baitcasting reels ?
Try the daiwa alpha, fuego, sol or viento. You should be able to pick those up for $200 or less. For the life of me I just can't figure out why the "posse" wants to waste time opening up the side plate to adjust the brake settings when on the daiwas it is just a click away.

alpha type-f or TD sol?
I have the alpha and love it but, thought the same thing as "f"n doug" about getting it repaired, so I was looking to add a sol to my collection, because I thought the sol and alpha were the same weight. The other thing the sol has that the alpha does not is the click setting drag. Based on my new finding from "Raul" I think I will go with another alpha.

Carp on a fly
I know a fella that fly fishes for carp all the time in the Missouri River. They come up and eat the cotton off the top of the water in the backwater off the wing dike. The cotton is falling off all the cottonwood trees. He has a blast doing it. Those carp can get pretty big and put up a good fight.

Lowrance vs Hummingbird
I have the h'bird 737 on my bow and the 767 on my console. I am pleased with both units thus far. The 737 is the same as the 767 just without the Gps, but the 737 can be equipped with gps. When I was comparing the units prior to my purchase, the thing that made the difference was the power rating. I can't recall exactly but, I think the H'bird units had more watts in power, which equates to better separation. The other item was the dualbeam and quadrabeam transducers. It took a little while for me to understand them correctly but, I believe they give you better coverage. My two regrets: First off if I had to do it all over I would get the 947si. It is costly but, I think it is the cats bottom. Second. I wish my units had color. Originally I thought color was not worth the cost and that I would rather spend that money towards more power and gps. Now I think the color would help me distinguish between structure and fish or thermocline etc.. When I was looking at fishfinders, I went to http://www.fishfinder-store.com/fifira.html This helped me to compare different units, cost and capabilities. good luck.

Just for clarification, are you saying that, if the blades hit each other that is a good thing?

Finesse reels
I bought one of the alpha type f's this summer. Great little reel and it is so light and smooth. I'm thinking about adding another to my lineup. The sol is the American version of the alpha I believe, plus it has the clicking drag adjustment. I might go that route instead.

What do we really have to complain about????
I'm grateful that I don't have to chase it anymore, I have to fight for it every now and again but, its always worth it.

Ebay advice
matt, It is a scam. Do you have a buy it now option on your listing? I think you can choose to end the auction at any time, or you can go in and change the listing time or add a buy it now option. Also you should be able to cancel your listing, you just have to pay some fee to ebay to do it. All the ebay faqs should cover this. Now for selling off line, you have to beware of the people wanting to buy for more than your asking price. This is a common scam where they offer you $5k for something you are asking $3k for but, they want you to send them $2K back as a refund. They send you a fake money order, cashiers check, etc,.. and you send them the product and the refund. Meanwhile 4 weeks later your bank informs you that the check was a phony, now you are out the product and the $2k. If you don't know the buyers personally then I would make them pay via paypal. That is the most secure method I know of, although I am sure there are people out there making scams through it as well. With pay pal you should be able to send the buyer an invoice. You don't have to give them your paypal account info, you invoice theirs. Once they make the payment through pay pal you should be good to go.

expose/don't expose hook on plastic worms
99% of the time I have the hook in the worm. The only time I take it out is, if I'm missing fish and there are no snags.

One of my favorite shows, the best thing is all you have to do to watch the episodes is go to his website that randall posted and you can pick and choose between any of his hows to watch.

I Hate BPS
The best way to stop getting catalogs from a company....stop buying from them, if that is an option. It might take a little while but, they will eventually stop.

daiwa sol or daiwa feugo baitcaster
RW, I tried to take your advice on the calais 200 APV for cranks but, I prefer a left handed reel and shimano does not make a 201 APV. I instead tried the new curado 201 DPV. I have only been out with it about three times. It seems comparable to the daiwas in smooth cranking and casting. I do prefer the easy access to the brake adjustments on the daiwa's though. It takes about 2 seconds to adjust them on the daiwas and about 30 seconds on the curado. That can seem like an eterninty. I'm sure with time I can get that down to 15 seconds on the curado.

What bait was your largest bass caught on?
6" senko black with blue flake rigged weightless.
-
daiwa sol or daiwa feugo baitcaster
I own the fuego and the alpha(japanese version of the sol). The alpha is my favorite reel. It is lighter and smoother casting than the fuego. I would not hesitate to use it on lighter jigs or weightless t-rigs but for the c-rig, I would stay with the fuego.

Lipless Cranks
I like the LC LVR7 in silver with black back. I caught a lot of fish on it this year when the the other r-traps would not produce. Slow retrieve just above the weed line and ripping it through dead beds of lilly pads in the spring is where I had most of my success.
