  1. Good one Raul.
  2. You would have to be crazy to pay that much for a reel! Ouch, I guess I had better check myself in. I have a Shimano Antares DC & DC-7. For anyone thinking of getting one, go for it they are worth it.
  3. I ordered some reel handles from BPS that did not fit. Their catalog said they would & when I called I was told to send them back using the return shipping label that was on my invoice & to put the receipt for my shipping cost in the package & they would refund my money. Which they did in a timely manner. Maybe BPS is the way to go with your problem.
  4. Avid Glad you found your rod & if you are looking for a reel with a strong drag system I have read where the ABU Revo STX has a dandy.
  5. I fish 4 to 5 days a week & have tried Evolution In 10 & 12 lb strength. I have been fishing in the grass & lily pads for the last 3 months. That line can not be used in that type of cover, the abrasion resistance is terrible. After 5 or 6 cast nicks would start appearing on the line & I would have to cut off 5 or 6 feet & retie. I have re-spooled with Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft & Gamma Copolymer. Evolution is a smaller diameter & cast very good. In playing with it I could cast lighter baits further but the abrasion resistance is a major problem for me. The line went in the trash can & I will never buy another spool of it.

  7. I release my drag when I am finished fishing for the day I understand it helps prevent this problem. Jump in on this Reel Mech.
  8. I fish by myself 99% of the time. I too have a Ranger & release the bow strap when the boat is in the water. I also have to back the boat off the trailer & tie it up before moving the truck & trailer from the ramp. I do this as quickly as I can but it does take a few min. longer. I have been doing this for years & no one has complained to me.
  9. I e-mailed P-Line & asked that question but they nevered answered me. On the box it does say It outperforms every major competitor by as much as 40% for the same # test. The reason I asked them was because I use high modulus thin wall custom rods (Shikari SHX blanks). I don't want to over power the rod so I am careful on braking strength of the line I use. I wanted to try P-Line's new Evolution so I bought 12# test to use on my 12 to 20 lb line weight rods. I have been using Yo-Zuri ultra soft & Gamma copolymer which are great lines. I think that the P-Line Evolution is crap. I have not had a fish break off in over 2 years, While using the evolution I have had 3 break off this spring. I have been fishing in the grass & lily pads, the abrasion resistance is terrible. Needless to say that crap is in the trash & I respooled those reels with the Yo-Zuri & Gamma line. In the past I did use P-line CXXX but switched for the same reason R/W did
  10. It's Raul's fault I ended up with that many Shimano's. I could not go to the lake much from the middle of November through Feb 17th because my 94 year old mom was with me & I could not leave her for long periods. To help me through this hard time Raul sent me the Japanese bait monkey & GinRin info. From there it was down hill. I will tell you since 2/17 I have been on the water about every day for at least a couple of hours. The Antares AR & DC are some kind of smooth reels, The Scorpion's are on Shikari custom rods & the set up weighs less then 10 oz. Am I happy? YES. Thanks Raul
  11. Here goes. 1- 5 Bantam Magnumlite 2001 GT Plus 2- 3 Curado's CU-201 3- 2 Curado's CU 201B5 4- 2 Curado's CU 201 B38 5- 6 Scorpion Mg 51 6- 6 Antares AR 7- 3 SpeedMaster 201 8- 1 Antares DC-7 9- 1 Antares DC 10- 2 Stradic's 11- 1 Sustain Am I in the posse? I am not sure if I qualify because I sold 2 Curado CU-201's & a Sustain. I did have 35.
  12. Are you wetting the line before you slide the knot tight?
  13. I like a little stretch all the time it helps with the rod shock. I use copolymer line because it has a little give. I also use high modulus rods & need some stretch to prevent the rod from breaking on hook set. I have found the Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft works great for this.
  14. I agree with Raul It's going to take time to re-build his site. I felt that he selling so cheap to recoup a lot of cash to purchase this years items to up grade his store. If he could buy in larger quanity he would probley get a better price & be able to sell cheaper than the rest. In December & January I up graded my reels. I bought 16 from him plus some tackle so I was on his site often & I can tell you he moved some product. I am sure he hurt the smaller dealers that were looking for the Christmas sales. It's like BPS coming to town a lot of the smaller tackle shops close. It might be that he is trying to corner the market. THAT'S MY GUESS.
  15. I ordered my handles from Shimano. The reason I went with the Curado handle is that is 84mm, a little larger than the Chronarch mg handle. After getting them today I am glad I went for them.
  16. Just for you information The new Curado 201 DHSV handle fit my Scorpion 1001 mg's like a glove.
  17. I do not do it. I put my rods in the rod box when I am done fishing. I store everything before heading to the ramp. All I have to do is put it on the trailer, put the motor toter & the boat straps on & go
  18. I have 1 of my casting rigs that I use 6 # yo-zuri ultra soft on. It's a custom rod (line wt. 6-12#) with a Shimano Scorpion mg. I use it to throw Charlie Brewer slider jigs. It works fine.
  19. I am not so sure Gary Loomis is still at Shimano. Keep you ear on the ground & you might hear something real soon.
  20. Muddy I disagree with Squid I thought you look older then me & I'll be 68 in march. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KID
  21. I have 2 or 3 of them also.
  22. Only 1 boy you are doing great. I have been using a baitcaster since 1974 & still get them.
  23. Muddy_Man does this mean you have a posse too? I am sure you will have that baitcasting equipment down pat in no time. keep your spool setting tight until you get use to the feel of the rig then loosen it up a little at a time.
