New technology reels vs older
I have both old and new Shimano reels.Shimano is all i use but that’s just me. I have 2015 aldebaran’s and Metanium 20’s on expride rods but find myself fishing with the good ol tried and true 6 pin centrifugal braking system on OG Powell max rods that I’ve fished for years. 7 ch50 mg’s and 6 curado/citica 100 D’s. I just like the footprint of those reels and just set spool tension where there is no side play, set brake pins and forget em. Also if I do have to adjust brakes, don’t have to worry about side plate falling off cause they’re hinged unlike Mets and Alde’s. Who else finds their self fishing with older tech reels more than your newer tech reels?

Jerkbait/Topwater Rod
I use an old Powell max 682c with a CH 50mg for jerk baits and small topwater poppers

What is a Curado 70 HG LN worth?
They’re good little reels, I’ve been fishing with mine about 4 years now with no problems

What was or is your favorite baitcating reel?
I Take my (7) ch50 mg’s with me every time I hit the water. I just like the VBS set em and forget em system and the way they palm vs the newer brake Technology. I guess it’s whatever you get used to. I just like em!

Curado DC not sure how I feel about it
Yes sir, way overfilled and when spooling, you need a lot of tension on the line or when you pull drag it will dig in because the line is loose.

Curado 70 handle
- Heat shrink tubing on rod handles
All my rods that don’t have cork on em have the heat shrink tubing cause I don’t like Eva foam.- Shimano
Yes the purpose of it is to keep the spool from falling out when adjusting centrifugal brakes. It’s actually in the handle side plate and the spool shaft has a groove in which it sits.- Braid recommendation
Original power pro is all I’ve ever used and never had a reason to change.- What's your lightest...
Aldebaran 50/ 6’ 10” med expride 8.2 oz- Reel grip cleaning.
Electrical tape is the absolute worse to put on reel grips, especially if it’s on Shimano septon grips. Isopropyl alcohol might work but I doubt it- Jig rods
Yeah I do use it for frog primarily but when the frog bite is done, I put 20# fluorocarbon on it for big jigs and sensitivity is pretty good- Jig rods
Expride 7’ 3” XH is what I use for big jigs. It’s got plenty of backbone- 7’2 H vs 7’3 XH Expride
I’ve got the A series 7’ 3” XH EX and it weighs 4.8 oz I figure the B series is around the same- What do you do with the tag end after retying?
Tag ends fall in the bottom of the boat and I guess eventually blow out or live in the carpet- Tournament in the morning on Tenn Tom waterway
Ok thanks. I used Flickr file share- Best Baitcast Reel Of All Time
That’s where I ordered it from for him,Was it a fully assembled side plate? Just slap it in and go? I think that price is without all the guts- Tournament in the morning on Tenn Tom waterway
