Guide Insert Repair?
You can glue it back in. It may last a day, a year or never fall out. The proper way is to have the guide replaced.

I'm not aware of anyone else having one.

MHX FP885 Questions
It all depends on where you are installing seat as to what size parts you need. I thought MH had a chart giving blank dimensions at different points along the length for each model. Found it http://www.mudhole.com/assets/images/content/MHX-Dimensions-Winding-Checks-Exposed-Seats.pdf

Hook keeper or reel?
I use the hook keeper, but when I build a rod for trebel baits, I apply a coat of finish on the blank where the bait will rest, so it won't scratch the blank.

A Day With KVD - BASS Elite Series, Potomac River
One of my buddies was there too. He got 3 good draws. Justin Lucas on day 1, Iaconelli on day 2 and Skeet Reese on day 3. I haven't heard any stories from him yet.

Production rod balance
Like said, even going custom, that's an almost impossible task, unless you want an extraordinarily long rear grip. I have a 2.85oz DS rod that is tip heavy with a CI4. It needs a heavier reel. I have a 3.15oz DS rod that balances perfectly with a older Stradic MG, but felt BAD with a CI4. You need a heavier reel or to add weight to the butt to accomplish what you want.

Larger motor, how much gain in MPH?
My 17' Lund with 135 Honda tops out at 45-46 with just me in it and 42-43 with me, the wife and both dogs.

new handle
Some people have rods for different techniques. I have different DS rods for each bait I use!

new handle
You can never have enough DS rods!

new handle
This blank intrigues me. I just don't know where it would fit in my lineup with 3 SCVs and a NFC.

Do you get as much braid on your spinning reel as the manufacturer says?
Honestly can't say as I only put 50 yards of braid on any of my spinning reels, the rest is mono backing. I can say this, my TwinPower 2500HGS only holds 10 yards of backing and 50 yards of 15# TufLine XP.....and it's absolutely full.

Let engine idle or kill it / start it
I see no reason to shut it down. Sounds like excessive and unnecessary work for the starter.

Stella models
If you plan on using in salt, as your other post eluded to, you don't want the 2500s. That is a shallow spool model and holds about 50 yards of 15# braid.
- To those who think highend braid doesn't bleed...

Risk of ordering rods online
I'd order online long before buying off the shelf. Have you seen what the customers do to rods in a store?

Winn rod handle wraps
All EVA is not created equal. This isn't the foam of the past that falls apart after a year or two.

Field and Stream Sale - St Croix LTB rods
I think location plays a lot what the stores havem We have one locally that lacks in the fishing department but makes up on hunting. It is located in the middle of farmland with not much in the way of lakes nearby. The one in Erie caters to that fishery. There is a huge steelhead fly section and lots of walleye trolling lures. They carry a bunch of bass dropshot stuff too. Many high end reels and rod selection isn't too shabby.

Shimano spool size question
Just get a 2500 spool and put backer on it. The only reel I don't have backer on is the shallow spool on my TwinPower.

dobyns fury using different guides????
It's not a Fuji KW, but it appears to be a tangle-free of some sorts.

NFC 50% Off
IMO, no. Since they were introduced in 2010, I have built 3. One to submit to the NFC ARB program, one for myself and one UL for a customer.

NFC 50% Off
It certainly would be if there was any kind of demand for them. Noone complains when Croix puts rods on sale because when they do, it's because a model is being discontinued and every retailer has permission to reduce the price. St. Croix dictates the prices to the dealer. When speaking of St. Croix blanks, they can be sold by their 7 distributors at retail for retail customers or retail - xx% for wholesale. Once a model is discontinued, it can then be discounted.

NFC 50% Off
Nothing like a company sticking it to its dealers. Selling direct to the consumer below dealer cost is a great way to maintain relations with your distribution network!

Guide prep tip
You can tell when I'm going to be working with micros by how short my fingernails are!

Guide prep tip
I use a Dremel with a 1" dia. stone. at about 10000 rpm. I did pick up one of these to try out for shaping grips on the lathe. I can see potential disaster using 2 power tools at once!
