  1. Ha! You’re not as simple as you think you are! It took me 3 times as long to say almost the same thing. ?? Mike
  2. I have no doubt! I just can’t stand the stuff? Mike
  3. For frogging? No You'll be best served using braid from 30# to 50# depending on where you’re throwing. But for jigs you’ll lose all sensitively if you have any slack in your line. Mono is good for hanging pictures on a wall. Mike
  4. For me it’s all about the hunt. Once she is hooked, playing with it until I can touch it is secondary. Finding, enticing and overcoming a prey in its environment where I don’t belong is the juice for me. Being good enough to Improvise when needed.... Wise enough to Overcome the temptation to Improvise when tempted.... Using experience and knowledge to Adapt to every changing condition is key.... Mike
  5. 5 lb something on a Houdini RI Skinny Dipper. 6/0 keel weighted hook on 20 lb Shooter. Mike
  6. John There are boat ramps at Rolands place but if all you have is an 8 ft boat I would not venture too far from the lock! Watch the weather and water conditions VERY closely. Be Safe Mike
  7. That time of the year is one of best on the lake, you can expect to find fish in all 3 phases. That lake is huge and can be very intimidating if you don’t know where you’re at and where you’re going. Since you’ll be on the south end, once you leave the basin and through the lock, I would head for the South Bay Area. Go past the rim canal into Coots Bay, turn right and start right there. @crypt gave good advise. If you decide to take the rim canal East, keep going until you reach Pelican Bay. There should be cleaner water with beds all through there around the edges of the shell beds along the many reed lines and isolated clumps. Pay special attention to blown over reeds. You may have to punch through them but on that end of the lake until early summer, the big girls will be waiting there buried up. Males will be very aggressive and will hit most anything. Have a great time but be smart! Big O is no place to go joy riding and then lose your way. If you have tracking on your electronics use it. Mike
  8. A man of vision and commitment May he Rest In Peace Mike
  9. Great! Mike
  10. Down here they’ll hit both either as a trailer or stand alone. But junebug gets the most play. Why not just keep a b&b handy? There may come a time you may wish you had. Mike
  11. 90% of my combos are flouro. As long as you use a quality product as @Team9nine said, and use some spray (KVD Line and Lure) if you need it, you won’t need to change it out because of down time. Mike
  12. Ahhhh I am so sorry to hear that Tom. Condolences to You and your family. May God Bless Him and give him peace. Mike
  13. That’s GREAT!!! Very happy for you Mike
  14. I pray that you have a complete and total recovery!! Put your hat on, it’ll make you feel better! ??? Mike
  15. Hmmm I do think it will be a fairly close game but not that many points scored. KC defense can be scored on, but SF offense isn’t on thier level. KC will force SF to be more balanced which I don’t think they have the horses to do. If they even try being close to one dimensional as they were last week, it’ll be over at half time. Mike
  16. They’re done Mike KC and SF should really be something!! Mike
  17. I don’t own that rod so I can’t say. If they were EXACTLY the same probably. But remember for the 6’6” to reach the same distance the action would have to be farther down the length to load the same. I know what you’re asking Steve, but again, just because the rod is longer doesn’t necessarily mean it will cast farther. Can it? Sure Will it? Probably I don’t mean to seem like I’m avoiding the question, I’m not. it’s just my opinion from my experience. Maybe Someone else will chime in. Mike
  18. Congratulations to KC!! They earned it Mike
  19. Yes and No... Conventional thinking says yes, the longer the rod the longer the distance. However, There isn’t a definitive answer to your question. Rods across different product lines can be all different with the same spec. A M/H from one can be compared to a M/M from another. I have a 7’4 H/F rod that, all things being equal, with launch anything I tie on farther than a few MH’s. The length paired with the actual power and action for what you need or what you want out of it is really the only way. Mike
  20. Never heard of them. Look good tho Mike
  21. I don’t own or intend to buy a Lews but I hear they make a good product and very popular on here. I just wanted to comment on your bearing content concern. In my opinion, The total number count does not make one reel better than another. It’s where they’re at and what they’re made of, is what should be considered. The SLX gets a lot of play here so I would think those 4 are enough. I just don’t read them. Those guys should be around shortly. Mike
  22. The KVD is a proven product that is consistent and works better than all the other off shoots. You know what you’re getting. If you need to save a buck or so give it a try. I tend to stick with what I know. Mike
