  1. mcstick is alright but I prefer the EEratic shad and the Rick clunn one. I like the EEratic shad in cold water and Rick clunn's when the weather is warmer.
  2. Baitcast: Rod: 6'6" M Abu Garcia Vendetta ($30) Reel: Abu garcia Black Max ($50) Total: $80 Spinning: Rod: 6'6" ML Berkely Tactix ($35) Reel: Abu Garcia Cardinal ($40) Total: $75
  3. I just use the cheap pair at walmart and cut off the right thumb. I can get away with the pointer finger covered when using a spinning rod, but I might cut it off if its not too cold
  4. 18 Fow on a rockpile with a T-rigged 7 inch ribbontail.
  5. Not skipping work, but I skip sleeping instead. I work until about 1 am so I just stay up the extra 4 or 5 hours and go fishing in the morning.
  6. I've been catching the heck out of bass with a Berkley powerbait twitch-tail minnow! I also use finesse worms and such but this bait has been golden the last month or so.
  7. The reel is great, I learned on it. Beat the crap out of it too. I'd go ahead and get one.
  8. probably a senko. It just catches fish everywhere and I am confident with it.
  9. I'm not sure. I will try asking the fish when the ice is off the lakes! .......
  10. ^What he said! I probably wouldn't trout fish, but I live right by a good trout stream and it holds me by until bass season.
  11. Must be the midwest, snow is coming down heavy where I'm at, we've gotten over 10 inches since 6 A.M. Saturday is Wisconsin's opener and it looks like I will have to buy a new pair of boots to fish in! Also Some lakes are still frozen. The lakes a little further north of me still have 20+ inches of Ice! Thankfully for me the little warm spell we had opened all my local spots....It's a terrible year for fishing...
  12. My local scheels is now carrying megastrike products and I jumped on the crawfish attractant. I will be making my first cast of 2013 with a bait covered in megastrike come saturday.
  13. I got oh 12 bags of YUM plastics from walmart. they were only $1.50 each... dang bait monkey
  14. May 4th is coming real fast, Lakes are still frozen though! Anyone else concerned? More snow was predicted to fall sometime this week.
  15. haha I'm not much of a rap fan either, but the thought the lyrics were pretty good, must have taken a lot of work to produce it.
  16. The lyrics to this one are pretty funny! (bill dance wont leave me the ell alone)
  17. I just came across this one and it is really sweet. Any one know any others??
  18. The rick clunn reaction rods are $64.88 right now on tackle warehouse (orig 99.99) And it comes in a deep crank 6'8" version. I do not have the deep cranker, but I do have two different models and I am really impressed for 65 bucks. I like them a lot.
  19. Got a 6'6" thanks a ton for posting this, too good to pass up. I just upgraded my topwater rod!
  20. Try the Fenwick Eagle GT I think it is 59.99. I use a 6'6" MH for froggin, but most prefer a longer rod. I love to use that rod, It will handle jigs just fine too.
  21. I actually prefer shorter rods for frogging; it makes them a lot easier to work. It might just be because I'm short (5'8") but my 6'6" MH rod is my favorite rod to frog with. I rarely ever have problems where the rod is at fault for missing a fish. I fish frogs a lot (favorite way to fish) and the shorter rod is so much more comfortable and accurate. I usually fish the green mats on top, which aren't extremely thick .If I were to throw it in some nasty stuff I might use my flipping rod, but I'd usually rather punch a bait through the really bad stuff than throw a frog on top of it.
  22. In my neck of the woods you are going to need a 50-75lb sinker to punch through the thick ice!
  23. I get excited when i catch big fish I tend to over exaggerate but only when i catch a big one, I can judge a fish's size fairly well just get in the moment sometimes .For example my two PB's were exactly the same weight - The one I caught in 2011: OH MY GOD!! A SIX POUNDER!!! (20 seconds later) Not a six maybe but AT LEAST A 5!!!! weighed on a scale: 3lb 9oz LOL 2012: BABY!!!! THATS A 5!!! (20 seconds later) NOT 5 BUT A SOLID 4 POUNDER! WOO!! weighed on a scale: 3lbs 9oz LOLx2
