Johnson Silver Minnow
Been using this forever. Favorite setup for vegetation is to add a trailer hook. On that trailer I thread a six inch Jelly Worm--or some portion of one. I rig the worm weedless. Can also use a weedless hook. Paint the Silver Minnow black and use a black worm. Killer. First read about this in BASSmaster back in the early seventies. Still works.

Do round BC not have brakes?
I use a 300 for c-rigging. Really like it for this. Striper fisherman convinced me to buy my first one. They will hold up. Cali and tacoman are dead-on with their advice. I did the thumb-bar thing, too.

Help with value of reel.
Well, they were about $150 new, so whatever you think you can get up to that. There are some guys that are so hard-core old Curado that they may give you near new price. I really like the SF, and am hoping my new Citicas actually are replacments for the old Curado. Reps say they are. Good luck

what holds your tackle?..
When I am in my boat, I have a couple of the Cook's systems just like craigaria. I also use the Easy View, some prefer this one for the soft plastics bags (leaving everything in it's original pkg). Looks like those clip racks that hold potato chips. When I'm out of my boat, then I use 3700's, freezer bags, etc, all in a deck bag. That takes care of all I want to transport back and forth. Only thing else I carry for tackle is one of those clear green Plano double boxes for my swim jigs and their trailers.

Interesting stuff about prey/ predator response
1. I would like to hear what Mr. Hannon has to say on the subject. I have heard theories also. 2. In the article, one thing that caught my eye was the referencing to smaller and larger bass in terms of < or > than 50 mm. Aren't there like 25.4 mm/inch? So we're talking bass around two inches??!! I wouldn't consider that adult behaviors. Excuse if I've misread, always a chance of that.

Does anyone miss Mad Man lures as much as me?
Have a buddy that c-rigged their craw a lot. I used it on a jig myself. I remember a Mister Twister ad back in the day stating "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". There are a few reincarnated Mad Man craws out there.

Terminator Hybrid Blade
Reminds me of the BPS Tornado, with some cosmetic differences. Should be easier to lift.

Mann's cranks other than 1-
Still have some old Razorbacks from years ago. Break one out occassionally. Have used the 15+ some. Really like the Baby 1- over flats, shallow wood, tops, weeds, etc. When the 4- and 8- came out I snatched them up ASAP. The oval rings stuck on a couple and the paint split out on all of them. Haven't bought anymore, won't. Have a couple of Baby 1- left and wonder what I will get quality-wise should I buy more.

What line on my flippin stick?
20# Big Game green
-
trilene maxx
Gonna try this one myself, probably in 6 and /or 8 lb tests. Noticed the diameter of the line runs a little thicker than XL or some of the Big Game lines. I had written PureFishing asking what product, if any, replaced the old Tri-Max photochromatic line. That was my all time favorite before production stopped. They responded with MaXX. I'll probably stay with Big Game above 10 lb.

cheap rod
If your local shop buys through American Rod and Gun, then they can get the BPS XPS series of rods. They are IM-8, and sell for $29.99. I don't have any of their baitcastering rods myself, know a few guys who do. They have the 'hump' that is typical of BPS rods. I do have a couple of spinning rods and don't have any issues with those. For a very economically priced rod, they aren't bad.

Suffix braid vs Power Pro
I have used a few different braids (3-4), only use it for one application. Tried PowerPro a few years ago and have had no reason to want to change from it. Cannot comment about the attributes of Sufix as I have not used it, and honestly, I probably won't unless something goes wrong with the P/P

Floaters and suspenders, both terrific baits. Early, early pre-spawn first with suspending Rogues, later with floaters. Somedays you are only gonna get bit a few times, but they could be quality. Black/chrome, blue/chrome, clown, Table Rock shad.

Still a member, but it hasn't the attraction it used to have.

Do you pitch/flip right or left handed?
I have rigs set up both ways and use each. I am pretty comfortable either way on most things---somewhat ambidextrous. Normally, I like to pitch left-handed (right-handed reel) and flip with the right hand (w/left-handed reel). Sometimes it just depends on which shoulder is hurting that day.

Did anyone else get this in the mail?
I recently received this book as well. I also got a statement along with my receipt of subscription renewal. The statement saying I owed them for the book. I e-mailed BASS. Their first response was that on the renewal form there is a block to check if you DO NOT want to receive such items. That never feels good to me to start with. I think someone mentioned SCAM already. My renewal was actually a gift from my wife, she didn't notice this. Anyway, I responded again to BASS stating that I had returned a book and/or some coins a few years ago and at that time I was to be removed from their list. I also suggested that I could return this book--as yet unopened--at their expense. I was advised (all comminiques were polite, by the way) that I could keep the book and would be taken off their list. This is the second time to be removed from the list. Should they send me any thing else in the future, I will feel in no way obligated to interface with them.

what is a certified scale
Had heard some of the praises for the Salter before. Thought they were even pricier. Looks like they are in the X-Tool (scale only) range. I have used Rapala/Normark and Berkley in the past. After comparing them over and over to known weights, I was never absolutely positive when they were dead on, or off by X %. I just use a tape and measure the length. However, I would be willing to look at these if indeed they are as reliable as touted. Thanks

Shaky head rig of choice?
I'm in the camp that the trailer is what makes the difference in the 'stand-up'. I often use the Tru-Turn Hitchhikers on a ball-head jig when I'm using a Trick worm, Jelly worm or a Davis Shaky worm (they float). I believe it really extends the life of the worm. If I am using 3X, I still use the ball-heads--generally Davis or Luck E Strike--but w/o the Hitchhiker. They are a pain with 3X.

1# reel choice
Spiining: Shimano Sahara Casting: Shimano Curado. However, I just got a new Citica 200D. Hopefully this reel will be everything the old Curados were/are

Have you got your 07' fishing license yet ?
My resident Missouri comes due the end of Feb. They are $11.00. I also get Illinois non-res ($24.50) and Kentucky non-res ($35.00, but heard they were going to $50). Believe the Ky expires the end of Feb also, with the Illinois the end of March. Get the non-res on the internet, that way I don't have to drive around looking for a place that isn't sold out of them, or hasn't received their allotment. That has happened a couple of times.

Spinning Reel Size??
Marty....I thought I was the only one that favors the larger reels. I mostly use Sahara's and the great majority of them are 4000's. One is set up for my wife to C-rig with on a GLoomis 7' heavy fast. I agree that line behavior is better with the larger spool and that is the main reason I favor this size. Perhaps this in part goes back to the old days when lines weren't nearly as good as today. As you said, if the weight isn't a problem then other things shouldn't be either.

rain gear
I went with the BPS HPR series bibs and jacket. Gore-Tex, uninsulated. Not too hot in the warmer months, layer in the colder months. Have a friend who uses the high-end BPS sets (100 MPH). I've never been wet or uncomfortable in these. Not a dissenting voice against the GuideWear--good stuff for sure---just another option to think about.

Culprit Tassel Tail Worms
I actually think the color I had the best results on is called 'Blue Shadow'. I'll have to go to the boat and dig them out. Looking at their catalog, I don't see this offered in the worm, just in the lizard. I still have a few bags left of the worm. I got them as samples. Starting to look like I won't get anymore, tho. I've also used the 'Blueberry'.
