Sounds like the salt is calling you back. And I don't mean El Salto! The striper bug has bitten me but not enough to chase 'em up n' down the coast...yet. Thus far, 15# braid and 8# test leader tied with a the tried-and-true uni-to-uni have held up to all the varieties I've landed in the Chesapeake/York River area down here. One of those knots that "just works", is easiest to tie, so why change?

Not sure I will make it (family party preps notwithstanding), I have wife approval to fish, if time allows, given the lovely temps predicted for Saturday. So we'll see what happens. I'd love to swing up there if poss.

Bills bros always stay together... through thick and .... well, though 17 years of playoff drought. Here's to the end!

light setup rod/reel
Hi Richard, welcome to the forums. For bass fishing, you really do not need to go over a 20 or 25 (aka 2000, 2500) size reel. There's nary a bass alive that'll require more reel than that. I use 1000 size for all my bass fishing, and even use that size for inshore saltwater fishing. A medium rod is a great power to pair with a spinning reel.
