  1. 1/8 pro spider sliders for me. I've used them for 20+ years and never had a problem. Honestly the hooks will dull before you lose them. I've gone to 3/16 also for some deeper water.
  2. 4" berkley finesse worm (discontinued)
  3. 1/8 oz. Black Jigs and craw trailers 1/8 oz. Spinnerbait Floating Rapala 4" Senkos Frogs In Line Spinner Popper 4" Finesse Worms w/ Spider Slider heads Buzzbait
  4. The epoxy works well. With the super glue gel, try putting a small amount in first and making sure the base is coated. Let dry and fill in the rest with glue. That way the guard stays in place. Give it plenty of tine to dry.
  5. All those colors are good. I've been using alot of translucent skirts this season and they've been working real well in the cooler water. Since the water warmed up, the spinnerbait bite has slowed, except for days with a chop on the water or overcast.
  6. Your motor probably does have some kind of charging system, but you have to run the motor a long time to put anything back into the battery, especially if your using a trolling motor also on the same one. The motor won't put enough back in. Like everyone else said, use one for the regular motor and a separate deep cycle for the trolling motor.
  7. X2 on what Cadman said. Loose end in the hole.
  8. Like the others have said, rapalas, small swim baits ( I've been using keitech swing impacts) small jigs and a frog. The frog works even in open water.
  9. New to jig fishing, I would start out with two types of trailers. A twin tail grub and a craw type.
  10. Look to custom guys also. I've picked up alot of hand pours in custom colors for some great prices and free shipping. Alot of guys will give breaks on jigs and such also.
  11. X2 on the hybrid. Been using it for 2 seasons and love it.
  12. Nybass is a great source of info for the island. For a canoe there are alot of very good places. Forge pond, peconic river, ronkonkama and many others. Go on the nysdec website and you can pull up lake maps and info on all the long island lakes.
  13. Smoke, BTW, Optimas have a $25 rebate per battery going on.
  14. Jigman, just did the exact same thing. Optimas for t motor and the diehard to start. Only used it once so far, but seems good. Also put a new 3 bank minn Kota charger in. Those things charge in no time.
  15. Heresay has it that, Ronks had some good fish come up so far. Nice smallies. Blydenburgh should also be good this time of year.

Black Brown Orange Green Pumpkin Blue
  17. Wacky rigged 3" senko under a float. Keeps it out of trouble and they can still move it around for action. It worked great when my kids were young.
  18. Try looking for some hand pours. A lot of guys make some really nice hula's and they're normally cheaper and in bulk. Flecks Baits in CA made me some great ones last season.
  19. I alternate all year between: brown and orange black green pumpkin blue
  20. Excellent job! Gotta love custom rods.

Pliers with a small o ring to make the skirt and wire to tie it on.
  22. Bigger pic added. Thanks guys.
  23. Thanks.
  24. Somewhere between $1K and $2K. Parted out its worth that. Everything is old though and can go at any time.
