  1. To me it has to be putting my hands on the fish. The satisfaction of a job well done and knowing that you did everything right to get the fish out of the water is a really rewarding feeling. So for me it has to be landing the fish.
  2. Anything that imitates a crayfish seems to work well for me.
  3. I'm surprised to see that some people have not done well with the Wave fishing plastics. I have done really well with several types of the Wave products. I don't know, maybe I was just using the tubes at times that anything could've caught fish, but reguardless I have confidence in them and will keep using them until I stop catching fish on them. Another thing I like about them is that they hold up really well unlike many other brands.
  4. I'm a big fan of the wave fishing tubes. I like the size of these tubes and you can very often find them on sale for $0.99 a pack. These are one of the few tubes that I have used much of and that I have confidence in. Colors that I like include Blue Fleck, Black Blue Swirl, Christmas Tree, and Watermellon Black Flake. http://www.wavefishing.com/4-Tiki-Tube_c_36.html
  5. When the wind starts blowing a spinnerbait is tough to beat in my opinion. Throw them right up into the cover and don't be afraid to lose one every once in a while. Good luck keeping the boat in the water.
  6. X2... but I've never hooked into one anywhere that big with one.
  7. T-rigged with an weighted hook? If so, what's the weight on the hook? I'll be using this in/ near the back of coves with a bunch of grass and weeds. The water depth is probably 5 - 10 feet max. One of the reasons I like weightless is that a weighted hook gathers up all the trash on the bottom. I use a 1/4 bullet weight unpegged.
  8. I have caught a ton of fish on these texas rigged. This was one of my top three producing methods last season, and I have already caught a few on them this year. When I found them in the clearance bin at Wal-Mart a while back I Picked up almost every pack of them that they had. Give them a try and if you decide you don't like them, I'll take them off of your hands.
  9. It was a slow day. My partner and I each only caught one fish... one fish Anna strikes again. But i can't complain because the only one I caught weighed 6lbs 7oz according to the scale we had on the boat. Caught it on a red RAT-L-TRAP in about four feet of water. Great fish on an overall crappy day of fishing.
  10. My buddy and I are going to make our first trip to Lake Anna of the year tomorrow. Im hoping that this evenings rain won't shut them down or effect the water too much. But thats not the most exciting part, I am going to attempt to back the boat into the water for the first time in my life. I just hope I don't screw something up.
  11. To me, confidence while fishing is a little different than how anyone here has described it. I know that I'm not going to catch a fish on each and every cast. I don't feel that I need to have confidence that before each cast that I am going to get bit. However, I do feel that I have to be confident that I am fishing in the right area, at the right time, with the right lure, and with the correct technique. I believe that I need to be confident that I am going to cast my lure into the area that I am trying to cast to, and once my lure is in that spot that I will fish it in the most effective way. So in other words, I believe that as a fisherman it is important to feel confident in everything that you have control over and just let everything else take care of itself.
  12. Did he know it was yours? Yes he did.... Seems pretty messed up I know but he has been my best friend since the third grade and always will be. I don't think he really was going to make me give him one in exchange, but at the time I didn't care about any other lure besides the one I had lost. Now that i go back and think about it, he was kind of surprised when I gave him one in returned.
  13. Nice! A few years ago I lost a topwater lure at a local pond. This particular lure just happened to be the first artificial lure I had ever purchased and the lure that I have caught more fish off of than any other lure. Needless to sat I has really unhappy when i lost it. A couple of month later my buddy found it floating up against the bank and put it in his tackle box. When I saw it in there I nearly peed my pants with excitement. But I had to trade another one of my favorite lures to him to get it back. I still to this day have that lure in my tackle box and probably never will use it again.
  14. This is absolutely ridiculous. The biggest money making sport in the country and the two sides can't agree on anything. Just from what I have heard on ESPN, it sounds like the Players union didn't have any intention of making a new deal. I still am not that worried about it because I am almost willing to bet that their will still be football come September. The people I am worried about are the free agents though because they can't sign a new contract until this mess gets worked out. For their sakes I hope something gets done soon.
  15. Top: Molten Green Pumpkin Bottom: Sunny Side Down or Solar Flare Two very good looking jigs.
  16. I had a buddy ask a guy at the BPS in Richmond if they were going to carry the Havoc line. The guy told him that they would but it would be a few more weeks before they were on the shelves.
  17. Dick's had the Havoc line products on sale for 20% off. So I picked up a pack of the spears and a pack of the craw fattys. For $2.93 they cant be but so bad. I like the looks of both styles and think that they can both be productive on a regular basis.
  18. I scratch the running depth into the bottom of the bill with my knife after taking it out of the package.
  19. 1. T-Rigged Rage Tail Craw/Yum forked tail dinger(Watermelon RF/Green Pumpkin) 2. Rat-L-Trap (Any color) 3. Rebel Pop-R (Any color)
  20. HAHAHAHAH. I was thinking it but never would've said it. But these really are things everyone needs to think about when on the lake.
  21. I have a Reebok flex fit that I have worn for the past 4 years. It has faded to the point that it is close to being white on top. It is the most comfortable hat that I have ever had. If I ever lose it, I WILL cry. :'( Lets just hope that day never comes.
  22. VA state freshwater-$18 VA trout stamp-$18 National Forest Permit-$4 Making life time memories- Priceless.
  23. The Magnificent Seven or Unforgiven. Both are great.
  24. Our Wal-Mart carries a good bit of stuff that I use. The main things I have purchased from there are Rage Tail Craws, Berkley 7'' power worms, Booyah spinnerbaits, and I buy a TON of Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp EWG hooks. It seem that the last few years our Wal-mart has added a little more each year. I think the main reason is because they don't have any real competition around them.
  25. they have updated their hooks and they're actually really good now. i think they're called Set-Lok. Yes they have upgraded their hooks. Rat-L-Traps are my original go to lure, and I have a ton of them that are missing a lot of paint. If you don't have a at least a trap or two in your tackle box, you should.
