  1. I’m cheap when it comes to buzz baits, I get the Walmart brand for $1.25 ea. At that price, I chuck them in all kinds of cover. They have a bunch of colors, but I mostly use black and a blue gill. I don’t use trailers on buzz baits.
  2. I wish I had the room in my little boat to carry a rod for each presentation. I have to use multi-purpose rigs. One thing that I noticed you use a lot fluorocarbon line. I spooled a couple of rigs with it when it first came out, had nothing but trouble with it. Between knots and birds nest, I took it off. I need to give it another try, be hard to give up my tried and true Big Game.
  3. @Hartwood71 what color is that? I looks like a ribbon or curly tail. Im going along the tamaimi trial in June, hope to catch one then.
  4. As always, like your articles and videos @Glenn . I didn’t see any mention of the peacock bass, which is on my bucket list. Does anybody know what part of the family it is?
  5. The conduit ribs is a great idea. When ya get a chance, next time you’ve got it uncovered. Would like some pics of how he mounted the coupling to the gunwale. I know you got it all buttoned up for the snow so no hurry.
  6. @Joedodge You might not want to put a recess for foot pedal in just yet. I left my loose on the deck to figure out where I wanted it. I went out a couple times, moved here and there, realized I don’t want it mounted or recessed anywhere. I like that I able to move it around and fish off ether side, and work the foot pedal where ever is comfortable for me. Oh yea…. And thanks @gim I’ll never be able to use my foot pedal without think about Capt. Morgan. Plus the music for Pirates of the Caribbean is playing in my head. Thanks Buddy! 😆 hahaha
  7. AMAZING……THAT IS TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL. How n the world did you find something like that.
  8. Cleaning up real nice…. I love a good boat build.
  9. I have some swim baits… but mine are cheap swim baits….around $25.00 give or take a few bucks. I honestly don’t fish them like I should…. I don’t want to loose them. I just don’t chuck them where I should, I’ll take a cheap lure and put it in the rough stuff and around trees and rocks. So I really don’t have any that cost a lot …. I know myself. Think I’m too cheap.haha
  10. I’ve got 2 group 24 batteries, (one trolling, one cranking), plus 6 gal portable fuel tank under the rear deck. 15 ft aluminum boat. This how it sits it the water without anybody in it. I have had another person drive the boat. I moved around during takeoff. It really didnt change getting on a plane time at all, less than a second of anything. I had a 12/36 flat bottom with a tiller controls, I realized where was at affected it more than anything. With me and the motor being all the to the back made it slow getting on a plane. PVC extension on the tiller put me midway in the boat. My weight up there made a lot difference.
  11. Sitting 12yrs has done more damage than anything. In reality you probably should have put some lube in the cylinder, let it sit for a few days then, with a socket and breaker bar, cycle the cylinders. On the other end I seen people (me included) just fresh fuel, pump the ball, and light the fuse, so to speak. Just a reminder, non-ethanol or ethanol free fuel. Some of those components, may or may not be compatible with ethanol.
  12. I live not to far from Crescent City, good read.
  13. I have a 12v/45lb motor guide, with foot pedal steering, on a 15/48 - mod-V aluminum.…it came with the boat. I’ve never had an issue with it. Regular windy days are no problem. But if where to have to buy a new one I would go with the biggest 12v one I could get.
  14. My BIL is a fireman, when a battery car catches fire, they let them burn themselves out. Ether move other property from around it or he told me they have thrown chains and will drag them to an area where they just let them burn.
  15. Another suggestion…. Take the boat out this season…just make it safe and fishable. Make notes every time you take it out on what you would change, or add to it. Find out where your local recycle or scrap yard is… great place to buy aluminum pieces.
  16. @Joedodge here is a couple sites I got a lot of ideas from. https://tbnation.net Tiny boat nation is pricey, but I got a lot great ideas from it. And another one Aluminum Boat & Jon/V Boat Discussion ForumAluminum Boat & Jon/V Boat Discussion ForumThe original aluminum boat community!
  17. I have a motor guide 45lb….. I use a group 24 lead acid. I get 4-6 hr easy. I am on and off on the trolling motor, it it’s not a solid run time test. With that said I’ve never ran out ether. I went with lead acid because of the cost, lithium are so expensive.
  18. Congratulations, looks like a solid rig. Please keep sending pics of your build.
  19. @Hartwood71 Thats the million dollar question. One group wants the d**n completely removed, restore the natural flow. Another group wants it lower to reduce pressure on the underwater springs and stop lake water from entering the underground water table. Yet another group…. Wants the dam left alone due to all the people that was bought as watefront property and will left will not so waterfront land.
  20. Wow I hope spring thaw comes soon for you. Haha… just kidding. Thanks for the chart, I’m going to print it and put it up in the shop.
  21. Not only do they work as stick pins, they are push poles too. I turn them upside down and push with the handle down for softer bottoms. One of the cheapest and most useful DIY on the boat. They have two kinds of tree stakes one is hollow and one is solid fiberglass, hollow ones will bend and collapse.
  22. They are supposed to propose a plan….. wonder what plan that would be? I fish a lot below the dam, closer to St. John’s, i don’t know what they could do that’s it wouldn’t effect Rodman reserve.
  23. I brought a telescopic rod with a baitcaster and a spare BFS spool…. All for the whopping price of $38.00 bucks. Like everyone has said it took awhile to get here. For a cheap toss around in my truck reel it was ok.
  24. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida.
