  1. Very effective. I use them on the flats & in ell grass. I use the Bagley Balsa ones. T/W has 4 of the best colors on it's site now. The Chart/Black is money
  2. You might want to check out Dobyns Champion XP DC 610 4C It designed for skipping. I have one & it's one of my go to rods Check it out on T/W
  3. I understand but I will tell you what happened to a very good friend of mine. I was station with him for 3 years while in the Navy & in the same bass club since 1974. He was a excellent swimmer. He was having some Coordination problems. One afternoon Him & another club member were suppose to go fishing but he had to cancel due to a work problem. Jerry went by himself. When his granddaughter did not find him or his boat in the morning She call the the guy he was suppose to go with, who went looking at the landings we always fished out of & found his truck & trailer & called DNR & the Sheriff's office. Many of the club, DNR, & the Sheriff's Started the search. The club members knew what areas of the lake he fished 99 % of the time. The Sheriff's helicopter spotted his boat above the 95 bridge & started looking up there. The guys new better & stayed to the lower end of the lake knowing that the wind would have blown the boat that way that night. The Sheriff's People were looking up there to make sure. Jerry's older son & a club member went up to get the boat. When they got back to the landing one of the club saw that his life jacket & phone were laying on the drivers seat. so he look on his phone & saw where had caught of good fish & from the back round knew where he was. A few hours they found his body floating in the canal. Thank GOD the gators did not get him. I was not trying to be a smart a--. Just reminding people that S--- happens. With these light weight inflatable jackets I always wear it when the engine is running & the kill switch is hooked up to it. I fish pretty much during the week so most times I am alone so my life jacket is always on. Better to be safe then to have your family to be sorry. It does not cost you one red cent to wear it. One last thing I can also Swim.
  4. If you think your to uncoordinated To be fishing walking baits where you would be standing. My advice is to make sure you have your life jacket on.
  5. Marc I have made a mistake & am sorry about that. I have many MH/F rods of which most are custom built on Shikari blanks. The line weight is 12 to 20. I have just switched the Scorpions to Dobyns Champion XP DC 734 FH which has the recommended line weight of 10 to 20. The difference in the 2 rods is the rod weight. I will tell you that the change to the new set up has been a good one. Marc I have made a mistake & am sorry about that. I have many MH/F rods of which most are custom built on Shikari blanks. 6. My guess is you don't have your DC reel set up right. A DC reel is really useful on a windy day. You have to adjust the spool tension on each different bait weight bait change. then adjust your brakes for the conditions. I have a couple of Scorpion DC's (same as your Curado DC) that are on MH/F 7' 3" rods. There is no problem casting a 3/16 oz. weight or a 1/8 oz. weight & a sweet beaver. That set up will work with a frog in light cover. I would change my line to copolymer for better abrasion strength. I use Gamma 12# on the one set up & Gamma 17# for the frogs in light cover. I think the medium rod would not be a good for frogs for I don't think it will have the power to set those double hooks on a frog. I would also check the recommended line weight your rod calls for. My MH/F rods all recommend 12 to 20 line strength.
  7. I would have a female that is a spearfisher woman!!
  8. Be very careful doing the above.
  9. I want to make sure we are speaking of the same rods. The Sierra series would be SA 683 C & SA 684 C That is the rods I have.
  10. I have & use both of the rods you ask about. I agree with Heartland, without a doubt the 734C would be your best choice for all the baits you mentioned.
  11. I have been fishing for 70+ years with 50+ of those years fishing for Bass. Between the years 2000 & 2015 150 to 200 days a year. Then my arm & shoulder said stop. Then a several years ago I found out that when buying a fishing rod balance is the first thing to look for it makes a big difference over time.
  12. This is a rod you should consider. A Dobyns Fury. T/W has it in stock for $119. With Free shipping over $50. FR 735C. Frogs, Pitchin' & Flippin', Small Swimbaits.
  13. I use a Dobyns Rod Champion XP DC610 4C. This rod is designed for skipping. T/W has them in stock.
  14. When I leave the dock I must have 6 bottles of water in the cooler & Nitroglycerin in my pocket.
  15. I am with the copoly bunch. It has enough stretch & good abrasion strength. I use Gamma or Yo-Zuri either of these lines have good breaking strength. I do use KVD line conditioner with them.
  16. A trick question.
  17. My last order I paid $13 & some changed To get to my office in Goose Creek SC. For the 2 day shipping. So that was not to bad since my military discount most of it.
  18. Mine have been on time using ground & 2 day. (orders placed by 12:30 PT) Ground - 3 Day Delay GSO - No Delay Postal - No Delay International - No Delay UPS 2-Day* - No Delay UPS Overnight* - No Delay *Currently 2-Day & Overnight Shipping is Available, but $5 2-Day & $10 Overnight Pricing is Suspended.
  19. Just remember if you use Fluorocarbon line it tends to sink so your bait will run somewhat deeper.
  20. I have the xp 733 & use it for squarebills. the line I use is 12# copoly & use the sweep set when hooking the fish. This rod also works well with weightless senkos.
  21. I am not sure what you are talking about & don't address me as dude.
  22. I catch L/M & Striped Bass on them.
  23. What kind of line are you using?
  24. I have some DC reels just not either of the 2 that you questioned. To compare the 2 reels you mentioned above is like comparing apples & oranges. You will see what I mean after using it for awhile. You will really see a big difference on a windy day.
