  1. I use a Champion XP DC 705CB full handle. It is a excellent crank bait rod. I suggest that you call or e-mail Dobyns rods they are very helpful. E-mail info@dobynsrods.com, phone 903 919 8028.
  2. I have been looking for line my self. The only place I have seen 1000 yard spools that had them on sale was Tackle Warehouse. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Seaguar_Tatsu_Fluorocarbon_Line/descpage-STFL.html
  3. My spinning reels are all left handed, as all my bait casters are. I cast with my right hand.
  4. Dobyns Champion XP on sale with a 25% discount at https://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/shopby/dobyns.html
  5. I use a Champion XP 610-4C . Gary Dobyns design this rod for skipping. I have also used it for Texas rigs, Jigs, Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits, Bladebaits etc. I found this to be a excellent rod & believe it to be a bit stronger than a 4 power.
  6. Looks like more government control to me.
  7. I think I saw ALF has there Dobyns rods at 20 to 25% off depending on which series you were looking at.
  8. I too have both rods & agree with what Columbia Craw Said. I feel that the Xtreme series is more sensitive than the XP series. I also like the more power of the 745 in heavy cover. I fish Santee Cooper So I due use the 745 more because of the heavy cover. I do have 4 of the XP 744 & 2 of the Xtreme 745. These are both excellent rods, you can't go wrong with either one. In your case using the rod in open to light cover I would probley go with the XP because I could spend the difference on some good line. I hope this helps some.
  9. Thanks MN Fisher. I should have known that for I use to watch that program.
  10. Catt what in the heck is a Gibbs slap????
  11. I still have a bunch of the Wee R & the Deep Wee R some are still new in the box. Last weekend while at the lake I got a chance to fish for a few hours & caught several on the Wee R in some stumps in 4 to 5 ft of water. I was checking out my Champion XP 764 CB.
  12. The sensitivity is outstanding. The rod is well balance! The Extreme Series rods feature Toray high modulus graphite blanks, Fuji guides, Kevlar wrapping, Fuji reel seats and hoods and AAA-grade Portugal cork grips. These rods are made for “feel” techniques. I have several of this rods & in the next week I'll be ordering a Champion Extreme HP DX 745C FH for Carolina Rigs. The quality of these rods is outstanding which will keep me adding to my collection. Dobyns Rods has one of the best warranties going, check it out. I have not fished a ARK rod so can't comment on them. I will mention that I also have several rods in each of the Sierra & Champion XP series. Which great rods at their price point. I do not work for Dobyns Rods. A few years ago I bought a couple for my grandson & myself & discovered what a great product they are & the rest is history.
  13. Mustad has underlined its determination to become a ‘multi-brand powerhouse’ with the acquisition of award-winning lure supplier LIVETARGET.
  14. I use a bead any time I use a weight
  15. Use the brand of your choice just make sure it has a white belly.
  16. I have a Cabela's padded soft case that hold 20 rods without reels.
  17. Don't leave home without a pink or bubblegum tied on 1 rig.
  18. Just because a bait is old does not useful. I still use baits I fished with back in the late 70's early 80's. Wee R & deep Wee R. Guess what they still catch Bass.
  19. Depending on how heavy the cover is your fishing in will make a difference on which power rod I would use. In pretty much open water you can get by with a 4 power. I use a 5 power & in heavy cover a 6 power. Remember you have 2 heavy duty hooks to get set.
  20. https://dobynsrods.com/product/sa-684c/ This is the rod I use for the same thing you want for. I am using the same reel you are going to put on the rod you purchase. (oops mine is a XG) I Have fished this combo at least a dozen times. The biggest Bass on this combo is 6 lb 2 oz. I fish on Santee Cooper & fish this rig in 10ft or less. This is a good combo for spinnerbaits & chatterbaits in light to moderate cover. It's a 4 power rod.
  21. https://www.316lurecompany.com/assets/images/fblack_green.jpg This frog will catch big fish. I caught my P/B 12lb 8 oz on a certified scale. Over the years I have caught a bunch between 5 & 10 lbs & several 10 + lbs Throw this in the thick cover in shallow water. The frog has a big profile.
  22. Lipless crankbaits, you can get good distance with them. That way you do not spook the school by coming up on them. It helps when you release them also Make sure to use a high speed reel & get that bait running.
  23. Since you are in Wisconsin & due to winter weather I would probley build to keep busy. If weather is not a issue I would keep my 1st one. I have a Shimano Manumlite Graphite Rod with a Shimano Bantam Magnumlite GT Plus Reel that has the fightin'drag system. I have 2 of these combo's & use them often. They are my 1st bait casting combo's. Being left handed I bought these when left handed bait casting reels 1st started coming out in the mid 70's.
  24. How about the good old Superfloater!
  25. When I get the chance to go I just check the weather for that day so I know what to expect. My concern is wind direction & speed & if any thunder storms are in the forecast. I enjoy my time on the water.
