Fenwick Fans
Micro, I just realized where the confusiong is coming from. I am talking about the HMG spinning series and I believe you are referring to the triggerstik series. Sorry for not mentioning that in my origional post. In response to Muddy's post, I love my older version HMG and will be looking for the discount for my next, a 7' MH moderate/fast spinnning rod

I believe you are thinking of the MH. I just checked the Fenwick website and both are listed as having a moderate/fast tip and the 7' MH is rated up to 1 oz.

I plan on picking myself up an old 7' MH moderate/fast HMG for throwing medium to large cranks if they go on sale, which I hope they do soon :

I am interested. I have a Fenwick HMG and love it, and I can't wait to see how people like the new HMG's. With a few upgrades and a $10 decrease in price, it almost seems too good to be true.

IMX guides
Can anybody let me know what type of guides are on the Loomis IMX series rods?

IMX vs GLX
I have read (on this forum I think) that scratches and chips can lead to easier breakage. Is this not the case?

Making the switch to braid
Thanks for the rebate coupon but I have decided to go with fireline. And I recently got to take a look at some at my local dick's and the 20lb was incredibly thin so I have decided to go with the 30lb. Thanks to all of you for your input and assistance.

IMX vs GLX
Are the IMX series rods covered in a coat of glaze (I'm not sure of the proper term, scrim?) or are they uncoated? I do not recall from the last time I visited my local cabelas because I recently became interested in the loomis rods and never paid too much attention. I think that this added durability would be worth it for me.

Thats my plan.

IMX vs GLX
What are the differences between these two blanks aside from sensitivity? Which is stronger? Stiffer? Any input from those with experience with both would be great. Thanks.

Making the switch to braid
Thanks for the input dmac, and I'm sorry to hear about your misfortunate experience. Hopefully cabelas will have some 20lb fireline in stock when I make the trip this weekend.

Making the switch to braid
I keep hearing great things about fireline braid so I think I will give it a shot. Now all I need to figure out is which size, 20lb or 30lb. Anyone have any reason for choosing one size over the other?

Making the switch to braid
Im leaning toward suffix because you get 150 yards vs. 125 or 110 yards with the stren and fireline for about the same price.
-
Making the switch to braid
My reason for switching is less stretch for better sensitivity and improved hook sets and my reason for only 20lb is the higher visibility of braid and for better casting. This is my reasoning as a novice with no prior experience with braid. I am open to any suggestions if my logic is off, please feel free to set me straight.

Making the switch to braid
Sorry, I forgot to mention that it will be used on a spinning setup. Also, have you braid users noticed less bites due to the high visibility of braid for a finesse presentaion such as plastics, as this is a concern of mine?

Making the switch to braid
Im thinking about making the switch to braid from p-line floroclear for fishing soft plastics due to the high amount of stretch that the floroclear has. My question is, what is the best braid for this purpose? Im looking at fireline braid, stren sonic braid, and suffix braid. Which would you all suggest? Also, I was thinking about getting 20lb (6lb mono diameter). Is this a good strength/diameter for LMB. I fish mostly weightless plastics. Thanks all.

Can anyone recommend...
When will those new Fenwick's be available? I have the current model and love it. Can't wait to get my hands on the new one with those upgrades and at $20 less than the current model's price. I just hope they havn't cut any corners to keep the price down.

Rod action
I pose this question because I recently got a chance to get my hands on some g loomis rods in store for the first time and they felt amazing. I really liked and have heard great things about the IMX and I am looking into getting a 7' MH fast action IMX spinning rod as an all around rod but primarily it will be used for cranks and spinners and I was wondering if this action will be too fast for these applications. Would it be better suited for soft plastics?
-
Rod action
I understand the logic behind using a slower tipped rod for crankbaits and other treble hooked lures but wouldn't it serve the same purpose to just not set the hook as hard when if using a faster action? Please explain if there is more to it than just this.

Need some help
My thoughts exactly about the mossyback. Thanks for your help King, it is greatly appreciated. Hopefully some others with experience with these rods will offer some more insight.

Need some help
Nope, mostly LM. Can you comment on how this rod compares to the mossyback jig & worm? They appear similar and are at a similar price point.

Need some help
Thanks for the help. It was definitely the shakyhead. Anyone with experience care to comment on this rods performance? I would use this rod for weighted and unweighted soft plastics and small jigs, how would this rod handle these baits?

Need some help
So I was at my local Cabela's today looking at some rods and I came across a Loomis spinning rod that felt amazing and balanced perfectly with my saros 2500. Only thing is, I don't recall seeing a series name on it, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out. It was a brown colored 6'10" spinning rod mag. med. power with an extra-fast action. The lure weight was 1/8-5/16 and there was a picture of a weightless worm on it just next to the rod ratings. Price was $240. Anyone know what rod it was?

Daiwa Fuego A
I had seen the weight difference and thought the same. Still a pretty light reel even in the 3000 size. Thanks for the input.
