Let's talk coolers
I have an Eagle Talon Yak by Field and Stream. A milk crate doesn't fit in the rear space, but my Igloo Marine cooler fits. It keeps ice cold on the water. I use it for fish when panfishing, and can keep water, apples, bars, or whatever in a plastic bag inside. I have attached rod holders similar to Catt's photo. I usually never get to fish more than 6 hrs, so it is fine even in the MS heat. I attach with bungee cords.

"Southern" bucktail
I live in MS and have access to local bucktail. Not as good as the northern bucktail. I will try to dig one out for you, if you'd like.

Prespawn
You can't catch fish unless you are fishing. I àlways heard that dogwood blooms indicate spawning bluegill. First fulll moon in March, etc and other country sayings. As Richard Gene says, "Go fishing when you can. It's good fer ya!"

Lots of rods vs. Lots of tackle
Fishing from a kayak I can only take a couple rods and a small selection of lures. But I have a lot to choose from. However, it is easier to go with fewer rods.

GAmagatsu Hooks/Walmart
Glad To report That Mississippi is a leader in this area. My Walmart has Gammy, Mustad, Diachi, and Tru turn , as well as Eagle Claw. Seems like maybe Berkley, too.

How much you spending?
I need to stop. Bought a good bit of Crappie stuff, plus about $100 worth of bass lures in the past 2 months. Bought some used rods and reels at a bargain for another $150.

Finesse setup?
I use a okuma on an ugly stick GX2. 8 lb trilene crystal with maxima leader for all my light applications including ned rig. No expert here.

Graphite or "Plastic" haters
I had a cheap Abu plastic housing break on a spinning reel just below the bail attachments. I may have dropped it.

braid v floro for pitching
I mostly use braid with hybrid leader, or straight braid. Have also used straight fluoro and mono. Not a big difference. I also fish the slop. The braid is supposed to wear easily on rocks. I have rip rap and fish hybrid or mono there. I am trying yo-Zuri hybrid for treble hook baits. I am experimenting with lines.

2018 Fishing Arsenal
I also fish from bank or kayak. I have about sixteen 3600 boxes full plus crappie boxes and fly boxes. I can only take a little out. I go back and forth on how to put it together for fishing, whether to have a boat box kind of like what you have, or just take a small bag with a couple boxes for the techniques I want to try that day. This is approaching an existential crisis. I like your approach. I know a guy who keeps one box in his truck with some cherry picked stuff in it. Similar to your set up. Thanks for posting this.

"Off season tackle purchases"
One of my goals is to catch fish every month. So far so good. I seem to buy a lot of stuff when the weather is bad. I drive by DSG and Academy on my way to work. BPS is closeby. Problem

And don't forget H and H spinners.

Worms, Grubs and Tubes
I fish from a yak. Can only take a small amount at once. I usually try to take something for each part of the water column.

burner worm/speed worm
Burn it with speed. Couldn't resist.

Jig Fishing
When I started with a jig I followed Catt's advice and fished it like a T rig worm, more or less. It worked. Not an expert, but no longer intimidated. Don't over think it.

Spincast Reels
I think people forget the learning curve required with the old bait casters. Some would birds nest if you looked at them hard, it seemed. I can remember the day when I graduated from a cane pole to a Zebco. I thought I was the man. I had never seen any other kind of reel"in person." I was later excited to get my first spinning reel. Thought I belonged on the show with Marlin Perkins. I now use different reels for different situations. I sometimes use a Johnson century reel when crappie fishing. Nostalgic for me. My Grandfather was so proud of his. I can still remember him taking it out of the box. Yeah, we were poor, like most of our friends, but didn't know it. My wife won't use anything but a spjncast. She can use a spinning reel, but doesn't like it. I bought her the highest end Zebco they make. That thing is super smooth. The last thing I will say is that more deer are killed each year with a 30-30 than any other gun. Best choice?
