  1. I don't have that exact model but I do have a Techna AV it is a great rod that retails for 220 normally. That model would be good for cranks and light worms. Good luck!
  2. Definitely not, The buzz bait is one of the best lure choices for fishing in the fall and it can also produce bigger fish then the spinner bait most of the time. Give it a try in the fall near some kind of shallow lay down..
  3. I just bought a new swimbait, it is a Castaic Platinum series, has anyone ever thrown these with sucses? If so how do you like them and what did't you like about them? By the way; it a fast sinking 8" Ghost Shad color.
  4. Welcome, I'm from Jacksonville, Oregon!
  5. If you go a little bit over the rating on the rod you should be OK, but if you put to much strain on the rod (especially when you put power behind a long cast) you have the possibility of snapping or damaging the rod. What I would recommend doing if you don't have a rod suited for the heavier baits then take the longest rod you have and instead of whipping the bait out when you cast try and just lobbing it. Usually with a heavier bait like that it is going to fly far enough out anyway with out a super powered cast.
  6. Berkley has a whole line of cheaper rods that still feel great and catch tons of bass. My dad just recently picked up a cheaper berkley spinning rod for 40 bucks the rod has a nice sensitive tip yet still has enogh back bone to set the hook. This rod works great for drop shot and also for shaky head. Give them a try for 40 bucks what do you have to lose?
  7. I have 1 of these reels and am considering getting another. This is one of the best reels on the market, it isn't to spendy and it still has the durability that Shimano is known for. For a bait this light I don't know how well it would work, Since the reel is high speed I throw light crankbaits, texas rigged worms and senkos with it. I really love this reel, worth the price.
  8. I would recomend a heavy football head jig (3/4 to 1 ounce) with a poor boy's pork chunk trailer. I a brown or craw color.
  9. I use Eagle Claws Lazer Sharp smaller sized wacky rigging hooks for when I am wacky rigging a 5 inch senko and I use owners weedless wacky rig hook for when I am throwing a smaller sized senko or finesse worm.
  10. Never used it my self but i have a friend who seems to like it. Personally i use a normal drop shot style weight for instance bosstin lead free fishing weights makes a really good drop shot weight.
  11. Here in Oregon we don't do much pitchin' but my favorite bait when I stumble upon a log or stick-up is probally a black and blue jig with a black and blue chigger craw trailer. I also like to pitch big coffee tubes in the backs of willow bushes.

  16. Welcome I you will like it here!
  17. I would recommend a spook jr. or some sort of walking type bait like the spook. Lucky Craft makes a bait called the gunfish I really haven't tried it for smallies but earlier this year I caught a five and a half pound largemouth on it.
  18. I would try using a small worm on a drop shot rig Or A double tailed hula grub on a small football head.
  19. I like the booya 3/8 and 1/2 ounce models. Ledford's tackle makes a really cool jointed spinnerbait that i have really gotten to like.
  20. I haven't used chaterbaits very much but I have caught a few fish on them personally I would rather use a spinnerbait or a jig. But hey I will give them another shot.
  21. Do you use scents on your baits, yes or no? If so what is your favorite company?
  22. I prefer rattles over no rattles, even though I fish in fairly clear water I usually fish jigs deep so I think that the rattles help the fish hone in on my bait. I seem to catch quite a few bass like this but now that i've read that this many people dont use rattles i will give it a shot.
  23. Norman Deep Little N- Goby color Roboworm- Aaron's Magic(drop shot or shaky head) Lucky Craft Gunfish- Any color Rattle Trap- Any color Double tailed hula grub- Any natural color(browns Greens)
  24. 1. Smaller suspending crankbaits; Ireel it down to its max depth then twitch it and let it suspend. This is good when the bass are suspended. 2. Light weight drop shot; i have caught tons of fish all year long dropshoting with a 12 inch leader and 1/8 ounce weight. I would recomend smaller roboworms or poor boy's erie darters(i like to cut them in half long ways it is a little more of a finesse presentation) Good Luck
  25. Poor boys yamamoto
