  1. I guess I am taking a step back here for clarification. A Tatula 200 is as big as a Shimano 300 physically and in line capacity. A Tatula 150 is the Tatula 200 platform with a lower capacity spool. A Shimano 200 is physically smaller than a Daiwa 150 with about the same capacity. Most everyone else's "150" is about the same (i.e., a "standard" size). Then there's the Itty bitty Alphas/70/50 sizes. With that said OP if your hands work with the size of a Tatula 200/150, they hold a ton of 20lb Abrazx and are no more than $135. I repair reels, etc, myself and have been very neglectful of mine, and they are still going strong. A Shimano Curado 200 is a bit harder to find at $150 but totally a great reel. If you look at the specs on a Tatula 80, it is also sort of surprising capacity-wise and is around 100. I throw swimbaits up to 4oz on Shimano 200s with plenty of line on the spool (65lb braid or 16lb Fluorocarbon). Bigger baits get the Tatula 200 and heavier line.
  2. Savage Gear Salamander Nikko ned. This thing is amazing
  3. HR Monkey side eyes Bait Monkey...
  4. Lake Champlain (VT in general) Alewife White Perch Fallsfish (Various trout and whitefish in Spring) Random places have shiners and chubs too. White works great.
  5. Not to go down a rabbit hole but there are at least 6 different types of lithium ion batteries. A cellphone/computer lithium battery is very different than an EV vehicle battery, than a power tool than one used for a boat. Much less the ones used in military applications. Saying a car burned or a cell phone sparked is not relatable to they type of battery use in a boat for a trolling motor. (Most of those issues involve other components failing causing the fires). I work for a company that is an industry leader in lithium battery tech. The original question... if the battery is purchased today is $125. Then in 3 months it's 99. You're still going to be stoked with them at 125 and not care about any savings. I'm up in Vermont (6 miles from Canada). I know dozens of dudes with lithium tm batteries and nobody has ever had an issue with cold. If it's below 32 at night then just charge during the day when it's warmer... the charge will hold just fine over night.
  6. Nishine doesn't really release junk so I trust them. But... that's got me a bit nervous lol.
  7. I have those drawers. The base is too light so they get jerky and slide around. Here's my MacGyver for you... Take out all the drawers. Drill holes in the base. Big boy zip tie them to the wire racks Put drawers back in. BONUS... put some wood under the base (same thickness as base) and drill through that as well so the zip ties pull against it and the plastic when you use the drawers. Added stiffness and weight helps too. Pegboard is the best for plastics and a shelf with planos for hard baits. But wanting to keep the footprint you have, do the zip tie and drill method.
  8. I have purchased 3 Zillions and a Tatula 200 and all were new unused and shipped very fast.
  9. Correction... you have 2 Zillions or a Steez A2 and $120 in Tatsu burning a hole in your amazon

  11. 65lb braid to a leader on my small bait rod (what you have currently). Won't dig in as much compared to smaller braid, casts just as far and fewer cast offs. 16lb sniper leader works fine for that class of baits. Straight fluorocarbon 18lb Sniper or Samurai is fine too. 20lb+ is reserved for S-waver 200 to Deps 250 class baits Tatula 200 line capacity = 16/185 Curado/Tranx 300 =17/150 Curado 200. 14/110 All are more than enough for what you're tossing. Might want to bump up the rod to the 795. I know it says 1-5oz but it really tops out about 3.5 (the 795). This is just my experience/recommendation.
  12. You are fine using "regular" casting reels for up to about 3oz. My .75 to 3oz rod runs an old Shimano Citca E. The reel is 12? Years old and functions fine for what it has to do. I run Tatula 200s on my up 6 and up to 8oz rods solely because of line capacity. Side note... a Daiwa 200 is basically a Shimano 300 line capacity-wise. And darned near the same palming size
  13. Line counter then sharpie the amount removed each time on the label.

  16. What crankbait-ish rods to you have now? (Swimbait rod or glass chatterbait rod?). If you don't fish them much then no need to go hog wild. I'm with Dwight on a Swimbait rod for 5xd-10xd type stuff. Kill 2 birds with one stone. The 7ft 10in HF BassX Swimbait rod is great for like $150 or so and will do big cranks and things like Magdrafts and 2oz glides really well. I've used mine with OSP Blitz Max DRs (2+oz dives up to 30ft) and it was great. The St Croix (not full glass) Medium Moderate and Med Heavy Moderate rods are great crankers in my opinion. I also really enjoyed the Powell Diesel Cranking rod. No I am not a St Croix Pro-Staffer...
  17. I would look at JDM stuff from Raid and Megabass (Deps & Gan Craft too). Lots of sub 7ft Heavy rods in Japan.
  18. I work for a giant in the auto industry (non manufacturer). I talk to several dealers daily (Kia to Lamborghini) and we all shoot straight. With that said... DO NOT GET A TRAILBLAZER. Crosstreks are good, Corolla is better. Regardless of brand... no CVT transmission Post 2020 vehicles are wildly inconsistent Avoid GM 3.3 or 3.6 v6 engines Avoid any Stellantis (Chrysler) Avoid KIA and Hyundai i.c.e. engines Kia and Hyundai EVs are pretty good actually No EcoBoost Fords. Do not laugh at a Prius...
  19. Can't say I've ever lost a fish due to a drag issue that wasn't my fault with a spinning reel. (Stradics, Kages, Ballistics, Sedonas, BG's)
  20. You rigging them with the weight slightly on top of the bait? Jighead have the right line tie?
  21. Whoa there Rainman! That's actually pretty cool.
  22. Just Google "Bass color receptors" AI will give you a summation. Going further there's articles from this site, national institutes of health, University of Illinois. It's really interesting stuff.
