  4. Must have been a blast down at the classic. I met the MegaStrike crew at the NJ Garden State Sportsman Show, Bobby's a real cool guy!
  5. try weightless plastics(senko, rage tail), texas-rigged you dont want your hook exposed. Or if its mats try a frog or texas-rigged plastics with a tungsten weight to punch through the thick stuff! where do you fish?
  6. I just read about that recently in the NJ fish and wildlife magazine, its in south jersey.
  7. I was tying on 2/0 offset worm hook and and went to pull tight with my teeth, and my dad hooked on with a bass, so I was distracted and the hook went right into the inside of my cheek. But it didnt go all the way in that the shank caught!
  8. The type of line depends on many different things such as: 1. type of cover 2. water clarity/depth 3. Specific technique your using for jigs and worming. 4. fishing pressure Braided line: In cover (vegetation/wood) go with braid, but if you could get away with heavy mono go for it. Fluorocarbon line: Finesse fishing/flipping jigs in wood, dropshotting, deep/clear water, and highly pressured water. Mono line: good for all around purpose If you only own a few rods/reels, pick the type of line/pds. test that best suites you for your all around applications. Here check out these threads, hope it helps! http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/selecting_line.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/braided_mono.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/fluorocarbon_line.html
  9. A high speed reel is great for topwater/swimbait or burning a spinnerbait.
  10. X2, it depends on the situation and your presentation technique.
  11. X2, confidence is key!
  12. Ditto. It runs about 3-4ft. They have a new one, Thug, that runs to 6 I think -not square but snag resistant, and a tad pricey for a something you'll be throwing into a tree. I also really like a Bill Dance Excalibur/Bomber that I found at Dick's a few years ago -got two left. But they appear to be gone. BPS XPS(I think) has a square lip that is nice, but is a tad small in my book -at 2". Lesseee... Oh yes! The 1/4oz SpeedTrap -GREAT plug. 2-1/2", runs to 6ft with a big wide square lip. Good plug, although a tad light. Lesseee...OK I looked in my box: Manns Elite C4 -good plug, runs to 4ft. And ...the most snagless of them all.... the Wiggle Wart. They run a bit deeper than the others, to 10ft, but are amazing. By far the most snagproof plug I've used. Almost weird, bury one deep in a milfoil clump and with a firm pull it somehow comes out clean most of the time. I agree to that, wiggle warts, bomber square A and the Rapala dt fat-03 are my top 3!
  13. Uncle Josh baits have been around for decades. A great bait, but it does have its cons! Does anybody still use the Pork frog as a jig trailer? When would you prefer it over a traditional plastic trailer (cold water)?? Thanks!
  14. 1. Not being able to tell myself "one more cast" 2. Fishing in the wind (not using the wind to my advantage) 3. fishing deeper water
  15. Anyone ever read this book? Even though it was published in 1990, in general everything still applies today besides maybe some specific lure techniques and innovation. Great overall bass book!
