  1. I think the last one I was looking for was a 90mm zillion sv handle to replace the 80mm stock one on my SSSV. I never pulled the trigger months ago when it was in stock. I even signed up for email notifications to let me know when they got them back in. That was quite a few months ago and I haven't heard anything.
  2. I've looked on the TackleTrap fairly frequently and most stuff seems to always be out of stock. Maybe contact Daiwa directly?
  3. 95% of my jig bass come off green pumpkin, haha. I bet it has more to do with how often we use those specific colors rather than the color itself.
  4. My buddy came down to visit from NY this weekend so I took him out to Fountainhead Park here in Northern VA. The boat rentals are cheap and there are some nice bass lurking in the reservoir. The water was blown out chocolate milk with tons of floating trash but we still managed 8 bites. I boated 6 and my buddy missed 2. The two biggest went 4 and 4.6.
  5. Rats and hollow body frogs -> straight 40 to 50lb braid For senkos, creature baits, and jigs -> 12lb minimum fluoro or copolymer
  6. I got that Phenix in a trade with a BR member. It's pretty sweet. Pure glass goodness. I think my next rod might be a Phenix feather.
  7. Great info. I really appreciate it.
  8. Thanks for the info. Do they have boat rentals up there too?
  9. Is it worth paying for the key to Bull Run?? I'm getting bored puttering around Fountainhead.
  10. I threw frogs on my 7.3:1 Zillion TWS last year and loved it. I'm throwing them on my 8.5:1 Curado K this year and like it more. The speed really allows you to cover more water.

  12. Killer tournament man! So cool to weigh in fine specimens of each species. Awesome job!
  13. I went out of Fountainhead on Sunday. Only caught 1 decent bass and 3 other dinks. I'm fishing the BFL as a co-angler on the Potomac this saturday. The cold spring is cramping my style.
  14. I believe they rescheduled the one from the 7th to this Sunday. So back to back. I'm fishing the 1st day as a co but can't do the second. I know s guy who's looking to link with a co-angler for Sunday. If you're available and interested I can put you guys in contact. Gas money and launch fee typically. I can't remember if smallwood state park requires a launch fee. Most boaters won't ask for more than $20 or $30 for gas. You'd also have pay for an FLW membership which is $50. It's a great way to learn the river. I did it last year for that very reason and finished 3rd. I'll be there this saturday.
  15. Easy, it's the senko. It's really the only thing I every see anglers throwing (tournament or non-tournament).
  16. That's great! Hope you crush'em this weekend!
  17. Didn't it look like the scale Casey's boat official was using was actually weighing in 10ths of a pound? I saw it twice and it said 2.68 and 2.58 or something like that. The official called the weights 2lbs 7oz and 2lbs 5oz respectively. If that's the case, he got screwed outta some weight!!
  18. If I see a blow up, I just assume is something other than a bass...unless I'm on Oneida. hahaha
  19. I'm not necessarily talking about fishing slop. That's a whole different deal. I'll fish the frog all the way to the boat in that case. When I'm hitting targets, they're usually isolated. Sure there's a chance a bass could come from open water somewhere and hit the bait away from the target, but I'm thinking in terms of high percentage when I fish a frog this way. And again, I don't think @MassYak85 was saying he'd burn the bait in and cast again if a fish blew up on his bait, but rather have the ability to do so if a fish blows up somewhere else.
  20. I don't think this is quite what was meant. I think he meant, if he sees a fish blow up somewhere and his frog is already in the water somewhere else, he likes a fast retrieve reel to burn it in and cast where the blowup occurred. I prefer the fastest reel possible for frogs, yet I fish a frog extremely slow mostly. A lot of the time, I'm pretty target oriented with my frog. I'll hit an isolated grass clump, pad patch, shade pocket etc. The target is usually small so I only wanna work my frog in that small spot, crank it in as fast as possible if I feel nothing is there, and cast to the next target. The fast reel is more for efficiency in covering water, not necessarily for the actual act of fishing a frog.
  21. Very sad. There seems to be a lot of that happening this year and it's not even May! Be careful out there fisher friends!! On the lighter note, good to see the bass starting to chew out there. Right on time for the BFL this weekend. I'm hoping the fishing is better Saturday than it's been for me at Fountainhead.
  22. The dt series baits are great but dont hold up to bottom grinding. The bills wear out quick. Ive broken quite a few.
  23. Junebug is prettier.
  24. I bet Mr. Defoe is one happy camper.
