  1. LOL them people make me laugh so mucb. I don't even know what started that but it died down since then. I am not sure what I have spent the most on. Maybe a HPH I think. I have also bought tons of OG 250's for 80-130 ish and that is the most common purchase for expensive baits I guess. By a long shot the most productive and big fish catcher still remains the S-Songs. I think they retail for $60 and probabaly the best swimbaits I have ever bought.
  2. I fish places like that all the time. Basically just practice and time fishin makes you better at getting baits through and licking it apart. There probably has to be some places where it doesn't come up as far or it will get spotty and you can also find lanes in it. The easiest method to catch fish is put on your glasses and pitch some plastics in any holes you see.
  3. In line spinners or a very small jerkbait. Either of those will literally catch anything.
  4. You can use a cranking stick but you would be better off actually buying a swimbait rod. If that is something you plan on getting into of course.
  5. I don't think the heavy stuff is going to come down for quite a while.
  6. Thought I would share some of what we do every year.
  7. They kill it. I have never owned a clone but did have one of the $20-30? Ones. I forget how much it cost as it was like 4 years ago before clones. Now I guess there is different leg attachments. I should look into getting one again actually.
  8. I like big game and XL but I would take XL over big game. It's is actually some nice line and pretty cheap. Both can be had at Walmart.
  9. I would also think a TP is the way to go.
  10. What I was saying Adam is your talking about using reels with no brakes. Therefor you will be using tension to control your casts. I personally will take brakes over constant tension any day and keep tension to a minimum at all times. Like I said it is usually 0 and only set enough to remove and play in my spool. Tension is always constant and will limit the distance of your cast or make you cast harder to achieve the same distance. That's just for me personaly. What works for one person might not work for another. All you can do is offer your point of view and hope it is helpful. Everyone is friends here.
  11. I don't find it challenging at all to use a casting reel. I also did not have any kind of teacher and taught my self. I am only stating that from the perspective of most new users dual braking is beneficial. I my self personally use a very minimal amount of brakes on my reels and am a fan of having 0 spool tension. I am pretty much against using any spool tension on a reel that has braking but that is just how I fish. There are times when tension is somewhat of a must like when casting 6 oz baits and such but not everyone fishes that way any many use tension constantly.
  12. You def want dual brakes. I don't agree with you needing to lean how to cast using only thumb. Turn up your brakes so casting is easy then slowly back then off as you become more comfortable using it. You will spend more time casting and having fun in the water. That in turn will teach you faster as you are not spending your time getting frustrated or picking out backlashes.
  13. It is hard to find a UL that actually has some length to it. It's easy to find rods in the 5' range but anything over 6' seems to be few and far between.
  14. I have no idea really as I don't ever see or hear much about UL rods. I do know the last UL rod I bought is a 6'6" and a Quantum. I don't like a short rod even for UL and I like 6' or more personally. Your best bet might be to go to a actual tackle shop and see what they have.
  15. It's very doubtful that person casts 45 yards with a black max. That is not to say it isn't possible but it would be under specific conditions I am sure.
  16. Do not impale the bluegill through the back. I have found it best to hook it deep through the mouth and out the cheek. It doesn't damage the fish and will not kill it like hooking in other places.
  17. I never liked the wood handles . But I am a fan of 2 spools
  18. Unless a fish is something special I don't bother with any kind of picture anymore. Is it a new PB?Or truly some rare thing and you might only catch 1 or 2 like this a year if your lucky? You guys must be setting new PB's all the time or setting some kind of personal milestone or it was some really special moment you want to remember to be snapping tons of pictures of better then average but yet just "regular" fish. I just never really felt the need to take photos of a fish that I am going to catch 50 or 100 of in a year.
  19. I agree 100% I bought one and it only lasted 1 cast. First cast got it got bit and bye bye legs. I tried to contact them about it and got a ridiculously hard time. I think I ended up throwing it away cause I was not happy with the BS they gave me.
  20. I have no idea really but it adds up quick for me buying big expensive baits. The upside is they are kinda better because there is always a market to resell them or trade. It is actually possible to be making money with them flipping baits or if you have a line on some for cheap. I had thought about doing it and making side cash but I can't bring my self to do it. Just knowing what I pay for them and knowing what I could sell for and how much I would make is not fair. I would just feel like I am getting over on people.
  21. i would think in MLF a UL would crush it a lot of times. You can weigh everything and those .5# fish can add up when your catching 4-5 to someone's 1.5-2# fish. I get it wouldn't be ideal all the time but you can put a hurt in fish with some tiny jerkbaits, rooster tails, grubs, ect.
  22. I would go glass personally. All the lures you have listed and treble lures so hook setting power shouldn't really be a issue. The only problem is if your fishing grass with a lipless. You probably won't have a fast enough tip to clear it the majority of the time. But for very sparse grass or open water I would use a glass over graphite any day.
  23. I am not telling people to run out and try to snap hevy braid. I have popped 50# before but that's like extreme and pretty much the limit. The way it builds tension an how it digs on your forearm versus your hand are totally different. All I was saying is that it's a quick and easy way to break off with regular line but can also be done with braid. It has nothing to do with me being lucky. It's physics.

  25. Skipping backhand was the first way Iearned. The way I pitch backhand a lot of times it's almost a skip as its just above the water as it swing around for most the cast. I just do the same thing but lower. For me it's all about hitting the water at a shallow angle. Like you would want to skip a rock.
