How often do you spin vs baitcast?
100% casting. If I lived somewhere else it may be different, but down here I don't even think about using a spinning setup. Even in areas where the conventional thinking would be to use one...skipping docks, and so called " finesse" fishing etc. I still prefer casting. Mike

Deep Cranking Setup
I agree with John Check out the composite X Series of rods from Phenix. I have thier "deep diver" X11 (which I bought by mistake) It's rated to 3oz and I swear you wouldn't know it if you didn't look. The X 11 is 7' while the X 13 is 7' 6" with the same spec. These rods are made for what you want to do. Mike

Flippin' & Pitchin' Reel ?
They're all quality reels and each can be used for any presentation you want to use them for. The first deciding factor for me when mating a reel to my flippin stick is comfort in my hand and balance on the rod. My advise is to mate them up and go from there. Mike

Fishing pole help
Don't over think it. Use what you have until you can or want to upgrade, but for what you use it for you're good. Just go fishing as often as you can, pay attention to what you're doing and when, how and where you're successful. Relax and have fun. Mike

Do You Clean Your Rod Guides Regularly?
I do every time using a q tip, when I spray Line and Lure on the line and reel before every outing. Mike

Cranking a jerkbait?
Not really, but it's kinda hard to tell because they always start to blow bubbles when I ask, and I never get a straight answer. Mike

Cranking a jerkbait?
The first rule is...there are no rules!! The fish will tell you what, how and when..to throw what, how and when Mike

New to bass fishing with young kids, tips, what rig etc?
I know you said you'd rather they use a bobber instead of retrieving a worm...I started my grandkids out doing the same thing but that lasted all of 10 min. You're lucky that your 3 yr old was happy doing it. Mine just lost interest sitting there watching the bobber bouncing around until I put a ribbon tail worm on and have them reel really s l o w. When they were about 4, I had them casting with an old Johnson 100 spincast reel I had and they were hooked. They are now 12' 8 and six and they still remember doing it. So if and when they start getting bored give it a shot. I know it can be a pain for you because you'll always be casting it out but if you make a game of it, it may keep thier interest longer..At least it did for mine. Have Fun and make some memories!! Mike
