  1. The list can be endless, clear water I Iike jerk baits, spoons and jigs, jigs especially, stained water I like darker colored jigs, spinners, and medium/shallow cranks, it really depends on the water but we can't help you much if you don't give us something to go on. let us know the water temp, clearity etc... and we can probibly narrow the field of baits to help you out, if that is what you are asking.
  2. Yea I know, I used to be into guns too, I love to hunt don't get me wrong, but if I had my choice I would rather fish. I found that the reds and browns mixed together work better for me this time of year with the jig rather than blue/black. Good to see you back !!!!!
  3. Jigs are my absolutely best way to fish, usually it's my first choice and if they hit it early and often, I will stay with it, Keep an open mind though Ej, Anna is a funny girl, especially this time of year, I suspect they will be a little deep yet and the jig will come in handy, a firetiger spoon/spinner/ jerk bait will also be something you want to have, just make sure if you throw the jb it's below the splits where the water is clearer and warmer, Pigeon creek and below are places I am going to concentrate on if I get the chance this Sunday. Ej I wish you the best of luck and let us know how you do !!!!
  4. Thanx Hotrod !!! The pearl white salt and pepper Fluke is one I use a lot there at Anna,it's usually pretty reliable. I will post some pics if it all works out.
  5. A-Rig is not for me my friend lol. I hear the same thing though, I think I am going to try and hunt them down as I normally do if I get the chance to go, I have been wanting to try some new things there for a while.
  6. Welcome to the forum !!!
  7. X2, I was turned on to the Rage Tail this winter, I have never had a fishing experience like the first time I used them with anything else. As for color, I generally stay close to what ever jig color I am using.
  8. Line watching is important don't get me wrong here, but as for me I use spider wire (Braid) with all of my jigs, the reason I do is because it has several advantages over others, the two most important for me are strength and visability, however, I would not use braid without a floro leader in clearer water though, the fish may be spooked by the line so I will not take the chance, I just seem to have much better luck with a leader on braid in gin or close to gin clear water. My focus is on my line at all times, it truly depends on the clearity of the water as to what line combo I will use, braid, for me is a better line to focus on when I need to pay real close attention to it, Jig fishing is not as perplexing as it seems, but, it is an art and one you really need to have in your arsonal, practice, pacience, and locating fish are the keys to fishing a jig.
  9. Not real clear on your question but I will try to give you an answer. Most all baits that you purchase from a location has all of the info printed on the package, some are not clearly marked, those are the ones I generally like to shy away from. If you are looking at buying used, then the only way to know for sure is to weigh them, that is if you are not familure with them, as you get more and more experience with baits you will be able to know what you are looking at. You can help yourself by going to the local store and just take your time and look at different baits that you are interested in, the info on the boxes will help you with getting familure with various shapes and sizes of tackle and what their purpose is. Hope that helps a little.
  10. Really nice job Ej, I look forward to hearing of your fisher of men tourny at Anna too !!! What day in March is that? Hotrod and Quanjig, really nice fish and a really nice job thanx for the pics !!!! I am hoping to get out soon, praying for an Anna trip on my B day this Sunday with the family, All I have been able to do so far is practice my flipping and pitching and it's driving me freaking NUTTS not to be on the water.
  11. This is a good rule of thumb, nice post TD, you also have to take in the weight factor as well here, while not so much on plane but getting on plane will consume more fuel as well as, water, wind conditions etc... will also play a role, I would figure closer to 3 or 31/2 miles per gallon. Regardless I would carry an extra 5 gallon can. Good luck by the way and be safe !!!
  12. I don't know if it is the hoops that we have to jump through or the people that we must deal with just to make a dream a reality, either way it's a dream worth the challenges you face. It really does not matter if it comes to us late at all... as long as it comes. Your products are one of the best on the market and one well worth the wait, as the old adage states "Good things come to those who wait" so wait we shall. Congratulations on making your U.S. company a success and for being able to grow in a tough economy !!!!!
  13. We have a lake simular in fasion to your lake here in Va. it too gets a ton of pressure even in the winter months. I really slow down my presentation in the colder months as we all do, when a lot of pressure is added into the equation it becomes even more difficult if you do not exibit strong patience. In the water temp and clearity you described, two things come to mind in my opinion, the jerk bait and the jig are my weapons of choice, longer pauses with the jb and a slower presentation with the jig. It sound like you are using the correct baits and finding the correct location since you are catching fish, my opinion would be to suggest that you slow down a little more.
  14. You sound a little like me when I get dead set on a particular bait, I just can not seem to put it down even though that voice in my head keeps telling me... PUT THE D**N THING DOWN !!!!! lol.
