st. croix premier or st. croix mojo bass?
I cast and retrieve BC's with my right and when I cast the Mojo my left hand is on the very bottom of the split-grip. This creates a sling shot or catapault effect, lengthening my cast. I fish Avids too and look at the handle, it has a lil bit of a bulge at the bottom of the grip.VERY COMFORTABLE GRIP I bought 2 mojos to carry anywhere in my work truck, and I find myself fishn these as much as my Avids. ALMOST ;D The premer and mojo are the same blank so it just comes down to YOUR handle preference. GOOD LUCK

Best braids for bass fishing
I use Power-Pro and IT'S GREAT AND MADE IN THE US! I havent used the Sufix but I like their mono. Dont even waste the money on Fireline, its snapped on the cast after it buried down in the spool after a hookset! Several lost lures because of the Fireline Crystal. > I never had that happen with Power-Pro

Difference Between Good & Great Crankbait Rods?
. Indeed, I own 2 of these and you will not be dissapointed! I hook crappies on my jerks anc cranks all the time and this rod is soft enough to land most of them! I have the 7 footer too, I like it for plastics. I use mostly shallow cranks.

Hard Jerkbaits
I use x-raps and lc pointers and I really like the ghost colored pointer or the metallic finish ones depending on conditions. A pointer makes up 2/3 of my jerkbait fish total at least. I like the way the x-raps look and fish, just dont get the results of a lc pointer.

wave plastics
I have a bunch of tiki-sticks and they work as good as a senko. I have caught alot of bass wacky-riggin them.

ugly braid
There is only one braid....POWER-PRO 8-)

Catching bass in super clear water
I've had good results with a 5 inch fluke, a very fast retrieve and sharp snaps with the rod instead of twitches. Also, a small natural colored pointer, x-rap or husky jerk with a erratic retrieve pays off in super clear water. Senko if all else fails.

Best USA made rod...
Find a deal on a Avid, I bought 1 about 3 yrs ago, now I OWN 7 OF THEM! nothing i've fished even comes close! Not to mention St. Croix's AWESOME warranty program. Yes, the mojos are made in mexico now. DO NOT FORGET TO REGISTER YOUR NEW ROD ONLINE OR SEND IN THE WARRANTY CARD 8-)

viscous flouro
Yes! Viscous has been my worst line yet! I put it on 2 baitcasters and took it off after the first outing! > I like yo-zuri but I have to order it. I have sufix flouro now and I love it! I also have P-line flouro-clear and its good too but not nearly as abrasion resistant as the sufix. If money is an issue the P-line is super cheap!

Kids fish anymore?
My 5 yr old boy is a bigger fanatic than me! He screams and cries when its time to leave the lake. Since he was 3 he has been casting, retrieving, setting the hook and landing the fish (with a little help on the last one) He loves to release bass and always remarks "see you next time" LOL We occasionaly fish for keeper crappie and he always asks "you think we should keep some of these bass and fry em up, dad?" We were loading our boat at a local lake and he said to my buddy " hey, is that a Moja Bass?" I was so proud! ;D Fishing has been a family affair for as long as I remember, and I still cherish time on the water with my 72 yr old father. Nothing beats watchin Pops wrassle with a bass! 8-)

Catch & Release
I agree, keeping a few bass may help out a pond with a small size average. I live in Southern Indiana and a few years ago they opened a nice fish & wildlife area for the public. Before they opened it to the public we had to have a permit from a coal company and there were no boats allowed at all. My PB a 9lb3oz beast came from one of these lakes. THE FIRST WEEKEND it was open to the public regardless of size limits, people were taking home TONS of fish. I actually called our DNR and turned in a few people but I dont know if it did any good

Hi from Southern IN !
Welcome to a new found addiction! I too am from southern Indiana, Evansville exactly. Lets do fish sometime!

Pitching/Flipping quetions
I agree, if you are catching fish why change? I do flip beaver baits, I use 15 pound flouro and a 3/0 wide gap usually with a 1/4oz pegged for skinny water or 1/2 for deeper. I have found myself using these where I used to flip a big tube. Reaction Innovation Sweet Beaver is one of the best!

hello everyone! which rod?
X2 I also have the mojo, and they are both great just 5yr warranty compare to lifetime. The mojo is a lil heavier but still has st. croix service! 8-)

Rod Selection?
I have this Mojo and I love it! It's indeed a great all around rod, I have caught LM and stripers up to 22#'s on this rod! I have 2 Avids in the same size/action and I find myself fishing the Mojo more :-/ Get ready, the first time I set the hook, a 2#er came flying out of the water, talk about backbone! It is heavier than the avid but it feels good with my old Procaster 100 Se its green so i call this combo "the incredible hulk" ;D

Crankbait Spinning Rod Advice
I have a Team All-Star TAS785S 6'6" m mf that's medium power, moderate fast action. Its perfect for cranks on the smaller side. It came with a pflueger president, I fish it with 6 or 8lb suffix flouro. I got it as a gift combo and was not super impressed when I tried it for unweighted plastics. : Then I googled the rod # and realized the moderate fast action, even though it was printed on the rod! It's sweeeeet for small jerkbaits too! I have been pleasantly suprised at this combo. 8-)

Removing the rattles from a lipless crankbait
I bought a couple of lipless Yo-Zuri lipless cranks at Dicks that dont rattle and have a rubbery coating on them, I believe it was called "Living Rubber". I have found them to be very effective in clear water, but nowhere else. I wish I could remember the name.

Manns snake lure??
NO! THESE BAITS DO NOT CATCH FISH AT ALL! If you have any of these baits, they have been known to have faulty accelerator pedals and bad brakes! Please PM me and I will dispose of any of these dangerous baits free of charge. I will even pay shipping! ALL IN THE NAME OF SAFETY MY FRIENDS!! ;D

Stroking a jig?
I retrieve my jigs after I flip or pitch them, but they are not THAT heavy, so I doubt I get quite the same effect. I will definetely try to stroke my giant jig next time I'm on the water :-?
-
Rapala X-Rap
I fish the x-raps when the water is above 60 with a more rapid erratic retrieve. The LC's when the water is colder with longer pauses. I also throw the SK wild shiner and a few Rogues. The important thing to remember is do not limit yourself to just one of these. THEY WILL ALL CATCH FISH, just under different conditions.

What have you lost from it going overboard?
Myself, just a few pairs of pliers and glasses. I was fishing with my 5 yr old boy last year when he dropped in his FAVORITE Hot Wheel, a convertible 70-72 Chevelle. He squealed and cried for 30 minutes and other fishermen in the area were looking around like someone was killing a kid We still look for a replacement everywhere possible, grandpa gave me that car, he says. :'(

Suspending Jerkbaits
Another vote for Lucky Craft Pointers 98s and 100's but another one that produces for me is the Yo-zuri Pins Minnow.
