  1. I have a revo sx (09) and I use it for tossing swimbaits. After a few months it has started to feel like there is some resistance when reeling, I have oiled the bearings as well as the anti reverse bearing. Are there any suggestions or insights as to why this may be happening? Thanks in advance!
  2. Does this bait sit upright on the bottom or lay on its side?
  3. Turning it around is an interesting thought. Are you using a mono backing as well? Then maybe you'll get 4x the usage out of a spool. I always use a backing. I fill half the spool with mono/copoly that I dont use anymore, and top it off with braid. And yes, you do get 4x more out of a spool of braid.
  4. -People that use their spinning reels upside down. -"fishermen" that use those 8' white saltwater fishing rods from Walmart at the local city lake and still fish their spinning reels upside down -bait fisherman that take up prime real estate at the lake I fish at, they have about 3-5 rods lined up over a stretch of 10-30 feet apart. I just want to take a crankbait with some braid and snag all their lines and break them off...
  5. The camo braid fades QUICK!!! It turns into the the light brown color that is on the line already. A trick that I learned is that if it fades take the braid off and reverse it, getting more mileage out of it. With that said I have not had a problem with it, it is strong, and gets the job done. Last thing is that after good use it starts to lose its compact round shape and expands a little.
  6. Currently I am using a Revo SX high speed for my swimbaits, and have read that a slower ratio reel is far more advantageous for swimbaits. I love the Revo series(I have the 2010 Revo SX and 09 SX-HS) and don't have the cash for the higher end models. What do you all think of the Revo S for tossing swimbaits? I was thinking of getting the Revo S and using the SX-HS for my jig/worm/spinnerbait reel.
  7. Recently I have been getting into throwing swimbaits, and the rod that I have is rated to 2oz. Are there any swimbaits that any of you know of that are larger than 6", maybe around 7-10" that weigh 2oz.? I'm currently throwing 6" Weedless Hudds, 6" SPRO BBZs, and 5" Decoy Hydra Tails. Just looking for a bigger presentation. Thanks in advance!
  8. To solve that problem, what I do with baits that require a weighted hook is to take the hook point and insert it into the bait as normal, then back it out and starting with the hook eye, push that through the hole that you made and rig the rest as normal. That will save you on the spit and stretch. Hope that makes things easier! You can also rig the bait prior to tying your line. Instead of going in the front with the point push the hook eye into the bait where the point would otherwise come out. Then, push the eye out the front of the bait enough to tie on and afterwards push the eye back in the bait a bit. The hook will still be positioned the same as before it's just inserted from the opposite direction. I'm sure there's an illustration or video showing this method. I know my instructions probably aren't the best so I'll try to find a video. Thats what I was trying to explain
  9. or just use a screwlock weighted hook...

  11. yes it does, thanks! ill try it tomorrow. and on another note, i also fish a lake that has little to no cover(city park lake) so any little edge i can get will help. the lake i fish gets bombarded with every lure known to man, so im always looking for a different presentation.
  12. Thanks for the answers, what about the pitch skipping though? I have done it a total of TWO times succesfully and ever since then, never again...
  13. are you guys skipping with baitcasters or spinning reels? Also are you guys pitch skipping or sidearm skipping. I can skip with spinning gear, but when it comes to casting its backlash city most of the time... Still having trouble with the pitch skip...
  14. You should look into the Decoy Hydra Tail Swimbait. I have a couple and they basically are a 5" Hudd with a different style tail. They sink slow and the tail kicks with a slow retrieve. Another cool factor to these baits are that most of the time when they hit bottom they land upright. http://www.***.com/Decoy_5_Hydra_Tail_Swimbait/descpage-DHT.html#multiview
  15. pre rigged swimbaits like a Hudd.
  16. Anyone know how to make the top hook swimbaits weedless? For example adding wire to the line tie like some weedless hooks do? Or adding a jig weedguard somehow? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
  17. I recently picked up a PD Chopper, and intitial impression was that this was one cool looking swim jig. And fishing it, I paired it up with an optimum double diamond and it looks great in the water, it has a subtle wobble and when at rest on the bottom it more often than not sits upright. I wouldn't buy another one because Optimum sells a similar jighead and they come in packs of three. They do not have skirts on them, but you can always add one. Lastly the Zappu PD Chopper is made of tungsten and the Optimum Diamond jighead is made of lead. If you wanted to experiment, I would suggest starting out with the Optimum jigheads and customize them how you like.
  18. Does anyone have any experience or comments/reviews of this reel? It looks like a nice reel for the money...
  19. Im looking for longer shank shakey heads for 6" or longer worms. Do any of you shakey headers know of any jigs that fit this description? Or would any shakey head jig with a 5/0 hook or larger work? Thanks!
  20. Do you know what hooks they use? Man, they are the "stickiest" I have ever fished! I believe the hooks on those are the VMC Barbarian Outbarb hooks. I have put those on some of the baits in the lot you bought from me.
  21. I use the Wave Worms Tiki Tubes, they are cheap and have a solid head for rigging, these walk the dog well with a weighted hook. The other brand I use are the Zman Toobz, they last forever and float, so you can do as you want with them, topwater, or weight for subsurface walking.
  22. X2!!!!! I fish at local city park lakes, and families with little kids running around really set me off, they are screaming, chasing ducks, standing too close to me... And when I ask them nicely to move back, they only take a step back so I have to ask them again in a more stern tone, and they take another step back, and they dont get the fact that they will get smacked in the head with my rod or lure if they are too close to me( I wish that would happen so they learn...). Another thing about kids is that their parents dont watch them. And the last, most irritating thing is when there are field trips to the lake and there are 15+ kids running around yelling and screaming, and when I throw my swimbaits and pull them out of the water, they always seem to notice and ALL of them run over screaming "HE CAUGHT A FISH!!!! HE CAUGHT A FISH!!!" and gather around me and ask me if I caught a fish and if they could look/touch it. I have had this morbid urge to say "Go ahead, and see what happens..." hoping they would stick themselves on one of the trebles and leave me alone. I know that sounds A**holish of me, but they need to learn somehow...

  25. I recently got a Bass Pro Nitro Big Bass rod thats 7'10" MH/F that is rated 3/8-2oz, for $89 and change. So far im loving it. I am able to fit in into my '07 Camry, just put the back seat down, and put the rod in through the trunk and rest it on the center armrest. I can actually fit a longer rod if I need to and put it up on the dash if it is that long. (I dont have a rod that long, and dont really plan on getting one). The Altima is probably roughly the same size as a Camry and I do not think that it would be a problem for you, provided your car has a 60/40 split backseat.
