  1. I use them right out the package, nice, new, slick and shiny. Honestly I’ve never heard of scuffing them, seen people stretch them.
  2. I never really used grubs….. I have a few packs, just never really fished them. I seen people use them in salt water. I always kinda thought of them as a trailer.
  3. TW has them on clearance too

  5. Nice catch I m sorry for changing the subject but what and and where did you get the plier holster
  6. I have a few thermometers and one weather station.. I have a couple mercury thermometers and a spring analog, plus a few rain gauges. As far as being accurate….. most digital stations are + or - a certain %.. should be in your paper work. Even a certified one is only as good as the person certifying it and the base line thermometers. Like @padlin said … microclimates….it makes a difference.. It can be as much as 5* warmer from the dock to our house( 200 ft). It’s been 5*- 7* colder down the driveway and into the open field. We have always been 3*-5* warmer than what the computer or weather channel listed. I guess it’s a realitive to exactly were your weather station is placed, out in the open, under trees, etc… Even how high or low you put it, the official height is 2 meters(6 1/2ft). There is other criteria’s too, white louvered enclosure, yada yada… ( it’s on google). They have weather stations that are Wi-Fi and you can check while away from the house, and there is a few out there that if you join. A weather app gets it and complies it’s findings to post. I’d say I’m interested in the weather but I’m not a “weather nerd”.

The Nehi ( orange) was my drink of choice when I was a kid.
  8. SSHHHHH….SHHHUUSSSHHHH. Don’t say that out loud….If you put a number on it, it can be calculated. If it can be calculated and get equation, then a result with an end number. You could convert that to a dollar amount… with that, “Heaven forbid” you ask yourself “WHY”
  9. I don’t think of topwater in seasons, But time of day. I’ve noticed topwaters are more productive in early mornings, or late afternoon. Now let me say, I have caught them in the middle of the day too, they just seem to work better for me in early or late evenings. On what type of topwater….. I let water conditions dictate which one I use. Nice clam morning, shallow water…. I like a popper or walking bait. Breezy, slight ripple, shallow ….. I like a prop bait type, that still floats. If the water is a little deeper with chop…. I like a buzzbait, but I like to pause a buzzbait , let it sink for a few seconds (like 3 or so). Then use the rod tip to pull it back up the the surface, man you can feel the vibrations. Does it attract them, I don’t know, but I catch them, sometimes on the pause and it’s sinking, or just after it breaks the surface and starts to prop again. Whopper Plopper… Never caught a fish on one…..not for lack of trying, never even got a strike on one. So no season, water conditions or time of day do they work for me. Let me put a disclaimer. This is the way I fish them, and I like fishing them this way, might not work for you.
  10. https://majorleaguefishing.com/archives/2003-12-09-california-woman-breaks-perry-s-71-year-old-largemouth-record-or-does-she/ Came across this a while back, never checked on its authenticity
  11. A few years back, a tournament was going on. Somebody caught a double digit, 4-5 hundred feet north of my dock. I don’t know who it was, I don’t keep up on tournaments. Anyway, it was the buzz around here for awhile, it lasted around a month…. Then back to normal. First week, a ba-zillion boats and people, drones flying around. It was quite the sight, second week, about 30% of the first week. Third week, 10% of the original crowd …. Fourth week back to normal. I think it might get blown up for a while then, then it will be business as usual.

  13. Keel hook….. haven’t heard them called that in a long time…..
  14. Texas rigged, straight or ribbon tail worms are my favorite and most productive for me. Like @A-Jay said good place to start and you can fish it almost anywhere. Just have to keep trying different colors and different retrievals. Colors…. Green pumpkin, junebug, black and something red. Venture out from the with different variations….. glitters, etc… Retrieving…. You got yo-yo ing it, drag it on bottom, straight crank….slow, fast. It is really kinda endless…. Have fun
  15. I don’t think I would, even if I did. The St.John’s River is over 300 miles long. The Ocklawaha, where I do most of my fishing, is 75 miles long. You have above and below the dam, and a Ka-zillion little creeks and channels off it. So if I did “claim the fame” I don’t think it would matter. X2^

Hi, from the sunshine state of Florida.
  17. When I lived in NC, I live in Fl now. I would fish when it was cold, snow and ice around the edges of the river. Don’t know what the water temperature was. The lure that caught the most for me was a green pumpkin jig, (Arkie) with a green pumpkin or watermelon paca craw (Netbait). I would fish the deep spots in the river, let it go the bottom and ever so slowly work it back with a few slow hops now and then. I carefully would grid out the section of river, fish it throughly. My numbers weren’t big, but I caught a few. I also remember putting a cookie sheet underneath my rod and reel standing in the corner to catch the water as it thawed. As I thawed out from numb fingers and toes, the pins and needles you’d get while warming up. The things we do for fishing.
  18. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends.
  19. I have to send mine in, got the address off line. I don’t know about what the rule is now, but when I had mine. I mailed them in and, waited…..and waited…… then waited some more. It didn’t cost me anything but shipping. I get them now from Walmart in the fishing section now, I can have a few pairs stashed around, boat shop truck. Davy jones is wearing my costas.
  20. Great article, I see somethings I could change in my fishing habits. Thanks
  21. Hi BR I my notifications or mail icon wasnt working. I signed out , cleared history, I don’t have google chrome. I messed something up. Can’t sign back in on my IPad. I am working off my phone now. Any help would be appreciated Thanks GRiver
  22. I use X-9, but not on a ultra-lite…. I like it, hasn’t faded much, and it seems to be the quieter than the power pro I was using. Can’t speak for the other haven’t used it. I’m use 40lb, moss green, on my spinning rig for around docks and stuff. Hope this helps.
  23. I’ve fished for trout- creeks and streams and lakes, I flipped to salt- seawalls and bridges. Switched to small mouth- wade fishing, mostly small rivers. My flipping from small mouth to large mouth was the most challenging. Almost all the same gear, and bait , lures,…etc. Accessibility was the biggest issue, getting to where they were. When I moved from NC to Fl, I banked and dock fished, but most of the bank fishing is rough in Fl. It is mostly private property or fenced by city or state. Getting my humble little boat changed it for me. @Swamp Girl I get ya. I don’t want to be that person staring at the screen. I would miss too much going on around me. I am not knocking electronics , please don’t get the wrong impression. I think its cool, and neat. My friends have them. They are a great fishing aid. I was even looking at some new gear, mapping, side and down imaging. It was on sale, had a place picked out on the console where to mount it and everything. While was playing with the buttons and looking at the screen, I realize that would be my view for the day. I walked away.
  24. I just glad you’re back…. When I first saw “site closed” I panicked. It’s going to take me a bit of time to learn the new site… I was just getting used to the old one hahah. I’m a dinosaur in a high-tech world. Thanks for looking out for us Glenn and making things easier.
  25. It’s way easier and take less time to steal the whole trailer, and remove what they want at their leisure. If you really think about it, with all the cordless tools they have out now, thieves could strip you trailer in no time at all.
