  1. Good setup, nice fish I use 5'9" and 6' rods for Ned, both M/F and MLF with 1000 size Stradics.
  2. I can safely say my CI4+ 1000 is my favorite among all my Stradic models (FI, FJ, FK). So IMHO, yes, it's a worth the extra cabbage.
  3. Welcome aboard!
  4. People chum for catfish, too. No big deal, IMO. Some use scent to attract...which is part of the chumming experience, creating a multi level attraction for the bass.
  5. Welcome aboard!
  6. Shane, if you've read any of my posts on spinning reels, you know I rock 1000 Stradics from FI to FJ to FK and CI4+. All of them are more than enough for freshwater bass, and have even proven quite adequate for striper fishing here in VA. So to your question of 2500 and 3000, take your pick. You'll be plenty happy with either, the only diff being, as mentioned, line capacity. They are still plenty small (for my tastes) but super solid (as based on my experience with the 1000). I know there are huge striper and reds (among other species) here in my area and I realize 1000 line capacity *could* be an issue, but so far I have not hooked in to any "large" species. My sons have landed rays on 2500s and been fine. The added line capacity is simply a peace of mind cushion for those just-in-case scenarios. Fresh-only, I have never had one ounce of worry with 1000 size, and have caught dozens of bass over 6 pounds in all kinds of muck, bridge pylons, docks, downed trees, etc. FWIW.

  9. Let's go BUFFALO!! Sweet win over Vikes. I'm a likin' Josh Allen!! Long way to go, though. Boy needs receivers fer cryin' out loud!
  10. Use whatever floats your boat, I say! I use both, but the vast majority is spinning. Why? It's more bullet-proof for me. And I set out to go all-baitcasting several years ago, and got to the place I took only baitcast setups with my in my yak. One day it occurred to me that spinning was just easier to deal with when skipping in tight confines (and in general), windy conditions, drop-shotting, etc. Mind you, I could do all of that with my casting, but inevitably wind would pick up and I couldn't skip w/o a backlash, taking one of my setups out of action... So I'm fine using spinning. I will use casting, too, on occasion. I also don't throw every technique in the book. Just like my tools, I have stuff for the things I like to do, and things I can do. So with fishing.
  11. Didn't realize those were Flo's remains. I saw that on NOAA's site last night, here's this AM's map.
  12. It is forbidden. Move along.

  18. Welcome aboard, Dennis!
  19. Stay safe. We dodged a bullet here in Hampton Roads. Winds, sporadic rain from the bands but nothing torrential (yet - radar showing some coming). Got family in SC that's in the swath.
  20. I don't get a lot of wind knots with 15# test SS8. I got more using 10# regular PP, but not an extreme amount, or even enough to cause me to switch brands.
  21. They're both great. I like SS8 a little better as it's "slickness" remains a little longer than regular PP in my experience. As for sensitivity, negligible difference. You'll be fine either way.
  22. Welcome aboard!
