the record book based on text size large first lol) The only saving grace is the baseball writers hall of fame is not democratic. Hopefully they will have the Kahunas to have the last word and keep him out of the hall. As far as records they should pro-rate and give Babe Ruth and all others credit based on an equal number of games. Maybe you could give credit to the guys who served in war times as a tribute to their sacrifice. That would open up a cn of worms ( injuries etc ) Its a shame class acts like Henry Arron, Lou Brock Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige etc etc had to endure what they did but unfortunately that was society at the time. I can see it now, Bonds will read this and will call me and say " you don't know me " my answer would be one word " good " click..........hummmmm
  4. Ah, Muddy at his finest! lol Muddy Red Sox fans ( before the World Series win ) are the closest to understanding what its like to be a frustrated Cub fan. Sox fans get a special "Joe" exemption so post away. What's your thoughts on the Bonds issue? He deserves the record? He's a bum?
  5. Hey Daas - I'm no expert on the light stuff but I have found like you that heavier baits are easier. I've read on these forums several times that a cople of reels seem to do better than others for light stuff. I think the Chronarch 50mg and a Diawa (Pixy?) have been mentioned several times. Don't quote me on the models you'd have to research it.
  6. Muddy I know you don't want an atta boy bit your's is an awesome story. I've only been fishing for a few years but love it so much I've wanted to somehow share my enthusiasm. Somehow I'd like to reach out to less fortunate kids with fishing in hopes of steering them to a positive lifestyle. Having twin surprise daughters at 40yrs old ( on top of 3 teenage daughters) and a job set back have slowed my plan some but maybe someday.(?) Your story gives me some ideas and some inspiration for the future. If I could do have as well compared to what you've done then it would be a success.
  7. What's your thoughts on Barry Bonds possibly breaking the record? I can't stand it, I turn off any game he is on, I turn the news channel if they talk about him. I re-fuse to read most newspaper articles about his record chase. I did read one about how bad the Dodger fans are going to treat him that was pretty funny. Quote " He mocks those who have followed the legal process and believe that eventually he might be forced to trade in McCovey Cove for Pelican Bay." The same people who are bad mouthing the possible record break are snapping pictures at the game. The best thing anyone could do is not go to the game. How would he feel about setting the record with an empty stadium? Just curious what the average Joe feels about it.
  8. I could cast a baitcaster sidearm with no problem but overhand was exactly as you described. I received some great advice like you but still had trouble. Braided line helped quite a bit in general whether sidearm or overhand but not perfect. I happend to add a new bc shortly after I started my overhand post. It was a pretty good upgrade ( to a Shimano Citica ). This virtualy eliminated my backlashes almost immediately.
  9. B.O.A.T. Bring Out Another Thousand I hadn't seen it worded this way. This is going to be a classic good one Dlee lol!
  10. I own a Cherrywood and 2 Lightning rods. I like them all but the Cherrywood is a little on the cheapo side. The Lightnings feel better to me. The Cherry is a M and the lightning's are both ML and they always go on sale a couple of times a year for around $20 at Wallyworld, Gander mtn and BPS. I also own a BPS extreme but haven't had it long enough to judge it. The only drawback to this rod is it doesn't come with a hook keeper but BPS sells keepers 4 for $4 so pick them up while you are there. These rods always go on sale for a nice discount. If you are poss thinking of adding any reels they give great combo prices.
  11. probably has a lot to do with the style of the fisherman I catch prob 40% of my bass on spinners of some kind ( crappie style or bass style ) I catch probably 50% of all my bass on swimbaits ( the .50 ea for me not the $15 ones) never caught anything on a jig ( has to be the fisherman ) not much on worms To me an overrated bait is any one over $4-$5 ea or any that are more than 25% more than a similar lure that will work almost as well
  12. be careful with the Muddy pic. A Yankee hat? That could get him strung up in his town.
  13. is that even possible? LBH that is going to take a lot of video editing to pull off!
  14. Man some clubs sound like they are run by office women. Geez who's got the time and energy for all of the crap. Sorry to hear about you plight Flyphish. If I were you I'd start up my own for the fun of it club. Sounds like with the other club's dropout rate you'd have plenty of people. If I ever started or had a club it would be a for fun only that's why we fish in the first place or so I thought. Some of those clubs sound like a bunch of gossipy old women.
  15. Why does anyone need BASS or FLW to have a club? Why go through all of the trouble? What is to be gained from it? All this being said I am a BASS member strictly for the magazine which I enjoy. Does that in itself make you a member of BASS for tny's? Obviously the club would also have its dues etc. I just don't think I would need them to have a club. I don't have an interest anyway just couriosity.
  16. Since when is a $229 fishing reel a poor mans reel? Raul thanks for reminding me just how far I live on the wrong side of the tracks! LOL
  17. I wondered about timiing but didn't know enough about marine engines to tell. reminded me of a car I had once that the timing belt had broken. BR.om comes through shining once again thanks to its members!
  18. Don't most motors have some sort of pin mechanism for adjusting a trim type effect buit into them? Mine is an old 9.9 and has it. Changing the pin position helps with cavitation a bunch. I imagine it could help with planing as well.
  19. Hey spin as several people seem torn between 2 or 1 for spin and another for BC you can set up the choices to be more than one.
  20. I also forgot to mention that we put our boats in the water mainly via public boat ramps. You just back down to the water, unload you boat and park in a free parking lot. Some lakes have a daily/yearly fee but many are free.
  21. Man T-rig that is rough. What does the exam consist of? just fishing regulations? Learning about other cultures has always fascinated me. Hope I haven't hi-jacked your thread if I have I can start up a new one. Do you have to take the test every year? Does the exam have a fee too?
  22. If he is dumb enough to be putting his boat in during a thunderstorm that pretty much tells me who was paying attention and who wasn't. I'd have been tempted to have backed my trailer down and blocked him in. I would have made him put his boat back on the trailer. But then everyone else would have been held up.
  23. Ouch it can be expensive there. I've got a small 14ft jon boat with a 9.9hp. I paid a total of $800 for boat, motor & trailer. It's about $75 for the boat liscense and the trailer registration. A lot of us keep our boats at our homes many in our garages. A fishing liscense in the state of Illinois is around $14. That's about it for expenses except for insurance for the fancier boats. Many states don't have yearly taxes but some probably do.
  24. Hey t-rig is fishing in Switzerland an expensive hobby? A buddy of mine was from Germany and he said only the very wealthy their have boats of any kind due to high taxess and fees etc. Didn't sound like a lot of fishing went on in Germany as a result. Just wondering how Switzerland and maybe the surrounding countries measured up.
  25. Is this starting to sound like a BassResource.com road trip abroad ? LOL
