  1. Keep one thing in mind. Towing is easy, stopping can be an issue if you do not have brakes on your trailer.
  2. The rod is my contact point with the fish. The reel is just the winch to bring the line in. That being said, it is more fun to buy a reel. That's just me.
  3. Build a small platform on your deck just for the mounting of your trolling motor.
  4. Never give up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hummmmmmm, now where did I hear that before?
  5. Head over to the Ephrata Township Park. They have two nice ponds there open to the public.
  6. In the boat I can use 6 and have a ball. I also do some pond (shore) fishing, minimum 8.
  7. Rod for me. If I do not feel that "Tick", the rest just sits there idling. But I have to say buying reels is much more fun for me.
  8. I see a lot of posts about how good the " President" spinners are, and they are at a good price. But what about the "Purist" spinner? It's a couple more bucks but it gets no love anywhere. In fact it gets hardly any mention around here. Is it a new reel added to the Pflueger line? Can anyone give a review on the "Purist"? To me it's like spend another $20.00 and get the "Purist" or just another $20.00 and hold out for the new "Supreme".
  9. I feel your pain. Hey, I go up to Cabelas a few times a year and I never knew that a lake was in the area. I most always have a rod in my suv just in case I bump into some new water. How would I find this park? Thanks
  10. Whatever you "can" spend on fishing gear and feel good about your hobby is the ticket. For me, I like to spend a little more for some nicer stuff. Does it catch me more fish????????????????????????????????????????. But, it makes my time on the water a bit more enjoyable. To add to that, my off time during the winter up here in Pa., I enjoy the hunt for my next bit of pleasure. My girlfriend tells me that I have an addiction to my hobby, and I tell her it only an addiction if I am trying to quite. To answer your question I believe a more expensive rod can be worth it. I tend to spend more on a rod than my reels. Basicly the rod is the first thing your line comes in contact with when the fish strikes. The reel is a means of bringing in that line.
  11. I am a mono guy. I have tried braid and always end up burying it in the crease of one of my fingers and "boom" nice cut. I got a bunch of good braid suggestions in case I want to try it again. Any suggestions on a good "limpy" mono for a 1000 spinner?
  12. I have read a lot about line management and it seems like when you get down to the 1000 size, a lot of guys use them with braid. As a rule these reels will take 2/4/6 # line (mono). I am basically a mono guy but I do not want any line management problems if I drop down to the 1000 size reel. Loops, line twist or whatever. I have 2500’s right now with no line management problems at all.
  13. I am about to pull the trigger on the Supreme 8230mgx but after doing some research on this site it seems that the President gets allot more talk. I know that there is a price difference but other than that? Advantages or disadvantages? This reel would be used for LM & SM fishing.
  14. Depending on where it was bought, they might trade your "new" reel in for a lesser size "new" reel. All you can do is ask. I would prefer the 2500 size.
  15. CI4+ all the way. It's the weight thing for me.
  16. No, no, no. No fishy, inside trading going on here. I got it fair and square. Drum roll please," Now where's my chicken dinner"?
  17. CI4+2500, just as soon as they go on sale. Looking forward to "Black Friday" deals.
  18. 6'3" is my preference. I am a spinning guy. I feel so alone.
  19. Are you looking for a particular reel box?
  20. It's one thing to get a project boat but I think this one has died. Good grief, it looks like the trailer has sunk into the yard. It's been setting for some time. Do you think the motor will even turn over? You could spend a lot of good $$$ just on the motor or a replacement. Good luck on your decision, keep us posted. Just say'in.
