Totally agree with this. I also didn't think that 2nd year QB Drake Maye would even be in the MVP conversation either....but here we are

Bare minimum annual reel maintenance
You must be my brother from another mother. I use freshwater rods and reels for saltwater use. I come back after every outing and hose down my rods and reels, quickly wipe with towel and air dry with an 18 volt leaf blower. My winter reel clean up is a breeze and, surprisingly, no oxidation inside. Loved the post bud

So I just learned a huge lesson....
Don't give up, give it another try. Sometimes you gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet.

Totally forgot you did spincast molds. How long do the silicone molds last? They sound like they provide easy modification such as your underspins.

Reel Painting | Winter Project
The one I'm testing it out on is a Shakespeare spinning real. Has to be 15 years old at least. My son started fishing with me at 5 and he's 21 now. I think it was a combo a relative got him back then. It's definitely a composite. I'll give it a whirl

Reel Painting | Winter Project
It’s a good point Tom and I just looked at the reels again. Both are not anodized and are painted. I took off the spool and both appear to be something other than a metal (aluminum?). Not sure what they’re made of but guessing like a material a fishing rod is made of (graphite?). Anyway, thank you, great post. You gave me pause to check and think. I think I may have to remove the original paint so it won’t be, to your point, too thick. Thanks again

Reel Painting | Winter Project
Anyone ever paint a spinning reel? Results? The ask is to paint the rotor, drag cap and spool a color to match a rod. Leaving the reel body black. I have my son’s old spinning reel to use as a test reel before I apply to a newer reel but wanted to see if anyone has tried/done it before. I like the idea of the color scheme matching the rod TBH. That came out incredible! Loved that one Is that a jig mold you modified to get the underspin wire to fit into? Underspins are such an underused lure for me. I really need to use them more. Looks great man

Can I throw a....
I was in a similar boat about 5 years ago looking to cast 1 - 1 1/2 oz lures and wound up buying 2 Daiwa Fuegos. 1 for my son and I. Not too pricey but perfect for what we do. Wish ya luck and hope Santa helps you out.

Can I throw a....
I think you’ll def be in a heavy situation depending on if your fishing a rod you have or a rod you want to get.

Can I throw a....
I pretty much use medium heavy for spinnerbaits up to say 1/2 oz. Anything bigger I go with a heavier powered rod. What size spinnerbaits you thinking of fishing?

PFD
Those canisters aren’t cheap. At least they weren’t when I replace a couple. But when it’s a 90* plus day I definitely want and inflatable @Lottabass, when I’m on the boat I wear a PFD I’m confident in. I am confident with an inflatable but I wear the foam ones more often than not. It’s like fishing go with what you’re confident with
