Lake Eufaula Elite Marshal Experience
@OCdockskipper Excellent report, Thanks! I also recommend being a Marshall. A few years ago I was one at an Elite event a few years ago (David Mullins) and learned a lot about preparation and the finer points of situational adjustments, while getting some of the things I do validated. If anyone has the time and extra cash you won’t regret it. Again, Thanks for posting Mike

Best hollow frog
@SC53 Let me clarify, I said “one leg shorter” Don’t cut one leg off completely! On Any frog, there is no need to cut a leg shorter than in half. Experiment a little with whatever you chose. Also, any quality frog will walk over anything as long as it floating and enough slack is given with each pull as @RoLo said. Mike

Best hollow frog
Scum Frog trophy series. You’re gonna get a dozen different suggestions. No matter what you choose, if you cut one leg shorter it’ll walk easier. Mike

What is your cut off point/price on rods and reels?
200.00 for a reel and 450.00 for a rod. I’m partial to Shimano reels, no particular preference of rods. I would never at this stage by a combo. Always invest more on the rod. Mike

Gonna give braid a try
I use original Power with no reason to change. Keep in mind, you will lose all sensitivity with any kind of braid made by anyone if you leave any slack between you and the bait. Mike

Dinks - what tackle?
I’d give him a wacky rig, shaky head or a weightless stick worm. If he likes to cast and reel then the paddle tail is a good choice along with a swim worm like a Cut R or speed worm. Mike

How many casts to one target?
If fishing “areas” and not a specific spot I’ll fan cast all around with the same bait, speed etc. then move. If a particular spot I’ll hit it from all angles, then move. Mike

Fluorocarbon line for flipping
I use 20# Shooter for flipping and pitching in heavy to moderate cover except punching, and have been for years. For me, mono is the last line I would use for any type of bottom contact single hook presentation. But that’s me. Mike

Rigging up the Carolina Rig and too baits for it
Thanks James! Keep ‘em coming. Years ago when I first started getting serious about a Carolina Rig, I used an egg shaped lead weight which worked fine. When I was a Marshal at an B.A.S.S Elite event, my pro and I talked a lot about everything ( which surprised me a little as most of them aren’t very talkative). Anyway, he told me he uses a round weight as it will skip and slide better as it won’t lend itself to dig in and get hung up, which the egg shape did tend to do. I told him that made sense but wouldn’t a egg or more pointed weight cut through submerged grass better? He told he wouldn’t be throwing a Carolina rig in any type of grass. Which kinda surprised me. Given the shape of the weight in your video, even with the bead, do you use the same setup in submerged grassy areas, which looks like it would work just fine, or just not use it through grass at all. Just wondering Thanks Mike

Flipping with Abrazx
I use 20# shooter for the conditions you describe on a similar rod. I tried 25# once of a different premium brand, but really didn’t see a discernible difference. Mike
