What buzzbaits do you prefer, brand and do you prefer to use skirt only, skirt and trailer, only trailer? What type of skirt, what type of trailer? Color? Size? Do you ever use a double blade, if yes which one and why? I normally use a black Cavitron with a skirt only, but am willing to give others a try.

skirted with a spunk shad trailer and trailer hook. Black skirt with chartreuse tips (hand tied). GP chartreuse or white over chartreuse trailer (it’s just for the chartreuse belly). I’ll throw 1/4 up to 1/2 ounce baits depending how fast I want to move them.

And you asked brands. Mostly, I’m throwing hand tied ones that my dad makes up. The body looks like the frog buzzer preformed bodies from LPO and the skirts are fire tip black/chartreuse. He likes to tie them up in the winter for something to do. I also fish the strike king sugar buzz and the accent wheeler (regular and finesse). They all work. The main differences are how well they each say tuned after catching fish.

I think I have a couple of old strike kings. Usually white skirt, double winged blade, no trailer. I also have 1 or 2 that I put plastic quad winged blades on. White skirt no trailer.

If you switch out the back rivet and put a steel one on, after a few times using it the steel oxidizes and make quite a racket with the blade rotating on it.

I pretty much keep it simple with buzzbait.

Oh 1/4 and 1/2 oz

I still like the Original Lunker Lure. white, chartreuse, black or a natural baitfish colored skirt . White probably my most productive over the years. 1/2 oz for castability. Usually I dont use a trailer. Sometimes I'll use a trailer hook, sometimes not.

I’m cheap when it comes to buzz baits, I get the Walmart brand for $1.25 ea. At that price, I chuck them in all kinds of cover. They have a bunch of colors, but I mostly use black and a blue gill. I don’t use trailers on buzz baits.

I like the War Eagle for full size and the Accent 5/16 compact. I match them with a Zoom Z Craw. Color is simple with white and black.

War Eagle with a Zoom horny toad. Usually dark colors

I have plenty of different brands that I've tried and can't really say one specific brand that is amazing compared to others. I use White, Chartreuse, Black with a trailer hook and use a variety of size/weight 5/16,3/8,1/2

I use two brands of buzz baits.

The Boogerman Buzz Bait in 1/4 and 3/8oz. when fishing around home. When I’m at Toledo Bend or Sam Rayburn (or anywhere there are is a better chance at 6 lb+ fish) I will use the Boogerman Magnum Buzz.

I also still use the Lunker Lure in 3/8 and 1/2.

As for colors I only use 3:

Black/Black Blade during low light conditions — White/Gold Blade in bright conditions —Chartreuse/Anodized Green Blade when the water has a greenish to tint.

90% of the time I will use the old style rubber spinner bait skirt for the trailer. I will on occasion use a Horny Toad on the back.

The main thing for me with a buzz bait is it has to squeak on the retrieve. I have absolutely no confidence in a buzz bait that doesn’t squeak.

I fish a lot of Lunker Lure buzzbaits in white and white / chartreuse. The only two sizes I use are 1/4 and 1/2 ounce.

Cavitron and Lunker Lure are my2 main buzzbaits both 1/2 oz and in white.

The buzzbait was one of the first baits I really had confidence in as an 11 or 12 YO. The fist few I bought from the Greater Sportsman Show in PA, which were homemade.

I had bought some cheapo buzzers from wal mart and quickly found they werent as effective as the homemade custom ones. The blades were much smaller, the hooks weren't very good, and the blades would stop spinning often.

I tried SK buzzers next and they weren't as good as the ones from the show either. I still stuck with them for 2 or 3 years until Booyah launched. They were as good as the homemade baits IMO and I liked them more than the SK ones.

I went to grab another black on black booyah on day and my local shop was out of them. The owner suggested a Cavitron and he was right about evry other suggestion so I grabbed a few.

I liked the large blade and the holes made a good bubble trail. They come up on plane very quick and dont get bogged down easily.

Ive never had a reason to look for a better buzzbait as I like everything about the Megastrike.
