  1. that should keep me thinking for a while,,,went out today,,,put in at sandy and crossed over to veach basin,,,using frogs,,t=rigs,,wacky worms,,crankbaits,,my buddy and i managed 6 keepers,,,6 dinks,,,1 five lber on frog,,most were caught on points,,,we had to shift sides often to stay out of the winds,,couldn't shift out of all the rain, though,,seems we had to keep the boat in 10fow to catch any,,,any shallower and the points didn't produce, ( had to have deep water close),,,thanks for the lesson Jack
  2. Jack,,,this is a hard one,,,and may not be fair,,but can you describe how rayburn and toledo fish different? I still relate both lakes to hydrilla,,,but you and Catt say they fish different....
  3. oct 30th out of six mile,,,,humm,,,sounds very interesting
  4. Jack, how deep did you find the grass to be? You know,,,you could work up a thread on Rayurn,,maybe, if i said "please"?
  5. Thats all true, Catt,,,not to split hairs and no disrespect meant,,,but the boat lane bouys going into lows creek say hickory ridge on them,,,
  6. Bull, i can tell you that the fish are still on mcgee flats,,was there on the 21st,,,and caught a few,,and watched a competitor fishing opposite side of channel catching some as well,,,
  7. Jack, your info is good too,,,makes us look over the whole area,,not just the obvious points
  8. Sorry Jack,,i was referring to the fish i was on,,,on mcgee flats,,,but new info is always welcome,,,
  9. Do you think it likely that those fish will be there (barring any serious weather change) for a couple of weeks,,,around the same time of day,,,I hear people say they been on fish for a couple months and was wondering if you thought this could be one of those situations
  10. I fished friday on the south bank of Six Mile,,checking out a point and ledge for a couple hrs,,,got rained(lightly) on 3 times,,,saturday, went there first thing,,caught a nice 3lber on a chug bug,,two dinks on cranks,,went flipping some docks and caught the biggest brim of my life,,,no bass,,,went to mcgee flats and set up on what i call a secondary point and caught 4,,1 5lber,,,1 3lber and two dinks,,,broke 1 off,, and missed 4,,twice bringing back only half of my ol' monster worm,,,best bite was from 1:00pm to 2:30 pm,,,Catt, what do you do when the bite stops? Have the fish moved or just shut down? And congratulations Jack,,,how did you place?
  11. as a co-angler,,,a '86 spirit, 16 1/2 ft w/150 mariner,,,as a boater,,'81 ranger, 18 ft w/150 evinrude,,,,fond memories but i wouldn't want to go back,,,didn't finnish in the top ten in either
  12. I can't really remember when dad took me for the first time,,,just was a long time ago,,,we fished for whatever,,,,got into targeting bass about 7yrs ago,,,decided to get serious about it 2yrs ago,,,,still trying to learn every time i go out
  13. I, personally, keep a chrome rattle trap on deck for just such occasions
  14. if it were as a guest,,,i'd be all over it, regardless of how the catching goes,,,always like to check out new places
  15. is the shorter grass on the very outside edge more or less important than the grass wall edge? is the shorter grass what your finding in the 17fow?
  16. Catt, would i have been better off, anchoring in deeper water? also, there wasn't any grass where i was at. I haven't seen any grass deeper than 11fow the last couple of times i've been up there,,,maybe i'm not quite in the right locations yet? I'll be up again on friday to try again.
  17. fishing report,,fished 4 points off east/southeast side of mcgee flats,,,anchored in 12fow,,wind from the west, caught 6 dinks on cranks- none on t-rig or carolina,,,fished 360 around the boat,,,flipped 2 dinks from those docks,,carolina rigged 1 crappie from 24fow in front of docks,,,wind from the south,,,went to housen community and fished 2 points/ humps, no fish,,,son catching his FIRST bass all by himself, priceless
  18. My son and i are fishing the bend in the morning and i plan on using the electronics A LOT...I'll make several passes over mcgee flats and see what i can see,,
  19. Catt, would you suggest fishing this flat the same as housen community? migration down both sides? checking for the irregularities (humps) etc? And would those docks likely hold fish because they are the best available structure in the area of the deeper water? Sorry, still full of questions.
  20. mcgee flats somewhat mimics housen community hole,,,,interesting creek, or ditch thru the southeast side of the flats, close to bank shallow,,,south of this area looks to be well rounded point, deep water to bank,,,almost non-descript until you get to mill, with exception of small cove? unless you are talking about the creek south of mcgee?
  21. this flat is huge, would there be a contact point or are the bass scattered around the weed line,,you mentioned spring, fall, winter,,what about summer? I've gathered that you like to anchor a cast length from the grass and fish 360 around the boat,,but what are you looking for, as a starting point
  22. KVD beat the class the old way, and the new way,,this is 3 in a row,,like the post season or not, the man is GOOD
  23. i see a flat on a main lake rounded point,,,,i would concentrate my efforts at n31.29738 w93.69892, which appears to be narrower tapered point into deeper water on at least two sides-----update to my outing yesterday,,put in at 6.15am, went to north side west of island at hurricane creek and caught 3 on top water,,2 dinks, 1 3.5,,,sun got up and went to indian mounds, fishing outside edge of hydrilla on points, 1dink on craw worm, pardner broke 1 off, moved further in, pardner boated 2lber on senko,,went to sandy creek and pardner broke off dropshot,,,various frog fish along the way,,,storm blew in, and we went home,,,2 keepers boated,,,6 dinks, not getting wet, priceless
  24. time for more on the water training,,,putting in at fin and feather this morning,,,
  25. The championship game of late has been ou,,tx anyway,,,,that will problably stay the same
