  2. No it was just a new lake record for Lake Mission Viejo and 128 acre private lake, Fish was 19 lbs 11 ounces. One the same page they had a little blurb to get you thinking about whether or not a world record fish should be allowed to come from private waters. That is my second issue of the mag and would highly recommend it for guys like me (semi newbie). I too enjoy the "day on the lake" articles, Where they take an Elite Series angler to a mystery lake they have never fished. They follow them for the day recording all their actions methods, and thougts. Good read and educational.
  3. I would think I would, but by nature I am lazy. If it was not too much work, I think I would. :-/
  4. RW, Thanks for taking the challenge and Russ thanks for offering it. I have to lean on RW's side as I tend to fish mainly Yamamoto products. I have always wanted to give others a try but, since my time on the water is so valuable I just stick with what I know works and more importantly what I have confidence in. Thanks for taking the time to try something different. I'm sure I am not the only one wanting to know the outcome, and best of all, with you guys running the study, we can be assured that no variables were compromised.
  5. There is a pond close to my home that has no bass in it. It is about 3/4 to 1 acre and about 12-15 feet at its deepest level. About 5 years ago some people must have put some gold fish in it because they are all over in it now. I have been thinking about putting some bass in it in hopes that it may someday become my little semi private fishery. I have not done it yet due to my uncertainty of the bass's survival rate, or causing some other unforseen problem. Any thoughts as to why or why not to try this? It is on a golf course and chemical run off is one my concerns.
  6. For me it would be smallmouth waters. Anywhere that I could catch 3+ pounders all day. Anyone knowwhere that is?
  7. DC, This is key. 90% of your strikes will come from the initial fall(quote from Ike). You have to let your senko fall on "semi slack line" and be a line watcher. Watch your line for a twitch or jump or sideways movement, or if your bait is 5 ft of water and it stops falling after 2ft. When you feel or see that, reel down feel for the fish and then set the hook. It sounds like you are letting your bait fall on too slack of line if you can't see or feel that. If all else fails put the line in your fingers during the fall. That may help you feel those bites. If it is getting dark you will need to do that. Good luck PS my heart jumps when I see the line jump ;D
  8. goose egg for me but, this could be my year
  9. Iowa Nebraska South Dakota Maine Wisconsin Indiana Arizona Michigan Hoping Oklahoma and Texas will be on my list b4 the years out. Oh yeah, and Ohio. How could I forget "Oh how I hate, Ohio State" Anyone ever see that bumper sticker?
  10. I'm just guessing but, I think that would be a "relay timer switch" other than a "pump" issue. If your pump works on manual then that would tell you it is a switch issue. Your switch position controls when the power is sent to the pump. "Manual" constant voltage to the pump, "Auto" power to the pump for a certain amount of time, time delay relay shuts it off for a certain amount of time, then back on, then off.... you get the picture. Not sure if the time delay realy is part of the switch or not. Look at your other switches to compare if that switch is a bigger with more components or pull the switch and take it over to a local electronics wholesaler. They should be able to tell you if it is a TDR switch or not and more than likely have it in stock. Good luck
  11. Getting a job and keeping that job will go a long way in showing your dad that you are ready to take on the responsiblity of boat ownership.
  12. yeah.....just what they said. your C-rig will be your substitute for electronics.
  13. I also recieved my shirt and sweatshirt last week. Just in time to spill cherry "slushy" juice all over it while working the concession stand at my kids ball game monday night. > Luckily my wonderful bride was able to make it look new again. ;D Thanks for the great deal glenn!
  14. jig dropshot c-rig Mainly cause I just never use them.
  15. I voted offended, but more specifically I was insulted. Why would they "berkely" market to a segment that in my estimation, is comprised of 90% or more a male market. Do they think we are a bunch of "gay" fishermen. Go sell Brokeback mountain somewhere else. I despise those adds and tunr the channel anytime it comes on.
  16. The only video I have is of me catching a 36" pike, in my underwear no less. It is so old its on vhs.
  17. mini strike king 1/4 oz, in chartruese, light spinning tackle and line.
  18. I still pick my nose. I just can't seem to quit. It's so darn convenient when there is no kleenex around. Who am I kidding, I still do it when the box is a 2 ft away.
  19. It just amazes me that people with attitudes like that get into business, and even more amazingly, they stay in business. Obviously the guy has some "issues" laugh it off and go fish. I refuse to waist energy on negative people like that.
  20. Does anyone have any recommendations for preventing rock damage to your boat and trailer when trailering your rig down gravel roads?
  21. cgs, I bought a 21 ft fiberglass boat 2300 lbs not including the 225 merc, and it came with a 24v 70# thrust motorguide on it. It just was not enough to pull my boat around in the river current of 5 mph. This spring I bought an 80# thrust minn kota maxxum 24v. In my opinion, I can't tell the difference between the two, and on certain days I might say the motor guide did a better job. In retrospect, I should have gotten the 36v 101# thrust. They were less expensive than the 80#'s. It does not hurt to have a little extra power, but it does hurt wehn I don't have enough. I would get a little more than what you think you need.
  22. I am arguably the fisherman with the least skills on this site. I have caught this years pb on the senko. It was a 20" bass I guess it to be 4.5 ish. If I can catch fish on it, it has to be good. I should have been using it in my tourney last weekend.
  23. Great question. Last week I was fishing and the minute I would stop using the chartruese, they quit biting, the minute I change back, they start up again. I just need to start using it more often.
  24. Thanks for the good read guys
