  1. I fish there several times a year because it is relatively close to my home town. The lake has gotten better in the past couple of years, but still isn't as good as many other lakes in the area. And yes there are some monster muskie in the lake. I have seen them circle people in kayaks on top of the water. Maybe the craziest thing I have ever seen when fishing. The bass are largemouth but I agree that many of them have strange patterns, or lack there of, on there body. I have also seen one that had orange on its sides, but I'm sure that had something wrong with it.
  2. WOW. You have to be kidding me. I couldn't believe it when that picture was transferred over to the kid. Unbelievable
  3. Beaver Creek has a large population of bass and is great place to go if you want to catch higher numbers of bass. But there aren't very many large bass in the reservoir. I have seen a few 4 or 5 pound fish come out of the water, but most of the fish that I have caught out of there are 12-14 inches long. If you can get an opportunity to go the Rivanna Res, I would suggest that you go there. It is one of my favorite places around to fish. As a matter of fact I am considering heading out there in the morning myself. Good luck.
  4. I found this lake on google earth. I looked it up on google and found out that it is a 425 acre reservoir owned by the boy scouts. Does anyone know if it is open to the public, or if it is possible for me to get permission to fish?
  5. I went to a Jason Aldean concert last fall and it was the best concert I have ever been to. Laughed until we cried is a great song, and always makes me stop and think about life when I hear it. Another song that I love of his which I have never heard on the radio is Asphalt Cowboy.
  6. I will always use a trailer hook. I lost a huge fish a couple of weekends ago, and I am sure that I would have caught it if I had a trailer hook on my spinnerbait.
  7. I hate the wind. It keeps me off the water more often than any other weather. I only fish out of a 12' jon boat with a trolling motor. The wind not only sends me all over the lake, it kills my battery pretty quick. I hate the wind.
  8. I am one of the most superstitious people in the world when it comes to sports. I don't have many for fishing but thats because I haven't heard of many. Therefore, I will not check this post ever again so I won't learn any new ones.
  9. I voted Rage Tail, but only because Wave Fishing wasn't a choice.
  10. I am yet to find a wave fishing product that I don't like. I like the gorillas in watermelon red flake fishing around the edges of thick grass and timber. I also like the Christmas tree and sweet potato pie colors.
  11. My three favorite things in life are baseball, fishing, and hunting. I have bow hunted for deer for five years now, and is my favorite way to hunt. I also have fallen in love with bird hunting with our Brittney Spaniel. She is an amazing dog, and I have never had a bad day when bird hunting.
  12. I have been cut off by people in boats while fishing on the bank, but they don't make me as mad as idiots on jet skis when I'm on a boat. Some of them idiots act like they own the lake and that you aren't even there.
  13. I have been to the Rivanna Res. several times this year and enjoyed it every time I have been. Bluegill patterned crankbaits, chartreuse colored spinnerbaits, and watermelon red flake Rage Tail craws have been my best lures. Fishing in or somewhere near downed trees is where I have found most of the fish that I have caught. Another lake that I like to fish in that area is Lake Albemarle. The only problem is that you need a boat to fish most of the place. Good luck and I hope this helps.
  14. Yes. Going to start throwing more cranks and spinnerbaits in the near future though.
  15. Went to the lake this evening. Caught a small blue gill on a spinnerbait that was bigger than the fish. I hooked what was probably the biggest bass of my life on a long cast that popped off about twenty feet from the boat. There were a bunch of people on the lake and just never found pattern that was producing well. Tough day, but I will likely go back sometime this summer.
  16. I just moved into first place!!!!!! ;D
  17. If you really want to just let me know when and I will show up. Im availible most afternoons during the week, and most mornings on the weekends.
  18. It is in Gypsy Hill park in Staunton. Oh that's the one next to the ball park isn't it Yes
  19. When we have our outdoors show every year in Augusta Co, it is called the Western Virginia Sports and Big Game Show. It is held 10 mins east of my home town.
  20. It is in Gypsy Hill park in Staunton.
  21. I challenge anyone to come to my home town of Staunton, Va and catch a limit of bass out of Tams Lake. I have fished this place for years, an have never caught more than three bass in one day.I Usually don't stay long, but that is because I am not getting any bites. I'm sure that it can be done, but is something that I have never been able to do. P.S. I haven't figured out why it is called Tams "lake." Very small.
  22. I use spinning reels because I can control them better.
  23. Does anyone else checkup on their lineup anymore?
  24. Almost unfair to fish with. Also have to mention stickbaits.
  25. I just had a graduation picnic for friends and family and got some really nice fishing stuff as gifts. I got a new baitcaster rod and reel, a ton of soft plastic baits, a spinnerbait, worm hooks of all sizes, and a few small swimbaits. This makes me wish that I could just graduate again next year, and every year after that for the rest of my life. It was a great day.
