  1. I think there are days during the winter that calls for a little of both tactics. I'm not a fan on small stuff and finesse, but if I won't to get a goose egg off the board, its an option that some times improves the Odds. There are days I love double skirted jigs, slow the fall, and makes the bait more bulky, thus displaces more water on the fall. And days I love big 3/4- 1oz spinner baits slow rolled in 10-15 ft of water for that big bite. Early 90's, big spinner baits accounted for some hefty bass on Fork. From experience, you can start throwing a red to orange lipless bait on Fork as of now thru March. 1/4 to 1/2 may produce numbers and some real good chunks, but the big trap 3/4oz will hang a bigger sow. Same rule applies as does to larger swim baits. You don't get alot of bites, but the ones you do are normally big girls gone wild. I go fishing to hopefully catch some fish. Experiment with baits and eventually, you figure it out.
  2. One of the best articles, informative wise, that Ive read that came from a magazine in a long time.
  3. 19.52 won the tournament. big bass 6.4 and 6.27
  4. kodiak, where are you from? Matt
  5. pkhunter, Welcome to the forum, Wished you would of shown up two years ago, as Fork was on the menu for the first two years. Anyway, glad you found us, we hope to see you on Guntersville next year, and the more the merry. Hookem matt
  6. What does 3900 yen equate to in our lowly american dollar. Raul, something that I guess I have taken for ....... I assumed that you pay with american green backs as well. Sorry for that. Do you getter a better price with the Peso? I again assume that you pay with credit card. Does exchange rates come into play that much or at all? Matt

Was in BPS Garland TX yesterday, didn't see any good deals on LC's. Please, if any one see's a good deal on high end lures, please give us a heads up. Getting a few dollars off some 15.99 baits helps.
  8. Sorry for the problems Muddy, but that don't really work for me, i don't buy combos. I would definetly point out the false advertisement to the manager, but would also read fine print that requires me to get reading glasses. Have you ever read that fine print that says stores may substitute equivalent as needed if supplies run low, or no rain checks and etc.........
  9. Thats an awesome video. Just joking, if we are supposed to watch it, it didn't play for me.
  10. I don't know about being "too" old, but, when both grand parents, and mom and dad have passed, you klnow that you are no longer a youngster, maybe in heart, but truth is, you are getting long in tooth yourself. Funny, when your young, you thought of death and it scares you cause your so young, and when you get older, its no longer a fear factor. what does that mean? I'm not old, but do realize that I'm not young either. Matt
  11. Big T, And here I thought some one was gonna say they saved money on their car insurance or stayed in a Holiday Inn last night. Congrats to you. I re-entered college at the age of 38 and completed my degree in 2003. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, funny, those were just words at one time, now they kinda mean something to me. Good luck, Matt
  12. Muddy and Rocky Top, sounds like P & J, just goes together. NOT!!!! Muddy should pick a Mississippi team, then he can sing the blues for real. In the SEC, the Mississippi's rarely beat anyone in conference. Just go back and look at the past 10 years, records dont lie. We all know Muddy loves the blues, so what better of a team to root for, a team that is always singing the blues because of loosing, pick one or all. Home of the real Blues.
  13. Cold fronts don't help the numbers game on most occassions, but tossing a jig during those conditions has been known to catch a toap of a lifetime. Seems to me, those that brave the worsened conditions are often rewarded with a hefty toad from Fork. At this time, I have no plans for, oops, Horns and Aggies on Friday, so I may be tied up on that mid afternoon day. Saturday might be an option. I know I willl be fishing somewhere sometime over the next few days. Where will ya'll be launching from on Fork? What will ya'll be riding in? Matt
  14. There are some good ones on here. You know the bass bug has smitten you when you drop the hammer on a day that has 20 mile an hour winds and the temp reads 28 degrees, and yet you put her on plane to make a long run to that favorite hole. When ladies ear rings ressembles something you think would add flash to your favorite spinner bait. When theres more loose tackle on your dresser than normal stuff you find on your dresser. And finally, you know the Bass Bug has got you when at the end of the year, you have kissed more bass than you did your other half for the year.
  15. Sunday was glassed on the lake all day for the most part. L Train, my transmitter for my Trolling motor flew away. I was highly upset for my bonehead mistake. I had 9lbs on 4 at noon, my best time yet to come, but being DIW with no way of operating the trolling motor, I was frustrated. I did catch supper, had nice Yellow cat on crank in the livewell. I called it a day at noon. Made it home for the girl friend parents to show up and the Cowboys game. Went to BassPro last night and bought two hand held transmitters and i'm going to get another wireless footcontrol at Lake Fork Motor Guide USA Parts. Came out spending 140. on cranks, and 120 on transmittters. I'll mail off the 2 entries for Dec 1 and 8th later today. Matt
  16. Born in Odessa, raised all over Texas. Matt
  17. Bad front pushes through on T Giving day around 3 pm, and I haven't looked at weekend forecast yet. To me, the fishing depends on when the wind shifts back. I'll try to post as I see more of the weather. Matt
  18. My deer lease is just south of the Abilene State Park lake, the same one Catt references I think. Couple of miles the way the crow flies. Never fished that lake, Ivey is to close. Some big bass are hidden in Ivie, and the smallies are starting to show up on most toorney stringers. Lake is down and LM are tough, but smallies are willing to play. Matt
  19. Muddy, to explain Big XII conference play, As you know, the south and north each have 6 teams. Every year, each divison plays the normal 5 teams, then 3 of the other teams. Catch is, they play the same 3 colleges two years in a row, there home once and ours once, then you rotate the other three colleges in. Example. Texas played all south colleges and the north colleges, We played Neb in Lincoln last year and then Neb played us in Austin this year. We also had Iowa St and Kansas St. Next year, we will have Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado for the next 2 seasons. Muddy, we will catch Mizz on bad years, Mizz's program is maturing, and their QB will be inplace for his 3rd and 4th season, as will Kansas. So there is some luck involved at catching a college on rebuilding or when they should be peaking. The non conference games are normally schedules as much as 5 years down the road, so you may have cream puff to start with, but in 5 years, a small school may have gotten lucky and found Reggie Bush or Vince Young and that creampuff is no longer a gimmie, its a more interesting game. Matt
  20. Welcome aboard HC. Matt
  21. First off, iits not in stone just yet that OU makes the Big XII game. Before the SEC took Les Miles a few years ago, OSU had beaten OU 2 out 0f 3 years. You never know what OSU team will show up, the team that can put 45 on you in a couple of quarters or the one who gets tired and don't play defense and gives up 45 on their own. I'm pulling for KU to get title shot as well. Even if my Horns some how stumbled into the championship game, I'd like KU to win out and play in the big dance. This is were preseason non conference games should come into play, those that played tougher teams should get bid to play bigger bowl games, those that played the normal creap puff schedule should not be rewareded. This year is gonna be hard to say what one loss team deserves to be champ if it ends up that way.

I was impressed with the attention to detail of the preping of his burial uniform by each unit member. Totally surprised by his death.

Sorry to see that last night. I'm not so sure that Arizona wins with Dixon healthy. One thing for sure was, Oregon didn't appear to have much of a defense last night.
  25. I would say my two daughters and grandson, High maintenance, but worth every penny.
