  1. They're more sensitive because they're more dense, which is why they are smaller as well. The higher density transmits vibrations better, thus why it has more sensitivity than lead, and why tungsten is less likely to deform after it hits a rock, etc.
  2. Have you backlashed that line before? Any line with fluoro in it is severely weakened after a bad backlash if it puts a kink in the line. That may have ben the problem. You also didn't mention if you checked the line periodically for abrasion. That could have been a big factor. Every 100 casts or after every fish I run the line between my thumb and pointer finger to feel for any abrasion or nicks in the line. If so, I re-tie. I also retie after every trip, no matter what. I just have a pet peev about it, I think the knot gets kinda stale after drying and being exposed to alot of sunlight
  3. Goose has the right idea. With everything constant, the 50E will outperform the 200E with lighter lures. Just the nature of having a lighter spool with less line. However, the 200E has an advantage with heavier lures, because of the added mass the spool will spin longer, thus letting your heavier bait fly through the air without having to "pull" line off the spool. I would say as a general rule, if it wieghs a 1/4 ounce total weight or more, 200E will be better. less than that I would opt for the 50E
  4. As much as I love my Powell's, for 200 I would suggest a St.Croix Avid. They are a better rod in the sensitivity department, and their customer service and warranty are fantastic. However, I enjoy fishing with my Powells more. They are still plenty sensitive, but have a better balance and are a bit lighter. I have not used a Phenix Recon yet, but if you like the styling they might be the best rod out their, and at a great price. Supposedly every thing about the rod is great, including EXCELLENT sensitivity. But i've never used one. Edit: Whichever rod you choose, a 7' MH/F 1 piece rod will be the most all around rod.
  5. I dont have a story, but i'm glad to see i'm not the only person who says "Oy Vey"
  6. Its not the ideal ideal, but I think it's right for you. If you only want to carry one pole you will be fine fishing cranks with it, just back off the drag a smidge.
  7. My dad has Loomis hats, t-shirts, and all kinds of stickers he bought. Why? He thought the fish skeleton thing was really cool. He didn't know it was Loomis, atleast until I told him. Im sure alot of other average anglers are the same way. Not everybody is fishing junky like us and knows every cool logo in the fishing industry, and knows about our posses.
  8. I really really enjoyed the 8 and 10 # on my 50e for the techniques you want to do. I have mine matched up with a Powell Max 682C and it makes for a very nice, enjoyable combo with the 8 and 10#. If you want to go any higher I would suggest looking at Seaguar's InvizX line
  9. You'll want a MF St.Croix.
  10. You answer is in the post. " I put it on two spinning reels that I had grown tired of having line memory issues with." Its the spinning reels, not the line. Put in on a different reel.
  11. A Quantum Inferno, some nubs baitcaster I got for like 30 bucks. Then it broke, so I decided to put it on a cinder block and take a baseball bat to it. Plastic went errywhere. Then I got a Carbonlite, and never looked back. Baitcasting reels are my favorite by far.
  12. I prefer braid for lipless cranks, because im almost always ripping them from weeds in the VA area. I prefer Yo-Zuri Hybrid for lipped cranks, you can get away with a very low diameter for its strength, and its sensitivity is good. I prefer a good mono for jerkbaits, Sufix Elite . And I wont even get into what I like for topwater, because there will be a mass outrage like last time.
  13. How long have you had it ? What are your dislikes? How many times have you used it? And for what techniques? Have you had any big fish on it to test out the drag? IMO a review needs more insight. What you provided is more of an overview, that anyone can see at any big box website.
  14. Got my first yesterday, started off the year with a two, but hey, its a start! Over 2 days I've collected 9 fish.
  15. Just get some 12# Yo-Zuri hybrid and call it a day, spending less than 12$
  16. He's been nailing 'em on silver shad rattletraps lately, but today we were getting um on Baby Bass senkos.
  17. Excuse me sir, but you forgot Okeechobee Craw, and blue Craw which are the best.
  18. Nailed 4 all together with my dad today at Aquia Beach, we were only there for an hour, before I had to go to work. They were nailing just about any green plastic you can throw. Looks good.
  19. Simply put, I dont get out much in spring, because I have lacrosse every day. Went out today for an hour, and I caught two. My dad got two as well, but we each only had one worth a photo, his a 3 and mine a 2. My dads has a dark spot on it, so I think his bass might be sick. Otherwise mine looked very healthy. Definitely a good hour on the Potomac
  20. If you enjoy Sufix Seige, definitely give the Elite a try. It's the softer, more supple brother to Seige and I enjoy it for light cover fishing, when it's appropriate.
  21. Anything Okeechobee Craw, Blue Craw, Baby Bass, or some type of realistic shad variation.
  22. You talkin' bout me endless? And Outdoorsman, WE BOTH LIVE IN STAFFORD Small World.
  23. After a nice clean and flush/relube of the bearings I find that 2 is still the perfect amount. I usually throw a rage craw with a 1/8 ounce tungsten weight though with 8# Yo-Zuri. Line plays a big factor in castability as well.
  24. There is more top the rule than just that. The first person in usually picks a urinal on one end. The next picks the next end, then the other two are up for grabs in a scenario of 4. Always skip a space until it is forced that you intervene between persons. There is also generally no speaking, unless of course you and your buddy both end up peeing next to each other in which joking is permitted. Also, no pushing of other friends into the urinal. Thats not cool. And this should seem obvious, but you wait against the opposite wall. Not right behind someone. Thats awkward.
