  1. My tip-heavy Mojo is a great rod! At $100 a pop with a 5 yr warranty, can you do much better for the price? NO! I paired one Mojo with a Citica DPV (big ol reel) and the other with a Procaster SE. They get as much use as my Revo/Avid combos. If it breaks within 5 yrs, I can upgrade it anyway! The Mojo is rated 4.8 out of 5 stars at BPS after 2 years of ratings, they must suck. ;D
  2. St. Croix Avid AVS66MLF. Nothin else compare for the price and warranty.
  3. I have a few Team All Star casting and spinning rods. I like them, but not as much as my Avids I have been looking for a rod in THAT size and action. Not wanting to spend a lot of cash right now. This might be a great find... I like the palm swell in the handle, it looks like an Avid handle almost. I need a cheaper rod for the work truck and this might get the nod.....
  4. Why do you need to take it off the reel before you put it on another? ;D Just tie it to the other spool and GET-R-DUN!
  5. Anyone used this stuff yet? I picked up some 12 for finesse jigging and a few other applications where the water is too clear for braid. I usually fish P-line fluoro-clear but they were out. > Seems pretty stiff and maybe looks like memory could be an issue. Hope I dont get let down by Berkley AGAIN! I like the visibility, but I wonder does this stuff fluoresce under blacklight? Bass see a much more broad UV spectrum, right? Wouldnt this stuff be visible to the bass above the water?!
  6. YEP! Buffalo you got there! I catch these in the Ohio when jig fishing for bass! I've never heard the term small mouth buffalo, but maybe I've never caught a largemouth buffalo! ;D CONGRATS, they put up a great fight
  7. YES I fish them with higher expectations! ;D
  8. My Code casts as well as my Revo! I've had it almost a year and I like it alot. Megaforce seems cheap and gimmicky.
  9. The only one I own is BSR803 but I like it for plastics and small tubes. A "niche" rod for sure.
  10. Great combo. You will not regret it. Good call, I forgot about the pflueger president! ;D I OWN ONE! I also have a Shimano sonora I got at wally world for $40, it's been a decent reel and smooth.
  11. CODE cough, cough revo s GM had a Code combo with a code rod that's a split grip for 129.99 6'10" mh it's not too shabby. unusually long handle though
  12. St.Croix Avid AVC66MF / Abu Revo Sc 12# p-line fluoro-clear Team AllStar TAS785S / Abu Soron 20 8# grn sufix mono I throw most pointers and bigger jerks with the BC but I fish smaller X-raps, husky jerks n such with the spinning rod. My spinning rod is moderate fast, I use it for small cranks too. I've tried fast action for spinning and jerkin' ;D and it dont work for me.
  13. When I hook a BIG 'UN I usually say " where u goin?" I heard my uncle say that to a big catfish when I was 7. It just stuck. Another time a friend caught a 1 1/2 lb hybrid sunfish and he said " look at that DUDE" calling the fish a dude, not me. ;D Now when we catch a big bluegill we call them DUDEGILLS!
  14. I live in Indiana and our state record is 13+! I think I would have to be willing to drive to Fla, Tx or Cali. Catch a 14 and then drive back with the new record. I've seen 11+s come from a lake I fish, but I doubt that's getting broke by anyone soon.
  15. May I recommend spending 100 on a rod and 40 on a reel? The feeling of a good rod just cant be beat! You can get a spinning reel of any brand for about 50. I only buy St. Croix since my first one was gifted to me! I've had cheaper and more expensive rods. Any reel can pull line or a fish in. You cant feel fish on just ANY rod!
  16. the best ones I recall were on zara spooks and spitn images.
  17. I was crappie fishing and caught a 5 1/2 lb LMB on 4# uncle bucks crappie line from BPS and a 5' ultralight! I got another that was just shy of 5 on another day. BTW, I have pulled 2 small X-mas trees off of the bottom of the lake by hand, trying to snap off my jig using that line!
  18. I see people freeing a snag with their rod all the time! DO NOT DO THIS! IF IT BREAKS, IT'S YOU'RE OWN d**n FAULT!
  19. for splices I use uni to uni. Lures I use the Fish-n-fool! It won the knot wars on NAFC. Tested it with mono, fluoro and braid. Indeed stronger than improved clinch, san diego jam, trilene knot and palomar. Look it up, you will be glad you did. 8-)
  20. WOW! I cant believe you've never seen that! Every year I catch countless bass from early March to almost May that have very bloody tails, even anal fins. I fish in southern indiana, so I dont think its a southern thing. It's a spawning thing. I just started finding the red tooth patches yesterday, only on the bass from deeper water! :-?
  21. I live in Southern Indiana and lately I've been tearing em up on small finesse jigs (Eakins and Boo-Yah Bed Bugs) with small craw trailers. I get most bites in 4-8 feet of water on the fall, but I retrieve it with small hops and pauses and get just as many strikes that way. The only other baits I've been successful with this year are LC pointers and a few smaller cranks.
  22. I use some old 15# big game, fill the spool bout 1/2 way, apply a piece of electrical tape and then join my new line with an arbor knot so I dont tie straight to the old line. Every BC I have has backing on it, OLD CRUSTY MONO!Saves cash for the bait monkey!
