  1. If I’m fishing the same spots it’s because they’re producing and no reason to leave. Which is the point. On a lake like Okeechobee I’ll get bummed because it changes so much and then I have to start over finding a new pattern. Mike
  2. Not counting a few older spin casters and 2 spinning reels that I weened the kids off, I pretty much have one for one now. Mike
  3. This is not a right vs left debate. There are enough of those on here already. My point is if you keep in mind that a pitch is just a pendulum swing using your arm to start the motion and your wrist for distance and accuracy it won’t matter what you use. The biggest mistake doing it right or left is starting the arm motion too high. The lower you can keep your arm to start the pendulum moving the easier it is to get the distance you want while making the most silent and accurate entry you can with your wrist. The end result should be the same regardless, it’s just what’s more comfortable to you. Mike
  4. Ditto I do the same with 6 but always leave the sleeves on until I need one. If put on tight enough they don’t move or separate. Mike
  5. @woolleyfooley Ya know, I may have a few left. They’re either older Plano’s or BPS labeled ones. I’m currently out of town for the birth of my newest Great-Granddaughter. 😃😃 I’ll check when I get back and you can have whatever I have left. I’ve never had a problem with rust in any box I’ve had and that’s living and fishing down here for awhile so I really can’t comment Mike
  6. Good job keep at it. With more practice you should be able to hit a dinner plate. If you feel squirrelly try that when flipping! 😃 On all my initial pitches I do it the old fashioned way, hold bait in left and pitch. All subsequent ones are left also unless I need an inordinate amount of distance and don’t want to take the chance of a noisy entrance. Left handed reels are not for me, just feels backwards and awkward. Plus it’s just not worth keeping a left handed pitch only setup. I’d much rather just switch hands as most times it’s just more accurate Mike
  7. I use Rapala’s, it’s cheap and it works Any type of a stone one will do. The way you do it is more important than what you use Mike
  8. I try to check all hooks on everything I plan on throwing before every outing. I’ll touch up all trebles if needed (usually the front only most often) Since I only throw Trokar’s now for all single hooks presentations, if the point goes bad I just replace it. Mike
  9. Be sure to enter this! I got all 3 different sizes and I tossed most of the others I have. See my quick review on the “New Plano Stowaway Stow” thread. Mike

  11. They’ll be there whenever you’re ready!! Just do what they tell you to do and listen to your body. It’ll tell you when and what you can do. Stay strong Pal Mike
  12. I have the 7’ Med Cerros that is labeled as their “Jerkbait, Top water, Underspin and Light Texas-rig” rod also with Okuma’s Hakai reel. It’s darn near perfect for those as long as you stay within or close to its max lure rating of 5/8. The 1/8 oz rating on the low end shouldn’t be a problem with any of those you would throw. Sunday I threw a Pop R, a standard sized Speed Worm on top and a 4” Shadow Rap and it handled all very well. (I was kind of surprised that it threw the Speed Worm as well as it did because those things don’t weigh anything) As I’ve posted before about using this mag only brake reel, the Hakai continues to surprise me. (It’s the only one I own) I don’t normally use braid for jerk baits as it’s spooled with 30# Smackdown, but I didn’t want to change it out. And again even in the lower end of what I like to use, it casts as smooth as anything else I own regardless of what I threw. Mike
  13. I love these things! I’ve accumulated so many boxes over the years from different brands that I just gave them away or used for nails, screws, washers etc. These new Plano’s are just better constructed throughout. The walled sections are sturdier with thicker dividers that stay in place and don’t bow out like others tend to do. I especially like the one latch and the full length label section on the latch itself. The 3 different sizes are a nice touch that work great for a co angler’s bag and even better yet as a Go Box. Depending on your intended length of stay or for when you only want to bring certain things, the 3 sizes just make it easier to carry and transport without having to bring a full bag. Mike
  14. So glad to see her get out and feeling better!! Great video by the way! Mike

  16. My Dad was a combat engineer I remember he would never talk about anything that he’s done or seen. After a while we just stopped asking. My Ma said all she knew was that he built or repaired runways and bridges while the fighting was still going on. I think she knew more but would never say. Mike
  17. Uncle Jim Staff Sargent 101st Airborne Div Normandy France June 6, 1944 My Ma was told the glider he was in crashed on landing more than 2 miles from thier landing zone. All aboard were lost. May they Rest in Peace Mike

  19. That’s one way I guess, never heard that before. Another is to just hold the rod straight up and bend the end down with the guides facing out. Another is to place the tip on the floor and push the handle down. Anyway you do it, it won’t take much to tell you what you want to know. Mike
  20. Keep moving and throw at different angles while rotating through your arsenal. If you find them they’ll tell you what they want. After a while with no hits, leave. Mike
  21. A couple things I’ve done over the years… One of the reasons I tie direct instead of tying to the split ring is that at rest the split ring will always fold straight down which then has a greater risk of fouling the line. Another tip I got from a pro when I was a Marshall is if fouling becomes a real problem replace the front hook with a shorter shank. Another which I admit is a little tougher to do is never throw into the wind if possible, and as soon as the lure hits the water, pick up the slack until the lure is pointed directly at you then begin. Mike
  22. Yes Sir I throw all top waters except frogs with the same 30#. I don’t use a leader of anything for anything. Mike
  23. 30# Smackdown braid No leader Palomar knot Tied direct Mike
  24. It’s system where it holds all the rods together, bound at both ends with a built in strap that you can sling over your shoulder to transport. OP I never heard of a rod sock that will hold 2 rods together. 2 pieces yes, but not 2 rods. Seems like a gimmick to me Mike
