Vandam's Leading after 2 Days
Yes, I had heard through the grapevine that his biosonix unit was not working yesterday. He obviously got it fixed for today. ;D ;D

2002 ProCraft 210 SuperPro
I would give it a look but would not pay over $14k for it. It seems to me that just last fall there were guys advertising 2005 tritons equally or better equipped for $19K. I am not saying the boat is bad, as I am a procraft owner, just that $18.9k is too much. I know there are some guys on the forum that will give you more detailed info.

FLW Tour - Lake Travis Live Weigh-in @ 3pm cst
I thought for certain when I checked his name on the Lake Travis Roster he was listed as a "yes" for that event.....hmm...I must have been wrong or he dropped in the middle of the week. OH well come on Larry and Gary!! I am getting ready to watch todays weigh in.

Night fishing - Love/Hate
Avid, Sorry to hear about your loss. I have lost 3 different rigs on 3 different occasions, all over the side of the boat, non recovered. All were $100 or less outfits though. Look on the bright side though. This is the perfect time to start converting all your rigs to custom sprial wrapped rods. Give reel mech a call, he can build you one on a loomis blank if that is what you want.

FLW Tour - Lake Travis Live Weigh-in @ 3pm cst
What happened to Dean Rojas? Was he a late cancellation? I had him on my team and never saw him on the list of anglers due to weigh in. I was fairly confident when I checked the roster that he was marked "yes" for the tourney. I tried to go back and look at the roster but, it is not available now. I see a couple of other guys had him on their team as well. I don't think we all made the same mistake, did we? Anybody have any thoughts? Rob

Need opinions on GPS
If you look around you can find the h'bird 900 series combo gps and side imaging unit for around $1500 and now they have the 797 series with with the gps and side imaging with the smaller screen for around $900. I have never used any lowrance units with gps and currently have the hbird 737 and the 767(and happyw with their perfomance), I wish they would have had the 797 last year. I think the side imaging is the cats bottom. Look here: http://www.fishfinder-store.com/humminbird-fishfinder.html Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

How did you catch your HUGE smallmouth?
Here is my biggest smallie that I have wieghed. It was 3 lbs 8 oz, caught on a Luckycraft Sammy 100 in ghost minnow. It was caught 9-16-06. Everytime I look at this pic, I think the fish looks small but, it was a fat chunk. I weighed three times because I thought it had to be bigger than 4 but, to no avail, the scale read 3-8 every time.

How is your weather this morning?
6 degrees here this morning with a projected high of 14 today but, that feels warm compared to the single digit highs and subzero lows we had last week. Come on spring :'(

quadrabeam?
I agree with you "rat". The quadrabeam allows you to more easily pinpoint whatever it is you are seeing due to the split screen, showing both cone signals. I like it as well. If you go to humminbirds website and click on the "quadrabeam" links it will give you a description and picitorial of how the two beams work in conjunction to help you understand the location of what you are seeing on your graph. I actually drew a picture of their illustration on the web and keep it in my boat for quick reference. I kept wondering why fish were showing up in one screen and not the other. Now I know why and have a better idea where they are in relation to my boat.

How did it happen?
I found myself falling into this awful trap by the "b" monkey, then not all that long ago I read a post by our own "roadwarrior" who said, " I only buy new baits that come highly recommended by members on this site..." I have since done my best to employ this method and condense my 5 bags of tackle into 1 "main" bag full of the top shelf stuff. It is a battle but, one worth fighting.

Want a 1/2oz floating jerkbait without rattles
I can attest to the twitchin raps ability to catch fish although, they do not float, they will sink at a moderate to slow rate. It saved me from getting skunked in my first tourney last year. It couldn't keep me out of the cellar though.

craw jig trailer mod
I am certain that I would need to see the footage of this happening before I could come to any hypothesis on the matter.

What do you want to see?
LBH, And the rest of you guys with cameras, make sure you leave some time for yourselves to do some fishing. One thing that would be nice to see(for us who can't make the trip) Is a little clip of each person there stating there name and where the hale from. Nothing fancy, just a little 3 second clip. Thanks guys and may you all have a wonderful and safe trip.

TD Fuego??
I have the fuego. It is a nice smooth casting and reeling reel. What are you planning to use it on? If you won't be going too heavy an application I would suggest going to the Daiwa Alpha type f. It is lighter, smoother and it is great for palming. It is available for $206 shipped from Brooklyn Bills, if he has any in stock.

Somebody help me get one of these!!!
LBH, You are welcome to come visit out here(South Dakota)anytime. We will put you into some smallies or walleyes. I wouldn't recommend the winter though. Chances are, you won't need to travel this far to get into some smallies but, your always welcome if you find yourself out this way.

Horton, no surprise for me.

rod for new daiwa zillion 7.1:1
I would have reelmech build you a custom spiral wrap to your specs.

sol
spinning or baitcaster? My buddy has the sol in baitcast and I have the alpha (japaneese version of sol). I think they are well worth it I will buy another alpha, because it is lighter than the sol.

rowland martin?
Everytime my kids see that ad, they ask me for one. The other day one of the neighbor kids were over and they were talking about it (how cool it was and that they wanted one). I keep telling them "no, no,no those are just junk, if you want a pole I'll buy you one". (even though they already have poles) I wish I would have read this post a little earlier. This is just what I need to get them fired up about fishing. I'll tie on a beetlespin and let them blast that thing all over the lake. I hope they make to the spring before they are off the market. Hopefully they will be on sale too. Thanks for helping me out of the box guys.

Minn Kota Power Drive vs Minn Kota Maxxum
I too used to own a power drive and now have a cable steer. There are times that I miss the power drive ie, when I want to slowly troll parallel to a long straight bank while casting. But, there are times when I have to be able to make quick changes in direction due to current and obstructions. When that happens, the power drive just don't cut it. If you have the power drive, you will find yourself staying away from "fishy" cover or spots because of your inability to navigate. I wanted to go where I thought the fish were, so I changed to the cable and never looked back. The power drive just allows you to troll some areas with less effort, but restricts you from going into some others. The cable takes a little practice but, like everything else, once you get it mastered, you just do it without thinking about it.

Thoughts on Humminbirds?
I now have a h'bird 737 and 767 and am happy with both of them. My only regret is not putting that money towards the 987 si. Prior to my h'bird units I had three Eagle units and was always disappointed with them. I can't remember what model they were (420's I think). They would just go haywire every so often and I would have to shut them off and restart them. The 737 and 767 I now have are easy to use (after educating yourself) and easy to read. The gps functions are easy to use as well. One thing I might suggest is to go shop them at BPS or Cabelas and get some hands on with them before you purchase. Good luck

Big Smallmouth
great looking fish. How big are they?
