  1. Your best bet is to find someone local that works on rods. You have about 9 different tube sizes to fit the blank and 7 different ring sizes to match the guides on lighter duty rods.
  2. Remember, "made in America" doesn't mean USA. St Croix used to put that on the rods made in their Mexico facility.
  3. I don't know why they charge more for the split grip model when less cork is used. Are there some other better components on it that make up the difference in price?
  4. All you're gonna be able to salvage for the new build is the guides. Best bet is to start over.
  5. Traditional tip top. The only rods I've ever seen built with a single foot guide wrapped as a tip are float rods.
  6. My 610 mlxf victory feels way less powerful than my mlxf Legend Elites. I would call it more of a light power.
  7. I built this to go into a seat post base.
  8. I have a friend on the TW Pro Circuit who is sponsored by them. I fixed a couple guides over winter for him, seem like pretty nice sticks.
  9. I used the uni-uni for many years. A few years ago, I switched to the GT knot. It's much stronger than the uni and not as complicated as the FG.
  10. Sounds like it might be a spigot ferrule.
  11. I cover even when wet. I don't want all that road spray and grime inside my boat from the tow home. Uncover once the rain stops so it can dry out.
  12. Why are Sage rods so much?? The few I built, the blank itself was $450. Are they worth it? Who knows, but the fly guys pay insane amounts of money for their gear. They're worse than musky guys!
  13. No different. I start the day with a 18' leader and most of it is on the spool when I cast.
  14. Rainshadow has a good variety in every price range.
  15. Im ready to remove mine. It either reads 20mph or 55mph. It's useless. No reason to have it with a GPS.
  16. Are we forgetting that not too long ago there was a rule on the bass tours that no rod could be over 8' long?
  17. Any waterproof wood glue or two-part epoxy will work just fine.
  18. Lowe's, Home Depot........Sch 40 PVC. Weight is irrelevant because if the shape. Today I shipped a 3" x 7'6" tube from PA to NY with $200 insurance for $13.50
  19. I remember when that went down. Jason Brunner from St. Croix talked about it in a seminar at the ICRBE. They were using the 3M nanoresin a year before they advertised it was in their blanks. 3M wanted Croix to print their logo on the rods and they refused. Then the Pure fishing deal happened and Croix came up with another resin system
  20. I have a spare aluminum for the outboard and one for the trolling motor.
  21. It's like 0.112" deep with the sticker removed
  22. Give me a few minutes, I'll measure. I think I have one with the sticker peeled

  24. Mudhole sells one with a black sticker in the middle that you can peel off. I use them for butt caps when I want to encapsulate something. I peel the sticker off, put whatever I want in there, and pour epoxy around it.
  25. Regardless of what it would take to bend it back, the wrap is also torn. Bending and applying epoxy is just a bandaid fix
