Big worm rod??
I have to recommend the Dobyns Champion Extreme 744c. At 7'4" its a few inches over 7 feet but extremely well balanced. Yesterday I was throwing a 3/4oz jig with no problems. I managed to land a nice one that went 3lbs 8oz and this rod had plenty of power to bring the fish in along with a small branch from the cover I was throwing in. I'm sure it would make a great big worm rod and will handle anything up to its 1oz lure rating. I plan to use it as my c-rig and large t-rig rod along with 3/8 - 3/4 oz jigs. It is a pricey rod, but I cannot say enough good things about it and it's a beautiful rod cosmetically as well. You would not be dissapointed.

1998 Fisher Dominator 16'
On Tuesday I am going to look at a used 1998 Fisher Dominator that I found on Craigslist. The seller says that it is a 16' with a 40hp Merc and is in excellent condition, trailer included. He wants $2500. I have never heard of Fisher Boats or this model and know nothing about them, other than that they are now owned by Tracker Boats (which I know is owned by BPS). What can you guys tell me about these boats? I know it depends on the condition, but could one of these boats be worth $2500? And what types of things should I be looking for when I go to take a look at the boat? Any advice or help would be appreciated as this would be my first boat purchase.

Costa Del Mar Green Mirror or Silver Mirror lens?
Both the silver mirror and green mirror are copper based lenses with a different coating. I just picked up a pair of green mirrors because I could not find silver mirrors in the frame I wanted. I guess I would have to go with the silver mirror if given the option, but my green mirrors are fantastic and you will not be dissapointed with either.

Dobyns 733C vs MBR 843 GLX
Wow. 25% off sounds like an unbeatable deal. I just placed a large order with TW (thats when I picked up the DX744 and 704CB) so hopefully I will be able to get myself to wait until they have one of their 20% off sales before I place another order including the 733. From what you are telling me, it sounds like the 733 will make an excellent lipless crank rod as well. Thanks for all the help guys. I think I have all the answers I needed.

Dobyns 733C vs MBR 843 GLX
I really appreciate the help Brokeju. Your last post leads me back towards my original thought, which is the 733. I'm sure the 3 power will have plenty of backbone for the baits I will throw and fish I will catch here in CT (PB ~ 5lbs), as well as the tip for throwing those lighter lipless cranks and flukes when necessary.

Dobyns 733C vs MBR 843 GLX
If the 733 has the same or slighty more backbone than the 843 GLX then that is the rod I will go with. If not, then I will likely go with the 734. Can anyone comment on this comparison?

Dobyns 733C vs MBR 843 GLX
I knew that I could count on you for a response about Dobyns rods Brokju ;D I find myself wavering between the 733 and 734 now. I don't usually fish around much cover and also may want to throw a few flukes on with this setup as well. I think the 733 may be the way to go for my intended uses. However, I have also read that the 734 is only a slight step up in power from the 733, so I'm torn at the moment.

Dobyns 733C vs MBR 843 GLX
Aside from the 3 inch difference in length, how do these two rods compare to one another as far as action and power? I just picked up a Dobyns DX744 and 704CB and I love the feel of these rods. I'm considering selling my 843 GLX and picking up the Champion 733. I will be using it as my all around setup for throwing moving baits including mostly spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, and top waters in the recommended 1/4 - 3/4 oz range. Thoughts from those who have experience with both rods would be very helpful, but all opinions are welcome. Thanks.

which hooks for what plastics
Owners are the way to go. I prefer the offset straight shank hooks in 1/0 - 5/0 depending on the size and thickness of the chosen plastic.

Costa Del Mar glasses
Just picked up a pair of 580s myself. Was looking for Silver Mirrors, but couldn't find any for a good price so I got the Green Mirrors and have no regrets.

E7 Handle
How do I go about ordering an E7 handle for my new D7? Do I have to call Shimano? Also, I think I remember someone saying it was about $38, can anyone confirm this?

septon paddles on a curado
I figured as much. The handles look nearly identical besides the knobs.

septon paddles on a curado
If I do decide to purchase the E7 handle for the larger knobs, can the knobs be removed and just put on the D7 handle or would I have to replace the entire handle with the E7 handle?

septon paddles on a curado
I have to agree. I just sold one of my E7s and picked up a D7. It's a beautiful reel and I'm sure it will perform great, but I already miss the feel of those larger grips on the Curado and I havn't even had a chance to fish the D7 yet. I'm seriously contemplating purchasing an E7 handle for it already.

Gen 2 Dobyns 704CB Glass
That Cumara happens to be the exact rod I was looking at before shifting my attention to the Dobyns because I prefer full cork grip rods and the overall look of the Dobyns. Glad to hear they feel similar. However, that tip sounds pretty whippy :-/

Gen 2 Dobyns 704CB Glass
From what you guys are telling me this sounds like it may be the perfect rod for my intended purposes. BMoore - I would love to hear about your experiences with this rod when you get the chance to fish it.

Gen 2 Dobyns 704CB Glass
I'm not a fan of soft/whippy rods, but I figure the softer tip will help with casting these lighter baits. I might prefer the non-glass version if this is not an issue. How is the tip/action on the 705? I know these rods are fast action, but I have read they have a parabolic bend.

Gen 2 Dobyns 704CB Glass
Looking for opinions of those who have experience with this rod. I'm looking for a rod to throw shallow to medium diving crankbaits, jerk/rip baits, and topwaters all in the 3/16 - 1/2oz range. I know the rod is rated 1/4 - 3/4oz, but how will this rod really handle casting lures down to 3/16oz and 1/4oz? Thinking about pairing the rod with a Daiwa Sol if that helps. I have already read the TT review and am looking for personal experience, so no links to this review please. Thanks all.

Premier or skeet reese?
I would take the Premier for looks alone, like the others have stated. Also, the dual braking is a bonus and I prefer the swept handle as well.

Costa 580
My hat size is 7&1/4, but I have a pretty round face/head. I'm pretty sure they will fit, I just hope they look a little better than the Brines, which were a little snug and looked a little small.

Does anyone know when the next Tacklewarehouse sale is?
All items on Monday meaning all the items that were put on sale Thurs - Sun?

Costa 580
My local Cabela's had some Costa's and I was able to try a few on the last time I was there. the Brine's felt pretty good but looked just a bit too small. Im hoping that the Zane's will be a little bigger and I am planning on ordering them, although I never actually got to try them on (please let me know if this is not the case). It seems that everyone carries the Fathom's, but they are way too small for my head. I think I will go with the silver mirror lenses as I have also heard they are a good all around lense for freshwater.

Costa 580
What about on those bright sunny days? Will the copper lenses suffice?
-
Costa 580
I'm gonna buy a new pair of costa's with the 580 lenses. I'm trying to decide which would be the better all around lense color between green mirror and silver mirror. I really like the looks of the green mirrors, but I don't want to base my decision solely on aesthetics. Will the green mirror lenses make it harder for me to see in low light conditions compared to the silver mirror?
