  1. I heard that this afternoon. I was wondering, why it took 4 years to reach this decision. What new information they might have that contributed to the outcome. The Book of Shadows, what part(s) if any contributed to the decisions? Matt
  2. The most productive pattern in East Texas has to be throwing Red traps on top of the grass Mid morning even on Cold days, but the sun is shining, a trap burned across the top of grass produces. Its more of a reaction strike, than bite.
  3. There isn't one time in the year that lipless baits don't catch fish. 40 degree temps on up to the 80's,
  4. Classical!!!!!!!!Make a great newspaper headline!
  5. Little_Minnow First time to see your post. Welcome to the forum. I will be on Eagle Mountain for first time tournament in june 2008. You guys need to hook up and get me some info please. texas_boy sounds like he's ready to fish. Matt
  6. texas_boy You need to say here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty, Catt would be subject matter expertise on T Bend. Any east tx lake right now is prime water. Fall feeding in full force. Matt
  7. Reguardless of what you've heard rumor mill wise, Ricky Williams has been re-in-stated to play as early as Nov. If this commish re-instated Ricky earlier than expected, you can bet, he's shown this commish something. What are the Dolphins gonna do with him? Green Bay needs a running back, so does Miami. There are a few teams out there that are depleated at the running back postition. As long as you still have talent, the NFL has a spot for ya!!!!! Whether Ricky can still dominate games is yet to be seen. I was or thought I was priviledged to have seen him run in HS in San Diego, then as I moved home, Ricky showed up at UT. I'm one of the guys who has wished I had enough of gods given talent to play for minimum in the NFL. Part of me says let the guys who have played by the rules thus far have his spot and salary. Part of me wants Ricky to come back and show he can be productive and stay clean. Heres my deal, they trade Ricky to Dallas for Julius Jones, then WE trade him back to Canada for a few Cases of Labatts Blue. I guess he's had his chances in my book. Matt.
  8. Sorry to hear that George. Matt
  9. Glenn, Those were some nice fish. A very nice way to end a trip. I'm glad Fork delivered for some. Heres to 2008 and many new PB for forum members. Keep the film rolling and cameras near, you never know when it may happen.
  10. Tommy, OU was upset in the Big XII title game by KSU. But the BCS still rewarded the Sooners the Title game against your beloved Tigers. And it was a embarrassing day for the Sooners and Big XII. Thus the convincing win by the Trojans and the AP National Title. Good thought process on the multiple scenerios. You don't see maybe OSU beats OU, Mizzou beats Kansas, and maybe WVU moving up? Matt.
  11. Won't be long, and the Big girls will start to appear. I have compiled those same numbers many a times.
  12. I have never hunted them either. I just always thought they wouldn't be very good to eat. Good point about migration. I have never seen a coot fly 5 feet off the water, that I can remember, Water walkers, or runners. Commorants are the bigger issues. We have had TEXAS legislation passed on controlling them. At this time, i can't give exacts off the top of my head. Matt
  13. A team being ranked in the first half of the season that gets beat should have bearing on the end of the season. USC may have been #1 at one time, and that was on human specualtion, not earned at the time. Afterall, look at them now, which should be the final result. At the end of the year, the whole body of work needs to be looked at. LSU beat some good teams, but SEC rankings are like the stock market every week, some up, some down. Nebraska was ranked at once, should that be considered by KU. Then LSU beating a #9 Florida at one time don't matter, it should be the final body of work. Florida isn't #9, Strength of schedule is assigned by someone at the first of the season based on past performance (?), I"m assuming. A team that has stellar brake out season should have SOS adjusted accordingly, and that would be human accessment again. Some one has to input the stats. As long as humans are involved, we won't every get it right 100% of the time. How are SOS assigned. Lets say UT was ranked #1 based on Vince Young, and he gets hurt game #1, then the teams that faced UT, their SOS should be adjusted accordingly. UT is no longer the force without Vince. So how does SOS work?
  14. I'm gonna say it isn't so!!!!! I have been in electronics for years, and know that your standard little 9 volt would take 48 AA, and where would you fit 48 of those into the little battery. Besides, chemistry has taught us differently. I'm gonna call BS and ask who has attempted this? Just because theres a video, dont make it so. So here is a 9volt hack job http://www.metacafe.com/watch/360955/9_volt_battery_hack_youll_be_suprised
  15. The loop, or flemish knot allows you to get max action when walking the dog,. Knots that cinch up on the eye don't allow the bait to move side to side freely. Matt

For those of you who are new or maybe haven't caught KU's opening day speech, its normally the same, we are probably ranked to high, we need some experience............ Indeed, it is good to be a JayHawk. Congrats, KU has waited many years, the fans deserve it as well. I hope they win out and get a shot. Matt

You guys don't think KU got lost at the football game? B ball is in the house and no RockChalk JayHawk chants. He's got pigskin fever I do believe, Every time my Horns get a superstar, they leave early to get paid in the NBA. I know Rick Barnes has made the UT program what it is over the past years.
  18. Glenn, ESPY material!!!!!!!
  19. Welcome to the forum. Do you fly out of Abilene? Have you fished Sweetwater? Don't get alot of press, but does have some nice bass in that lake. I lived out on Lake Fort Phantom Road while going to college there, never got used to the milky red water from the clay banks. Keepers are hard to come by, but they are there. Seen to many tournament stringers to know they exist. Local club nite tourneys. OH IVIE, and don't forget about Possum Kingdom up the road. Not much experience there, but some beautiful bluffs and scenery. Again, welcome to the forum. Matt
  20. I'm curious, in the south, we have mud hens or coots as we call them. A coot will show you the greeniest grass on the lake in the winter. Where you find good winter grass in the shallows, you should find prime areas for the jig. Knowing this eliminates having to use the graph to find good grass. I try to stay away from the hydrilla that has turned brownish for the winter. The question/ Is the Coot present on the northern and central states waters as well? If not, what types of birds do you have that might feed on grass or vegitation in the winter? Matt
  21. Normally, the gulls I have encounter will hover above the water and dart down and pick off wounded bait fish that have been driven to the surface. Easy to see, they will have shad or some sort of bait fish visible in their mouth. If I may add, when winter has arrived in your region, the best grass on the lake will have the coots feeding on it. Great way to locate the "greener" grass. Some mey call them coots, others mud hens. Matt
  22. Keep them coming, I will read all the links when time permits. Learning some good stuff. thanks to all Matt
  23. JC, Never been into metal speculation. Not even sure that is a correct term. So coins, bars, and such would be learning experience, thats why I'm seeking some knowledge. I noticed on a graph by accident how gold has risen way up. I was wondering if someone invested 10 grand, in some form, in 2009, would that be sound investment. I know econmy, wars, and politics all have effect. matt
  24. I was wondering if investing in Gold would be good ideal. I have noticed that Gold is higher than when I last saw it. If a man was willing to invest 10 grand in gold, would that be sound investment? How do you make sure you aren't being sold something worthless? Scammed? Matt
