Bait monkey question
@Justbass11 I believe the boat monkey and bait monkey have meetings. If you buy boat stuff you’ll go out on the water more and in turn you’ll but more tackle stuff.

Recommended sling packs for bank fishing?
I have the TW sling pack, holds two 3600 boxes. I like that you can spin to the front and have access to gear and it not spilling out. Sippers are on the side that is facing up. Everything is handy and very little of having to dig for things. Overall I’m happy with it and it works for me.

Long time reader figured I’d join and maybe start posting a little bit
Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida. Could ya post some pics of your boat…. Never heard of a spectrum. V-bottom, Jon boat, Mod-V?

Putting on line question
Berkeley line spooler max It’s $50+ if you buy it new, I kept searching eBay and got it for $20+. I like that you take off your spinning reel spool and clamp it to the crank. It spools it the way it the way it comes off the spool of line. It’s plastic and a little cheap but it does work. Bait casters it has reel seat to put the reel on, it is finicky but after a few times I got the hang of it.
- Unexpected.

Glad your back and online.. @Captain Phil missed ya.

Bass Pro Shop Johnny Morris Baitcasting Combo
I went to BPS to buy a Lews reel, ended up leaving with a JM Carbonlite combo, which I have been super happy with. They had a Lews reel right beside the carbonlite, the only difference was the color. The young man behind the counter noticed I was comparing them, said with a smile “ they are both made by Doyo.” The Carbonlite is one of my favorite setups, so like @Eric 26 mentioned do there and compare.

Favorite spinnerbaits?
@Falkus you got my curiosity up and I went up the shop and checked out the spinner baits. None of them actually were correct to what they said they were. My scale is in grams.. so every 7 g = 1/4 oz

Oxblood Red Flake
@Drew03cmc check out this site. https://www.bittersbaitandtackle.com/ I think it would be the magic wand …. Now, let me tell ya, I have never used them. It got suggested to me, very reasonably priced and a lot of colors. They sell in bulk too. I’m going to be placing an order with them soon. Might work for ya.

What Happened?
I did the same thing with hard baits, one whole season nothing but crank bait or jerk baits. I had a lot of days with no fish, but at the end of the season, I was catching fish. @SJS as far as line goes… I use Berkeley Big Game mono, green. Is it the best for Texas rigging… don’t know…. I use it on everything.

Best Day with a Jig EVER! (Sort of)

Joedodge boat build/set up
At least you got out on the water. Is it easy to load and unload?

What Happened?
We have a lot of silt here on bottom, so I don’t do a slow drag , mor of a two hop yo-yo kinda thing. I’m a line watcher too, when I real up the slack. I look to see if the line is more in a direction it’s not supposed to be going. If I feel any resistance or the line is moving …. I set the hook. Or try too haha

Favorite spinnerbaits?
That’s interesting…. All mine are 1/2 oz… I wonder if it is area specific…. Are we talking about the same ones? Bottom shelf pig piled in boxes.

The Lost Art of Drift Fishing
This is where I fish a lot, Ocklawaha… there is a lot more to it, I just screen shot one section enlarged for better viewing. It’s hard to drift fish, because I need the trolling motor to keep myself heading in the right direction when going with the current.

Favorite spinnerbaits?
I bet everyone is getting tired of me saying this….Walmart brand. $1.25…. They have a lot of different colors and blades. You just have to keep checking when you go. One time it will be willow blades, awhile later it be Colorado blades. You can stop by the arts and craft department and get different color beads if ya want to jazz them up. Ozark trail has their brand out now too, I think they are $2 +.

My Plan for 2026
I think I’m going to go with https://fishtechy.com/ proofball. It has good reviews and is pretty consistent. I was wondering… does anybody ever send thier scales out to be calibrated? Mine are analog and a few years old. I’m only in competition with myself anyway, or a few of my friends…. Bragging rights and a cold drink. You’d be surprised what some would do for a cold beer though…hahaha
