  1. I said we could overcome our nature not that we always do. Correct have you noticed that dogs and wolves look a lot alike? They still have the same nature. But this conversation isn't about wolves is it. Humans were smart and found out that wolves can't be trusted, I'm suggesting that maybe its time we do the same for pit bulls. I don't think your understanding what I'm saying.
  2. If you want to talk about a dogs nature then we might as well start at the beginning because by definition you cant change nature. Todays dog came from wolves, coyotes, wild dogs etc. And that means all dogs big and small. So by Nature there all wolves at heart. Would you trust a wolf? So why trust any dog. I say we ban all dogs because they are in fact wolves. While were at it we should get rid of wolves because eventually someone will breed them back into dogs so they can be fought. I love sarcasm. What i'm trying to get at is you cannot ban any dog it will never solve the problem. All you can do is to make laws and make sure they are enforced. There are always gonna be accidents with any kind of dog some more than others. And ask yourself this if pitbulls were banned would that end the amount of dog attacks? or do you think those guys you know that fight dogs would find another breed to fight starting the cycle all over again?
  3. Never said it was legal I was just stating a fact that just because it was banned didn't mean that it had stopped or become less common. My original point is that it has been banned for approximately 150yrs. Which is a big step in the problem. Don't you think these guys that fight dogs will find another dog when you ban pits. I'm sure they could figure it out. When I say treated like royalty I mean that they are treated very well. As a matter of fact a lot of dog fighters love their dogs like guys who own pit bulls on this forum. I'm not saying that anyone here fights dogs I'm just saying that these guys love pit bulls too. Yes a lot of dogs are killed after a loss but many are saved to become..... PETS!! Really I got to be honest I don't know anyone that says "I LOVE MY DOG" and the goes out and lets it fight with another dog knowing it could seriously get injured. And guess what happens when they become pets? They have puppies which are sold to people. Yes I know these dogs can be nice but I've also seen people who have tamed wolves and mountain lions and made them into "pets". What I'm saying is no matter how hard you try you can not tame out a pit bulls nature. Yes they can be nice pets I've seen it, but the chance for them to attack will always be there because when all is said and done its in their nature. So let me get this straight because many many years ago a dog was trained to fight there's no un-training that. That's interesting because if you train them to fight why cant you train them not to. I mean everyones big point is that they have a BRAIN right?
  4. When I used a knife as an example it was because of the danger level associated with knifes, guns, etc. in the possession of the wrong person dog and brainless knife can be dangerous just the same. It had nothing to do with a knife sprouting legs and evolving to the point it had a brain and killed someone. You want to say a dog has a brain and is capable of thought all the more reason they can be taught to be "MANS BEST FRIEND" and that goes for any breed. The problem lies with dogs being taught by people to do the wrong thing. Because we are the ones when all is said and done that taught these dogs.
  5. Thats what I have 5/0 for big plastic 3/0 for small a middle of the road plastic can fit on either. I don't see much point in getting 3/0,4/0 and 5/0.
  6. Just because you know people that are still fighting them does not make it legal. My point was It's not legal so the people doing it are essentially criminals being that its is a criminal act. Also, I don't ever remember saying that the prize dogs were mistreated i'm sure the get fed well but to think there treated like royalty is a big mistake. I don't think royalty ever had to fight in some cases to the death to be treated with respect. What happens to a dog after it loses a couple times? how do they get treated then? I compared the potential for harm to someone. Not the actual dog to a knife. I understand a dog has a mind and a knife doesn't. Humans also have minds, They also snap and injure/kill people and they do it with weapons which is why I used knife for an example. You need to realize people have trained these dogs to fight. So its the persons fault for example vick and his dogs. Those dogs could have been loving loyal pets just like my dogs have been but because of vick they were trained to fight. The dog doesn't have a say in the matter. Also its comforting to know you know guys who fight dogs still. I'm sure these dogs are a great influence on why you feel the way you do about them. Real good examples of the breed.
  7. First I don't think anyone is really disputing the fact that pitbulls were bred mainly for fighting but not all were. Also, there are many other breeds that have fighting in one way or the other in there background (bull baiting, bear baiting, and dog fighting). And a lot of these dogs have a common lineage and were bred to there modern day breed. Secondly, It hasn't been a few years since they were fought legally. Fights were banned in NY in the 1860's and the rest shortly there after. So the dogs that are being fought today are being fought by criminals and indeed by bad owners unless you think criminals are good respectful owners. Pitbulls are definitely not getting a fair shake but to ban them is outright ridiculous. If you use that logic everything that could have harmful outcomes would be banned. So unless you think guns, knifes, baseball bats, cars, and cellphones should be banned I would see no reason to ban any dog. That being said I am strongly for enforcing dog laws. And not because of the dogs but because of the people who own the dogs. Kind of like an unfit parent doesn't deserve a kid certain people don't deserve dogs. Just my $.02
  8. I don't think you can go wrong either way there both good. I use Fireline. I'm sure you'll have a split on who likes what.
  9. I agree to a point. The top dog is indeed an American Pitbull Terrier. The bottom one is a American Staffordshire Terrier, or Amstaff. I've owned and shown Amstaffs and by looking at it that isn't one. All those dogs from that farm are registered to the UKC not AKC and are listed as APBT not Amstaffs which is an AKC register
  10. MMan16, true, true..... Like I say, I've met a lot of really freindly pit bulls. However, as it has been pointed out, they have been bred for fighting, just like labs have been bred for swimming. I have to believe that "even" a properly raised pit bull, could potentially snap for no obvious reason, and do harm to strangers, or even their owners. Granted, I think this is rare.... But it's obviously a bigger problem than say, your pomeranian snapping, at which point you could simply drop kick him to the other side of the street CanalStalkin, I was (and kind of still am) so waiting for somebody to tell me, "Your crazy ! We love our Chow ! He's really freindly ! Yada, yada..... But hey, I've only known a few people that owned them.... and out of those few, two of them attacked family members, and other family pets, and were taken to the shelter to be put down. Ban Chows ! As for Pit Bulls....... My room mate suggested that they should ban "stupid people" from owning Pit Bulls Seriously though.... prior convictions... you can't own a Pit. You live in a ghetto... you can't own a Pit. You wear your pants half way down your ar$e, you can't own a pit (because if it got away, they could never run fast enough like that, to catch it There have been many dogs that have fighting in there bloodlines and I think people think its just pitbulls. Many various dogs fought in the rings against other animals any bulldog has it in there blood. They were used to fight there funny under bite was a characteristic that was encouraged because it helped them hold on. My parents rescued a Chow when I was little never had a problem he was a good dog. I have heard stories but that doesn't mean the breed is bad. I have owned Amstaffs, Bulldogs, and the rescued Chow never had a problem. I guess if you listen to stories I got lucky.
  11. I don't want to sound insensitive because I can sympathise with any tragedy. That being said I'm sure anyone In a horrible accident feels differently towards that particular thing. All that said you can not blame a whole race, or group, or breed, etc for the one. Things have to be taken on a case by case basis and almost never categorized.
  12. Not a bad idea. Been to Walmart lately? HAHa. Definitely a few prime candidates there.
  13. I have a 6'6" M F St Croix premier that I was using but I've been hearing a lot of guys on T.V. saying there using 7ft MH. It seems like that would be to stiff. Is there something I'm missing? What would be the benefits?
  14. I am looking to set aside one setup strictly for topwaters mostly poppers, sammy's, wakebaits, etc. I'm mostly concerned with the rods you guys prefer but all insight would be appreciated.
  15. Although I love dogs and agree that owners should be responsible for their pets I do think the pit bulls should be a banned. Pit bulls were bred to be fighting/killing dogs.Fighting to a Pit bull is like swimming to a Labrador retriever, they don't have to be taught how to do it, its in their nature. German Shepherds and Rottweilers are totally different. They are bred to protect their owners or herds, Yes they can be dangerous to other people but their guard dogs not fighting dogs. Captain Obvious By that statement I would have to say you don't actually know how many breeds were breed to fight. Statements like yours is why people think one particular dog should be banned (lack of knowledge). You can't ban one dog for a bunch of idiot owners and I'm not saying its always the owners fault sometimes a dog ANY dog can snap but then again so can humans maybe they should be banned or better yet only certain humans should be allowed to procreate.
  16. Black dog baits fake fish I believe.
  17. I've been using Fireline 50# for a couple seasons now and it seems to hold color pretty well. It did loss some color the first time out but the rest of the time its been just as green as after that initial color loss.
  18. Yeah, it's a vertical fall. He is talking about how the bait is positioned horizontally, not falling head first. Got it. I figured I was just misinterpreting what he was saying.
  19. Isn't it vertical fall? Anyway the only one I know of that doesn't fall like a senko is a SK Z-too. Maybe if it was used on a weighted hook but alone it seems to buoyant. When I use them they don't seem to fall at all which is nice cause I can skip them across the water surface like feeding/fleeing bait.
  20. I use Owner and Gamakatsu flippin hooks. But if I run out I use a wide gap. I think the flipping hooks allow for a smaller profile so you can get the baits through heavy cover. I haven't noticed a huge difference in hook up ratio.
  21. Owners Yuki bug has a paddle tail with an air chamber in it. In the water it stands straight up it kind of looks like a scorpion. It's produced pretty well for me and I just noticed they have a baby Yuki

Sorry, what I mean by seal is to coat the insides with a sealer whether it be a lacquer or an epoxy. I didn't know if this was necessary or if I can pour without sealing. Gotcha.

  24. Dobynns 766 champion flippin stick, 50# Fireline, and a Revo stx. I also use this for my frogs.

I'm not an expert by any means but if you seal up the two halves wont you have to brake them apart to get the grubs out? I would say use your nails in the holes and get some clamps. Nail it to align cavities clamp it snug then pour. Just my 2.
