  1. We have 16 inches and counting. It isn't supposed to stop snowing until 4am tommorrow. I'm a lineman so I get to work on superbowl Sunday! I'm so freakin' happy! Why would I want to sit around all day nd eat, nap, and watch football when I could be out working in the Heavy , wet snow! I'm having so much fun! I'm now waiting on a snowplow to plow ahead of me so I can go make repairs on a pole.
  2. If the timer is rated for outdoor use, and has a cover over the face, then it's probably ok. The same goes for the cord, if it is an outdoor cord its good. Try to find a dry location to put the timer.
  3. find the spots out of the wind and focus on finding them there. In the last tournament i fished in we had similar conditions without the strong winds. I found some big girls hiding under the thickest slop mats I could find in <5 ft of water. Everywhere else was mostly unproductive for me.
  4. This thread hasn't broken any rules yet. As long as it remains a civil, respectful dialogue we should be ok.
  5. ATTENTION PARENTS! Go spend some quality time with your children! Teach them how to be good adults by setting a good example with your own lifestyle choices. Your words mean nothing. Your actions are what your children will follow. Spend half the money and twice the time with them. After all, you will need someone to care for you someday when YOU CAN'T DO IT YOURSELF!
  6. So, "Raider of Loxley", all this banter and still no pics... I think I'm going with the sizing up that .Ghoti laid on ya. 85 years is a lot of time to develop a colorful imagination. So I have hired a private detective and after some brilliant detective work, here's some pics he has taken of "Raider" for me... You are so busted! She's the one sitting on the Harley.
  7. I love that Ferrari. If I had the money, it would definitely be in my garage. But the reality is it's four times the price that I could SOMEDAY afford. THIS however, is someday a strong possibility... Oh, and it WILL be a Lingenfelter aftermarket tune. Somewhere there is a pic of one smoking it's tires...AT 125MPH!!!!! You won't have to worry about sitting on your testicles then. They will be firmly planted right next to your adams apple!
  8. The jawbone has detached from overuse.
  9. Minn kota has excellent customer service. I would certainly think they would be all over these issues. Good luck with motorguide. Keep us posted.
  10. Second place was a little over ten pounds. If we could have just weighed five fish we would have been in the money. I thought they were BSing me about their day, but other guys saw them cranking like crazy and catching fish which confirmed it for me. Head scratcher for sure.
  11. The fish throw you another curveball! Here's what happened to me today... Post cold front. Clear blue skies. No wind, I mean NONE! Clear water (5-7ft visibility). Full moon the night before today's tournament. Most think that you would need to fish slow, I know that was our thought. We did ok in spite of just about the toughest bite possible. Drop shot, slow dragging a jig in 18-20ft of water, and in midday, flipping docks with slop and heavy mats around them produced best for us. One 4.5 pounder (big bass award) and a bunch of dinks. We weren't even in the ballpark. The winning team culled ten fish and weighed over 15 pounds of bass...burning swimbaits over suspended bass in 40 feet of water! How the heck do you know to try THAT method. I definitely learned something today.
  12. Chris Lane is one of the nicest guys on tour. I find it highly unlikely that someone had an axe to grind with him.
  13. Mick Dodge (the legend) just sticks his head underwater and sucks in a big drink. He says it builds your immune system.
  14. Another vote for "biggest you can afford". I have an 18' bass boat and I have a Minn Kota 101 Terrova on it. It was a great decision to go that big. I fish some rivers that have current and I never run out of thrust. Other guys I know with bigger boats and smaller thrusts struggle in that current. As far as batteries go, the same applies. Get the biggest you have room for and can afford. My group 31's have NEVER let me down. They take up a bunch of space, but it is worth it. Another consideration (not sure what your budget is) is an on-board charger. With that many batteries it is REALLY nice to pull in the garage, open the battery compartment and just plug in my boat. One plug takes care of all the batteries.
  15. I have the transom mount 360 imaging with an 1198cSI. I fish all kinds of water with it from stump fields to open water and almost everything in between. I have only left it down once by mistake and dragged it through a lilly pad field plowing lilly pads for about 100 feet. It retracted most of the way until I removed all the debris and then it came the rest of the way up. No damage whatsoever. I think there should be an auto-retract feature so that dragging it through bottom and obstructions isn't possible. Overall, I like it. There have been a few issues that I have ironed out over time. Most were issues with the original software. It works pretty good now. I can see all around my boat in deep or shallow water. It is really good at finding hidden laydowns and cover in shallow water (3-4ft). It is also good for "spotlocking" (minn kota terrova) on a good piece of cover or underwater structure and being able to make accurate casts to that cover because I can always see where it is in relation to the boat. There are many other good uses for it, too many to get into here. Youtube search "Doug Vahrenberg" and watch his videos on the 360.
  16. Sheewwwwtt... I can do all that with one burrito.
  17. Did you see his wife at the neighbor's dock?
  18. Do the right thing EVERY TIME. Kids have an uncanny way of picking that out when they're older and know better. Then you're the hero. Soldier on!
  19. This trucker missed his calling! He is better at being a cop than the cop!
  20. I agree. In that context is was definitely too late. In the context of a father WANTING to make amends, and the son is faced with a decision to allow it, it is never too late. We should all be open for forgiveness. The less someone deserves forgiveness the more noble (and more difficult) it is when forgiveness is given. Most of that can be avoided if more people take the advice provided by Lund Explorer!
  21. WOO HOO! Congrats Mike and Julie! Finally someone to help you tie jigs!
  22. It is NEVER too late for reconciliation. There have been many generations of men who, in their youth, found it more interesting to do their own thing and forget about raising kids. Only to get older and wiser and realize the damage they caused by their selfishness many years earlier. Many wish they could rewind and pour their lives into those children all over again, but obviously that isn't possible. The next best thing is to reconnect, and try to restore some of that relationship. Sadly, many are either too proud or too scared to apologize. And equally sadly, many children are too deeply scarred and hurt to be able to open up to that type of relationship again. So IMHO, to all the fathers and children who go through this... Fathers, swallow your pride and apologize. Children, be strong and realize that your father would probably give his right arm just to hug you and tell you he's sorry. It is NEVER too late for reconciliation.
  23. I think it was Spider-Man!
